Hotel's Favourite
We were welcomed by a lovely gentleman on reception who happily chatted away with our children while checking us in. We’ve stayed once before and were disappointed with the cramped family room we had however the one we had this time was huge! It was spotlessly clean, and the perfect temperature. We all slept well, we weren’t disturbed from inside the hotel or out despite having the window open beside what appeared to be a busy area especially for trucks. In the morning another very pleasant male member of staff showed us the inner door that leads to the Beefeater next door, last time we walked round as we didn’t know it was there! A huge thank you to the staff for being so welcoming and the cleaning team, keep up the hard work!

Hotel were accommodating and checked us in earlier than 3pm. We had the meal deal, please check prices as they do 2 for 1 on meals on certain days of the week. Some meals, foods they didn't have, some desserts they didn't have. Hot (warm / cool) breakfast didn’t come out until 9am. Felt as though we'd wasted our money on this and the food was bland and not the usual standard of a Beefeater. Bed was creaky and did not make for a restful night on the eve of a funeral. Room temperature could not be adjusted despite following the booklet given. Disappointed stay.

We booked a family room and it was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Bathroom was also immaculate. The staff are most helpful and cheery without being intrusive. Lovely breakfast choice available including fresh fruits. Our only grip is that the room was too hot though a fan was already in the room for our use.

The only problem we had was on check in as the internet had been playing up and they couldn’t check us in, we were advised to wait in the pub next door, which wasn’t a problem for us. The situation was quickly sorted and normal service was resumed.

Our room was a very decent size and had all the extras needed. The bathroom was clean and pressure was good. The bed was okay, not excellent but fine for a couple of nights. The downside was the cleanliness. The room was pretty bad. I didn't want to walk barefoot on the carpet and the amount of dust was unacceptable whatever the price. There were marks on the wall, old socks and lots of bugs. We had to switch out our fan as it was caked in dust. The receptionist couldn't believe it when she saw it. I personally would not stay here again, and I'd search for an independant or other low cost brand if you just need a bed for a couple of nights.

Stayed here for one night as I was attending a military event in nearby Catterick and the Premier Inn I normally stay at there wanted over £100 a night! A quick look on nearby Premier Inns threw up this one at Darlington East Morton Park for around £48. It’s nice and easy to find as it’s situated on a large business park approximately 10 minutes drive away from the A1 (M) I arrived at around 3:15pm and easily found a parking space on the large (and free) carpark at the hotel. I went into reception to check in and saw there were two self check in machines either side of a desk where a woman was sitting looking at the computer screen. I’ve stayed in many premier inns in the past where this has been a very typical layout and situation and I’ve always been checked in by the person at the desk. The woman behind the desk didn’t even acknowledge I was there even though the desk was right next to the double opening electric doors. I stood there for about 30 seconds or so but she didn’t say a word or even look up from her screen which I thought was a bit rude to be honest. As I stood there a man came out of the office to the left of the desk and asked if he could help. I told him I was checking in and he said we’d do it on the machine… a straightforward process. He asked if I wanted to book any meals and I replied I’d like to book breakfast for the next morning. I said I’d pay for it there and then and he said to the woman who was still sitting at the computer ( and STILL hadn’t acknowledged me!) that he’d need to jump on the computer. She gave him one of the blackest looks I’ve ever seen and got up with a face like thunder and wandered off! What a little charmer! I was assigned a room on the first floor overlooking the roundabout at the rear of the hotel. The windows were open on my arrival but the room itself seemed fairly quiet despite there being quite a lot of traffic entering the business park. There is no aircon at this premier inn (which I knew before I booked) but they’d provided a small desktop fan instead. Thankfully it wasn’t a hugely hot sunny day or the room would have been sweltering. The room itself was your typical Premier Inn affair with all the usual things all Premier Inns have. Interestingly there were two armchairs in my room as opposed to the usual settee I’ve always seen in other places. The room was pretty clean as you’d expect it to be. I went for a shower after my long drive up to Darlington and although the pressure was ok the water itself really wasn’t as hot as it could have been… especially from the tap on the sink. The bathroom was fairly clean but they had missed a few bits here and there especially around the edges of the toilet. There is a Beefeater restaurant attached to this Premier Inn and I went and had dinner there that evening. The food was great as was the girl who served me but the two girl bar staff were easily the most miserable people I’ve ever seen in any pub I’ve ever been to. If serving customers is that much of a hassle ladies you probably need to find another job! I had a pretty good nights sleep (despite the lack of aircon) and my breakfast the next morning was excellent. Checkout was easy… drop your card in the box as you leave and away you go. Overall it was a fairly good stay for the money but I don’t think I’d rush back to stay here next time…. The Premier Inn at Catterick Garrison is far better. 5/10 from me for this one.

In theory the invitation not to put recyclable items into the waste bin is commendable HOWEVER inviting bottles, paper etc to be simply put alongside the waste bin in the room is untidy to say the least particularly if staying more than a couple of nights. I wonder too what happens to the different classes of items when the room is cleaned.
