We booked a four people private room and the two out of four beds didn't have bed sheets or towels. We went and ask for them and they just gave it to us and it was really difficult to make the bed because the sheets were small. We were very kind with everyone who worked there and whenever we asked for help they acted like they were tired of us. Otherwise, everything else was perfect.

I've stayed in backpacker accommodation before and this was above average for that category. Unfortunately they were renovating the hallways outside our room during the time of our stay and so we put up with power tools for the 3 nights we were there. Having said that, the room that we had was good for a 4 person family. A double bed and bunk bed was well positioned and the seperate toilet and bathroom helped with logistics in the morning. Within a 10 minute walk from the train station, this position worked for us and we enjoyed the renovated surrounds once they were done.

The location, price and cleanliness was very nice. However the kitchen was terrible, not a single mug, glas or bowl. One morning the pots and pans were gone, I tried asking at the reception but no one there at the time spoke English. But worst of all was that our room was overbooked, one night when me and our friend got back we found someone sleeping in one of our beds and all other beds full. Will not return.

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Salzburg.
It was definitely the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in.
You have to make your own beds and I asked for a towel but they said ‘they’re not included and you have to pay per day to use them’ however they were provided for every other person in our room? The staff were overworked and understaffed which made the environment very uncomfortable. The whole hostel was a weird atmosphere. There was someone in my bed when I arrived and when asking the staff they were unhelpful. The whole hostel is a shambles, there was at one point a person off the street lying drunk (and on other substances probably) on the pool table so we couldn’t use it, staff made no attempts to resolve this. He then moved into the sofa area which made me uncomfortable.

I have stayed here at the a&o Hostel Salzburg several times, and each time I was pleased with the cleanliness of the room as well as the general accomodations.

I came for the night and arrived at a quarter to midnight. The Hostel was quite busy, even at this time, and after a short wait, I checked in. My room, #140, had one bed remaining, a top bunk. I actually prefer this, as it gives some measure of privacy. The only difficulty I had was placing the bedsheet on the mattress in the dark!

The bed was comfortable as was the pillow. I slept well, and though a window was open, I didn't get bombarded by mosquitoes. The common areas were very clean and this added to the level of quality I perceived. There were so many choices for breakfast near the station, so I didn't choose the breakfast which was on offer.

All in all, this is a very good choice for someone who wants to be near the train station and not spend huge amounts of money. I did use the electronic lockers and it cost €3 for 3 hours.

a&o provides a great resting point for travellers. However I found the shared dorms to be lacking a few necessities such as individual privacy and a work plug socket for my bed. Lockers in the room are not existent and private security storage has to be rented / paid for in the downstairs lobby.
Overall, a great breakfast and cleanliness of rooms and bathrooms was kept.

We were able to get into our room before the check in time which was nice. Nice clean rooms. There were bunk beds and we booked out a 4-bed room. The steps to the bunk beds were a little painful on our bare feet, but nothing unmanageable. Each bed had 2 usb charging slots for easy phone charging, though both of mine were broken. The staff were considerate, clear and also spoke English; which was good as my German is not passable. This hostel is located 2 min walk from central station and we were given clear directions via email before our travel.

This is a really nice hostel with lots of morden facilities. The rooms are nice and have lots of space, the bath rooms and showers are new and clean- nice bar too

And it’s a good place to meet other travelers

The location is really good too - less then 5min from the central station close to a McDonalds and a SPAR (a grocery store) and it’s a short distance from a lot of bars and attractions in Salzburg.

Highly recommend

I've stayed at other a&o hostels and had good experiences, but the hostel in Salzburg was really bad. We killed 4 large spiders in our room in 2 days. We found them crawling over our toothbrushes and shoes. The room smelled like sewage, and the stench was only made worse by the extreme heat. There was no AC and the window only opened a crack. The room barely had enough space for the two sets of bunk beds and double bed. It felt like a prison sell. The communal kitchen area was very small and always had a pile of dirty dishes. I had to wash other people's dirty cups and spoons in order to eat my own food. We tried to buy breakfast at 8am on the last day of our stay and were informed it was already sold out and we couldn't eat there.

The place is near to hauptbanhof hence very easily accessible from anywhere from the city and rooms were very clean with supportive staff at reception. Always recommended to stay in any of A&O hostels. Value for money.

Answer from Sven D
When you book a Hotelrom are they the Bedshhets and towels inclusive. When you book a Dorm-bed, you had the opportunity to save money and bring it by your own bedsheets or sleepingbed, or pay for bedsheets 3,50€ and towels 1,50 once for the full stay.
