We stayed for 10 nights at the beginning of May. Lovely hotel – absolutely immaculate throughout, stunning rooms and views to die for. It really pains me to say anything negative because we did have a lovely holiday, but the only thing that let the hotel down was the catering for my husband who is a Coeliac (an auto immune disease which means he can’t eat anything that contains gluten). Don’t get me wrong – the hotel really try to be on the ball when it comes to catering for special dietary needs, but fell short on a couple of occasions. Despite filling in a form on arrival and meeting with the head chef and sous chef (who did create special meals for him on a couple of occasions, for which we were very grateful), there were a few issues. The first was when he ordered food from the poolside bar menu – chicken skewers, served with salad and fries which was the only gluten free option. All fine until they arrived and on the tray next to the skewers were two bread rolls (not GF rolls), so immediately presenting a risk of cross contamination. Again, in one of the restaurants, they presented my husband with normal bread, even though the waiter had just had a conversation with him about what he could and couldn’t eat and how they would adapt the menu for him. They subsequently removed the bread and swapped it out with gluten free bread, but presented it back to us on a plate next to my bread, again presenting a risk of cross contamination. They also served him cous cous, which is not gluten free. At another of the restaurants, they did cater for him very well, but one of the waiters kept referring to him as a celeriac (which we actually thought was really funny!) The buffet was amazing, but on a couple of nights there were very limited options – but when he spoke to the chefs they were able to prepare him something special, which was great. So, as I said at the start of this review, I don’t want to be negative, but really just want to highlight that the hotel is trying really, really hard to cater for special dietary needs, but as an individual, you need to be on the ball all the time and always have your wits about you, just in case a mistake is made. I think a little bit of extra staff training is all that is needed to address these issues – being a Coeliac isn’t an allergy, it’s not about being a fussy eater – it’s an illness and must be taken seriously. Having said all of this, we still plan to return because the hotel is amazing and we had a lovely holiday.…
The Amavi definitely deserves its #1 TA rating. My husband and I agreed it’s actually our favourite hotel, and we’ve been to a lot all over the world… The hotel and pool area / grounds are modern / contemporary and beautiful. We loved the reserved sun beds, food and restaurants are fab. We opted for breakfast and dinner with drinks included and were really impressed with the quality. Staff are all really nice and spa area is lovely. Cocktails are some of the best I’ve had!! (I love a good cocktail). We honestly have nothing bad to say! (I can usually find something).
We have just returned from a weeks holiday from the Amavi. Without a doubt best Hotel in Paphos! The reasons for my five star reviews are as follows:- Customer Service exceptional! From every member of staff we met throughout our stay they all greeted us with a smile and could not do enough for us. Too many to name personally (tbh not good remembering names) as they were outstanding! We stayed in room 327 so if you were the ladies who cleaned our room (again hopefully management can identify you and thank you for all you contribute) it was immaculate at all times and even on one occasion we had an incident with a broken glass bottle and the member of housekeeping couldn’t do enough to help and ensure all glass particles were removed and floor polished once more despite only been done a short time before. The dining room greeting staff made you feel most welcome both and breakfast always ensuring you got a seat in your desired area. The head waiters who helped with your breakfast egg choice in the morning and also wine choice in the evening, all of them added to efficiently run dining experience. The chefs who turned out tasty dishes at all times with different themed choices each evening. We had a bottle of wine and free still or sparkling wine included in our package which came with a wine list allowing you to make your own choices and unlike other hotels where you are only offered house wines. You are also given a choice to dine in the three Speciality Restaurants which unfortunately we were only able to book one of them as they were fully booked so if you want to dine in any of these you will have to book on arrival! We booked the Nocturne before we arrived by email to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and the tasting menu offered was exceptional and well worth a visit. The pool staff were again very friendly and on arrival went out their way to make sure you were happy with your choice of your sun beds in your chosen area around the pool or on the grassy areas overlooking the sea. The allocated beds are yours to use throughout your stay which I must say wish all hotels would use this system to save the ungodly rise first thing every morning ‘fighting’ for prime slots. You are also given free bottles of cold water throughout the day. Thank you once again to one of the lifeguards who helped me retrieve my new hair band that I lost in the spa pool! All the reception staff went above and beyond to help sort out any queries we had. Paul (same name as my husband) was particularly kind in helping us sort out our late check out of which you do have to pay extra for but definitely worth paying if you have a late flight. Diyana Guest Relations was invaluable in sorting out any requests we had made before our visits which made our Special Occasions we were celebrating truly memorable. Thank you very much for the gifts we received during our stay adding the extra touch. The location of the hotel is perfect for taking an early swim in the gorgeous small beach directly opposite hotel. All the local regular swimmers greeted you and made you feel welcome every morning. You are also only a short distance from the harbour, bars and shops and an excellent small supermarket just across from the Amavi. To conclude my lengthy review I would not hesitate to recommend to anybody who likes a bit of luxury on holiday. This is our fourth visit to Cyprus and definitely our top choice of 5 star hotels to stay in! We will definitely return in the near future. Thank you again to all Staff at the Amavi! An amazing holiday!…
