We stayed here unexpectedly on the last night of our recent trip after an iffy weather forecast drove us back towards civilisation early. It was more expensive than other sites we'd stayed at but worth it. I assume this is just a winter thing due to banks of snow around the facilities but we were given access to the facilities in the hostel - great! We were able to have lovely hot showers, cook tea in the kitchen and borrow some ketchup for the hot dogs we'd been carrying round all week! The local pool is right next door too and it is close to the centre of Reykjavik.

When I started planning my trip to Iceland, I was unsure whether camping would be a viable option, as I wouldn't be renting a car and would be relying completely on public transport to get around. I was so delighted when I found out there was such a lovely looking campsite so close to the city and with access to busses. I couldn't be happier with my stay- the facilities were great, and it meant that myself and my friend were able to spend just €500 for a 4-night trip (flights, food ect included). I recommend this to anyone who enjoys camping, or to anyone who wants to do their trip on a budget- even if a bit unsure about camping.

During our trip this campsite had the most amenities which makes sense being in town. The is a flat section for camper vans and RVs and a separate section for camper vans and tents. We spend out first and last nights here and didn’t realize that first night that camper vans can park in the grassy area which is a little cheaper.

Use their website to book your spot when you arrive.

They have hot showers, lots of bathrooms, lots of cleaning sinks, cooking facilities, inside seating. They were lots of shared food products in the kitchen.

In the area there is an arboretum and a zoo. Also some restaurants in walking distance. If you drive to dinner or the sites just leave a chair or something to mark your spot.

They is the pool/hot tubs next door. It was out least favorite town pool just because of the crowds.

This is definitely a good spot to kick off your trip and get your food nearby at Bonus

We drove to the Reykjavik campsite for our last day in Iceland but we were caught out with timings. All the other sites we had visited we could turn up at any time, but this one doesn’t let you in before 13.00hrs and if leaving you need to go before 11.00hrs, unfortunately we arrived 2hrs before we could park up. This wasn’t a major problem as we drove to the Perlan to spend a few hours, but something to be aware of. Probably our least favourite campsite as if was kind of like camping in a car park, but the location makes up for it.

Whoever calls this the most well-equipped campsite in Iceland clearly doesn't cook or eat. For the outrageous price of 45 euros per night (just for a pitch without electricity, a tiny pitch less than half a meter from the next car), you get access to a maze of useless structures isolated by codes as if it were Alcatraz. The facilities are nothing short of useless: bathroom sinks without mixers, tiny and uncomfortable cardboard toilet cubicles, and showers that feel like tombs. The kitchen is completely useless, with sinks that have a pathetic water flow for Iceland, not even a drop of soap, a sponge, a pot, a ladle, a dishcloth, or a piece of paper towel. There are no toasters either. Obviously, having a box for sharing surplus food is too much to ask. In other less pretentious and Instagrammable campsites, we found a fridge; here, if you're lucky, you might manage to boil some water.

What are we paying for? Just the image, a place that makes you look cool on social media but where staying is practically torture. A DISGRACE.
Long live the humble but useful campsites scattered all over Iceland that cost less and offer more comfort. I absolutely do not recommend this one!!!

My 18 year old son and I had a great stay! I was able to do our laundry onsite and visit the community pool and hot pots (ahhhhh!) right next door. We felt safe and secure with the access codes and loved the overall vibe of the urban campsite.

We lived a few nights at the Dalur hostel and on the territory of Reykjavik Campsite. Very cozy environment and all necessary service. All changes of employees were extremely caring and attentive. Guys will definitely help and try to answer your questions. I can definitely recommend this location. Special thanks to Max.

Can book online or first come first serve via QR code at entrance. Beautiful property with well maintained amenities. A little more expensive than the more rural campgrounds we stayed at in our van, but last minute it was great! Quiet and had a good night of sleep. Will have to try the pool next time!

Five stars no doubt.
Service – Excellent, people are smiling.
Pricing – right and worthy – all facilities included: kitchen, cooking stuff and dishes, showers, restrooms, wifi–fi.

Lots of space to build your tent.
A big plus for recycling trash!

kisses, wishes from Lithuania dudes!

Friendly stuff and a massive camping area also the toilets and showers are great. Only problem is that too many people want to eat at the same time so the dinning area is really crowded in the mornings and evenings

You carry your tent from the parking lot to where the camping area is. Its not far at all and you can pick out any spot. Security you dont have to worry about I never had issues with anyone ever in Iceland. There are building for cooking and restrooms and everything is clean. I would stay here again.

I found this listed on the FAQs on their website, "We do not take reservations from individuals. The campsite has a capacity of around 900 people and is in the period of June– August usually a very busy place."
