The downside was that many of the guests are also with TUI and they offer trips for guests on certain days. This means that on the first morning of your stay, most people are up and needing breakfast all at the same time. The smallish dining room and staff serving in it were overwhelmed and it was chaos despite their best efforts.
Flight was good with cabin staff being really kind friendly and helpful.
Keflavik airport was also really good and although the baggage claim and passport control were quite a walk, our transition through was quick and efficient.
Met TUI staff and got on the transfer coach.
About an hrs journey to hotels and “Birmingham”Natalie filled us in on everything we needed to know as well as trips on offer.
You get dropped off at bus stop 9 which is perhaps quarter of a mile from hotel, but really easy to find your way to and from. And this is where all the TUI trips leave from.
Hotel was a little set back off the street so easy to miss, but once found was just what we’d hoped for.
You get a mobile phone when you arrive in place of a room phone, which is a great idea and meant booking things was really easy and you had a gps to help you find your way around.
The reception staff were great and soon had us in our rooms; rooms were clean spacious and tastefully decorated, with a smallish bathroom but excellent shower. The blackout curtains were also a really good feature.
It was very warm in our room but we were able to open the window, so it was easily sorted and the radiator was useful for drying things.
Breakfast was good varied and plentiful and the evening meal we had our last night very tasty. Fresh milk is available on request from reception so you can make your morning/ afternoon tea. And there are cups a kettle and tea/ coffee/ sugar in your room.
Our reps were excellent with “Lapland” Natalie keeping us entertained with the penguin dance whilst waiting in the snow for the blue lagoon transport at bus stop 9. All in the reps were great and text messaged when ever weather meant trips were changed.
Trip back to airport was good and transit back through Keflavik just as efficient as the inbound journey.
Flight back was not quite as good as on the way in, with a short delay to departure and on arrival in Manchester the incorrect position of the plane meaning disembarking was delayed and slow, which very quickly became claustrophobic.
So in a nutshell great hotel, wonderful country, excellent staff and reps!
