The hotel was part of a package booked through TUI. It is in a great location, right on the main street close to bars, shops, restaurants and pick-up points for trips. The room was a good size but rather dimly lit and lacking in somewhere to put things. The beds were really comfy and the bathroom well- appointed with a great shower and their own showergel, shampoo and conditioner. There was a place where you could fill you water bottle (their water is not only safe to drink but tastes great too). Breakfast was good, buffet style with something for everyone.
The downside was that many of the guests are also with TUI and they offer trips for guests on certain days. This means that on the first morning of your stay, most people are up and needing breakfast all at the same time. The smallish dining room and staff serving in it were overwhelmed and it was chaos despite their best efforts.

We only stayed one night, but were greeted by friendly staff, who stored our luggage and were able to provide a room in advance of the 'regular' check-in. Very convenient for walking in Reykjavik. Close to good restaurants and good brreakfast.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for 4 nights arriving on boxing day. The check in was easy, the reception staff friendly and informative. The hotel has a very welcoming feel about it and is decorated to a high standard with an industrial style that is authentic to Iceland. The rooms are warm, spacious and maintained to a high standard. Breakfast is plentiful and sufficient variety for all tastes. Brass restaurant will provide a good quality lunch or dinner in comfortable surroundings - try the fish and chips. Location is excellent and all sights are in walking distance. The Golden circle and blue lagoon trips well worth the money and we were so lucky to get some fabulous photographs of the northern lights on our very last night. Stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Just got back from 3 night stay here for NYE booked via TUI. Hotel perfectly located on Main Street with shops and restaurants. We had room 310 which was just next to lift but you couldn’t hear it at all. Lovely rainfall shower very powerful. Nice large towels that easily wrapped round you. Good English tv channel selection for any time you do spend in room. There is a water machine on reception floor so able to get cold water still or sparkling at any time. Breakfast was ok, enough choice you can even make your own waffles if that way inclined.

This hotel is very well located on the Main Street heading into Reykjavik centre. Rooms were well laid out and really warm and cosy. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom smart and classy with a lovely power shower. Breakfast was lovely. Fruit, yogurts, toast, pancakes, hams, cheese, breads and a hot section also. My favourite was the potatoes and bacon, it was lovely. Outdoor hot tub was extremely hot but when it’s minus 10 outside, a pleasant way to warm up! It was centrally located and had nice eateries and pubs very close. Reykjavik is small enough to explore on foot and very safe all around. Tap water is amongst the cleanest in the world so can save money as it’s an expensive city. If you want alcohol, make sure you use the happy hour in all pubs and bars. They run at different times so some planning needed. Rough prices are £10 a pint but this reduces to around £5.50 in happy hour. Hotel staff were very informative and helpful. One of the best holidays We’ve ever had in an incredible country.

Some friends in the UK had recommended the Alda Hotel to us for our 4 night stay and so we booked the Alda through TUI. The hotel is on a main shopping street in Reykjavik and is in the perfect central location to access all of the bars, pubs and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and were kept spotlessly clean by daily cleaning. The public areas were also spotless and we spent some time enjoying drinks in the hotel lounge. Breakfast was included in our package and this was a mixture of hot and cold, but all very good and fresh. All of the hotel staff were also super friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Alda Hotel.

Spent 4 nights here travelling with TUI from Manchester.
Flight was good with cabin staff being really kind friendly and helpful.
Keflavik airport was also really good and although the baggage claim and passport control were quite a walk, our transition through was quick and efficient.

Met TUI staff and got on the transfer coach.
About an hrs journey to hotels and “Birmingham”Natalie filled us in on everything we needed to know as well as trips on offer.

You get dropped off at bus stop 9 which is perhaps quarter of a mile from hotel, but really easy to find your way to and from. And this is where all the TUI trips leave from.

Hotel was a little set back off the street so easy to miss, but once found was just what we’d hoped for.
You get a mobile phone when you arrive in place of a room phone, which is a great idea and meant booking things was really easy and you had a gps to help you find your way around.
The reception staff were great and soon had us in our rooms; rooms were clean spacious and tastefully decorated, with a smallish bathroom but excellent shower. The blackout curtains were also a really good feature.
It was very warm in our room but we were able to open the window, so it was easily sorted and the radiator was useful for drying things.
Breakfast was good varied and plentiful and the evening meal we had our last night very tasty. Fresh milk is available on request from reception so you can make your morning/ afternoon tea. And there are cups a kettle and tea/ coffee/ sugar in your room.
Our reps were excellent with “Lapland” Natalie keeping us entertained with the penguin dance whilst waiting in the snow for the blue lagoon transport at bus stop 9. All in the reps were great and text messaged when ever weather meant trips were changed.

Trip back to airport was good and transit back through Keflavik just as efficient as the inbound journey.
Flight back was not quite as good as on the way in, with a short delay to departure and on arrival in Manchester the incorrect position of the plane meaning disembarking was delayed and slow, which very quickly became claustrophobic.
So in a nutshell great hotel, wonderful country, excellent staff and reps!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and we had a wonderful experience. The staff were so helpful from the moment we checked in until we left. Reception staff took a lot of time when we first checked in to go through the map of the local area with us, marking places to visit and eat after enquiring about the type of food we like. They offered to make phone calls for us in relation to tours we had booked and researched information for us regarding the Northern Lights tour if it would ahead etc. We got a smart phone when checking in which I thought was a brilliant idea, local calls can be made, a shortcut icon to call reception even from outside the hotel. Google maps was particularly handy. When they discovered we were there for our "minimoon", they had complimentary chocolate sent to the room. The bar in the hotel served lovely food, we particularly enjoyed the cheeseboard! When we go away, we generally like to visit many different places to eat but we couldn't resist having a snack here most days! The breakfast buffet was one of the best breakfasts I've had. When checking out, we had to leave at approx 3am and staff had yoghurts, juice/water and sandwiches for us as we were too early for a breakfast! Hotel was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see in Reykjavik. Highly recommend staying in Alda Hotel when visiting Reykjavik!

We stayed at Alda during our last night in Reyjakvik. If you’re looking for a hotel with a great location, you would be hard-pressed to find a better place to stay. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, which makes it so easy to explore. The rooms are clean and, like the other hotels we stayed in, beautifully designed. The service at the front desk was really helpful in checking us in, providing us recommendations and booking us a taxi to the airport. While this hotel excelled in many ways, there are some improvements that could be made. First, the walls seem to be a bit thing, so it was easy to hear people walking around and talking in other rooms. Second, because our room faced an interior courtyard, there were no windows that we could open and the room because a bit stuffy at night. Overall, if you’re looking for a clean, charming and centrally-located hotel in Reyjkavik, Alda is a great choice.

We stayed at the Alda for 3 nights and found it to be a very pleasant hotel. The hotel amenities include a sauna and jacuzzi for guest use and the rooms are functional, clean and have everything you need for a stay in this wonderful city. The hotel is situated on one of the main streets and is very close to all districts of the city so you can easily walk wherever you wish to go. The only down side was the breakfast, it was on occasion awful. On our first morning the hot buffet was stone cold, and again on the 3rd day too. It is because the way the food is heated if you have an early breakfast it hasn’t had time to heat the food sufficiently, not pleasant. What food there was on the hot buffet would have been lovely if hot. The 2nd day was a disaster, it was very busy the weather was bad so no trips out and everyone descended on them at once, this is a fact. But they still took paying customers for breakfast from outside the hotel, when there wasn’t enough food for us to eat. No bread at the toaster for at least 20 minutes. No hot buffet not even cold hot buffet. No pastries, no fruit, no hot water for tea. No teapots, no cups etc etc not much of anything actually a complete disaster, no where near enough staff to cope with that amount of custom, when I eventually got a Teapot it was filthy, so disappointed because all other aspects of this hotel where wonderful. It could have been a 5 star review, gave it a 4 because breakfast so awful on that middle day, but on reflection could have been a 3 as Iceland is so expensive for food, you do actually and should expect a decent breakfast. Would I return, probably yes as I personally am not a huge breakfast eater, my husband may say different, and I am sure others would have been very miffed about it.
