Hotel “Lotus” is a wonderful small (as of now, they are building a third floor) hotel located in the nice area, about 30-35-minute walk from the Center. My sister and me are over 70, and enjoyed slow walk through the city, seeing with our own eyes how the locals live. The area where hotel is located is safe and full of places to eat or buy food. The hotel is run by Maria, extremely friendly and knowledgeable about any questions that you might have. The check-in time in hotel was 2 pm, but we arrived early in the morning. Maria greeted us with such warmness, found a room for us to relax, suggested to eat breakfast and even go to sleep for a couple hours before exploring Reykjavik. Hotel is clean, breakfast is wonderful, plenty of choices. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
We stayed for 2 nights, at the beginning and at the end of our tour. We would strongly recommend this cozy, homey hotel, and, hopefully will book with them again 😊

This is a very intimate 22-room small business owned hotel. The owner is absolutely delightful who will go out of her way to make sure our needs were attended to. She provided plenty of information for us to enjoy our stay in Iceland and provided travel advice since we were stuck in turbulent stormy weather.

The room was quite small and kept clean. Good water pressure in the bathrooms and quick to hot water. The floors in the bathroom were heated which was nice but my complaint would be a lack of a shower door. The shower curtain did not do anything and our floor was soaked. Due to the small turnout of guest, it seemed like the breakfast was not as fresh (fruit seemed old). There were deli meats, cheese, variety of breads, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, and fruit.

If you are staying for room comfort, I’d stay at a bigger hotel for better amenities. If you want a personal intimate experience, then this is a great spot for a cozy feel.

A beautifully clean and friendly hotel. We were in a smaller room but was perfectly adequate with extremely comfortable beds and hot powerful shower. The owner was always on hand to give brilliant local advice, booked taxis and liaised with tour companies for us and made the stay really pleasant and homely. Free coffee and cake on hand at all times and a seating area to relax.

We had a big room which was clean, modern and quiet. Air conditioning didn’t work very well, the room had a stuffy smell and the noisy from the shower lingered in the room afterwards unless we kept the balcony door open every now and then. The breakfast was ok, nothing special but we got our stomachs full. We stayed only couple of we did day trips all over the region - for this purpose it’s good choice and has free parking. The price is still a bit high compared to the level of the hotel, but I guess it’s quite difficult to find a super good hotel with low price in Reykjavik.

It was an absolute pleasure to stay at this family run hotel. The booking process was easy and the price was very reasonable. The property boasts free parking and a keyless/contactless check in. They have a keypad system throughout the hotel and email the code at booking. All parts of the hotel were immaculately clean. The communal and room pictures posted online were accurate. The restaurant area downstairs was large and nicely decorated and laid out. Breakfast included a variety of meats, cheeses, breads, yogurts, cakes, cereals and milks. It also had a fancy "Jura" coffee machine, that was an absolute win for us. The owner/manager was very kind and nice to talk to. She baked a fresh cake for a guests birthday, while we were there. She also searched in the kitchen for gluten free options for my wife and advised us that if we had of let her know beforehand, she would have gone out to get gluten free bread just for us! The room was just as advertised and was very clean and finished to a high standard. It had a king bed, heated floor, multi-brightness light system, comfortable sitting area and large bathroom with wet-room style shower. The room also included a fridge and "Nespresso" machine. If we were to visit Reykjavik again, this would 100% be where we stay. Couldn't recommend this hotel enough.

The perfect base for exploring Reykjavik! I stayed at Hotel Lotus for two nights - my first and last in Iceland. Everything is recently renovated, Maria (and everyone I interacted with) was incredibly kind, and the breakfast options were great. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the main tourist attractions, but I appreciated this as it meant I didn’t have to navigate my car through the city center. I stayed in one of the single rooms, which was small but no different than shown in their photos. (I’m always happy to find single rooms as it makes traveling solo much more affordable.) Would highly recommend staying at Hotel Lotus!

I will never stay anywhere else in Reykjavik! We arrived so early from our red eye flight and planned to park there and ask where we could eat breakfast to kill time until our room was ready. They insisted we sit down to their breakfast instead even though we hadn’t even stayed the night yet, and expedited our room cleaning so we could grab a quick nap and take advantage of the great weather to explore in the afternoon.

The breakfast is amazing, with homemade coffee cake, smoked salmon, bread, croissants, yogurt, fruit, and various other dishes, and is included with the stay. We were well fueled for our long days of hiking and exploring! Definitely much better than the typical continental breakfast.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, very modern design. They vary in size and amenities so maybe check with them if you need a specific type of room. Parking is ample and free.

The hotel is not located close to downtown Reykjavik - we walked but it did take a good 30 minutes. That doesn’t bother me as I like to spend time walking through new cities and exploring.

The people who run this hotel are so gracious and caring. I would recommend it to anyone.

We enjoyed out time at the hotel Lotus.

The room was large with plenty of storage. We were on the top floor and the room was quite hot which surprised us. We opened the window but it was difficult to cool the room even when it was 40F outside.

Plenty of hot and cold water and the water tastes great all over Iceland.
Good quality towels.

The bathroom was nice, I would bring my own shampoo and conditioner, most hotels provided body wash but not shampoo or conditioner. The mirror in the bath was really high. I’m 5’5” and the shelf came to the middle of my nose. They provided a hair dryer and a mini fridge.

Plenty of parking.

Breakfast was very nice. It had multiple types of breads/sweets, spreads, salmon, ham, different cheeses (I loved the paprika cheese), boiled eggs, fruit, etc. We stayed for two days and the breakfast room wasn’t very busy.

We were very pleasantly surprised at how lovely and comfortable this hotel was. This is a small limited service hotel, I believe only 17 rooms. Everything has been recently renovated. Our double room was extremely spacious with a comfortable mattress, plenty of storage space, and a really nice bathroom with lots of counter space and heated tile floors. There is not a restaurant on site, but the host serves a delicious breakfast with great coffee and a wide selection of breads, pastries, yogurt, cereal, fruit, meat and cheese. It’s a bit of a walk to downtown Reykjavik (20-25 mins) but a short drive. There are restaurants within walking distance for dinner. The hotel’s host is very warm, friendly and helpful.

It was a true pleasure to stay at Hotel Lotus during our visit to Reykjavik. This hotel can offer modern and newly redecorated rooms with very comfortable beds. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. And last, but not least - this hotel is run by the most welcomming, nice and helpful hotel owner that I have ever met! I would love to stay here again

It’s 45-50 min walk to the center. This hotel is wonderful though. Just rent a car so you can go anywhere you like. It’s easy to drive here I had no issues

Hi Robert, we had the same situation (early check in for drop luggage) and they were very kind. We left luggages and returned in the evening for complete check in.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, but for anyone else going to Iceland to get from the International airport at Keflavik to Reykjavik just get the Greyhound bus they'll even drop you to your hotel and also do the return for the airport.
