Hotel Fron earns praise for its inviting atmosphere and helpful staff, with guests frequently complimenting the hotel's service and complimentary breakfast. Despite some inconsistencies in room cleanliness and staff engagement, most travelers find the rooms clean and well-maintained. The central location is a highlight, providing easy access to local attractions.
While room sizes and noise levels vary, the inclusion of kitchenettes is a popular feature. The hotel is generally seen as offering good value, though some guests mention additional costs and high food prices as drawbacks.

Detailed Reviews
I enjoyed staying here and would highly recommend it, it was a perfect location for trips, shopping and restaurant's, there is a restaurant attached to the hotel and you can have a 10% discount in there which is helpful considering the cost of living in Iceland, portion size was good too. This hotel is ideally located for organising trips etc. A friendly and warm welcome. Breakfast gets busy at some times but we did manage to get a table every day. There was a constant top up of food at breakfast and lots of choice of cereal, meat, cheese, bread and the croissant's are fantastic. We had 2 rooms, one was just a room and one was a studio with some cooking facilities, both were clean and although we didn't cook if you find you need to reel in your budget then a studio would be ideal for a quick pasta dish or some soup.
If I was returning to Iceland I would not hesitate to re-book this hotel, ticked all the boxes for me.
Quick tip - print off some maps from google as when you get off the bus from the airport you do wonder where you are. Also DO book a transfer from the airport to the hotel (you get dropped off in town and need to walk) a 10 minute taxi ride was £25 locally and it's an hour from the airport.
You can see the northern lights from the sea front as easy as an organised trip so save some money there. Also do some reading up on how to photograph the Northern lights (very difficult to actually see with your naked eye
but they do come up on the camera (check your camera settings for night shots)
All in all an ideal hotel in a good location.

The hotel is in a good location, in a pedestrianised section of the road, so you can’t actually stop in a car outside the hotel to drop off your luggage. Requesting on-site parking is hit and miss, mostly miss.
We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of our holiday on a Monday night and it was very peaceful. The last two nights of our holiday were a Friday and Saturday night which were quite noisy. The thumping music from the bar/club next door went on until about 4:30am, then the revellers spill into the street, very loudly, with car horns tooting. This goes on until about 5am. Around 6:30am the pavement/road cleaner arrives!
The two rooms we had overlooked the front of the hotel and had a balcony which was nice. The rooms are clean and tidy however very dated and in need of some TLC. Both rooms had a kitchenette which would be handy if you wanted to self-cater. The venetian blinds during our second stay needed some attention and one didn’t tilt at all.
The breakfast was plentiful but very basic compared to the other hotels we stayed in during our holiday. Nothing hot except for toast.
Now on to the staff. The younger dark haired lady receptionist was very unhelpful and quite grumpy. I don’t think I ever saw her smile! She needs to brush up on her interpersonal skills as she will put guests off ever returning. On the other hand, the slightly older lady receptionist (and a gentleman who we believe may have been the manager/owner) were both much more helpful and cheerful. Such a contrast.
Overall an OK stay. Would we stay there again, probably not. I am sure there are better hotels in Reykjavik, with a welcoming receptionist and a quieter nights sleep!

This hotel is right in the centre of Reykjavik in the pedestrian area, so a great location and easy access from the official pick up/drop off bus stops around the city. Front desk staff were somewhat abrupt, even refusing to help me book an airport transfer late one night when we were having problems with the website.
Our room was in a separate building out the back, in itself not an issue, but had a patio door which opened at street level so could not be left open for ventilation, and left us concerned about security. Room was clean enough, not spotless, and generally needed a bit of TLC for the price they charge.
Plenty of hot water (yes, smelt of sulphur but that is how the locals get their hot water, and I'd rather they aren't charging me extra to clean it up), good quality linens and towels. Kitchen facilities seriously lacking, the room slept 4, and we were a family of 4, but there were not 4 cups/glasses.
Generous breakfast but would not be to everyone's tastes (my kids not impressed that's for sure) with rye bread, meats, cheeses and some pastries. Many people were packing lunches/filling thermoses and with the cost of food out and about that's a great thing to consider. They did offer safe gluten free bread for the 2 celiacs in our family.

We booked this as a package holiday and i wasn't expecting the best hotel as it was the cheapest available. There were pros and cons. The pros - very central and easy to get to all the different bus stops available for excursions. The room was spacious and they offer breakfast which isn't an option at most hotels in the city. The breakfast was simple but enough. Cereals, yogurts, cheeses, meats, fruit and pastries along with a range of hot and cold drink options.
The cons - on arrival the bathroom had used towels still on the floor from the previous guests. They seemed to make the bed each day but did not wipe down surfaces or replenish the tea/coffee all week, we had to ask for more at reception. We were in a room at the front of the hotel and it can get very loud at night with people from the bars on the street and pedestrians walking up and down the street through the night. One of the ladies on reception didn't seem very approachable.
All in all, you get what you pay for. I would stay here again because it is in a great location and is one of the cheapest so i am happy to overlook the housekeeping issues and would hope i can request a room at the back.

Great location on the pedestrian area full of bars and shops.
We slept in a room on the fourth floor of the building, quiet, large enough complete with all the basics for a hotel of this category (hair dryer, kettle, TV, etc.).
Friendly staff. Buffet breakfast both savory and sweet.
It does not have its own parking but you can park for a fee in the streets around or in the nearby Traðarkot garage.

I'm currently here now and this is the worst hotel I've stayed in. I am well travelled but if you want to actually sleep DO NOT stay in this hotel. Despite the greedy hotel having many bookings and making lots of money it's scandalous that the manager hasn't sorted out sound proofed windows or even do away with the 2nd floor rooms facing the main street. My room is 2nd floor (room 219) facing the main street.
Thumping music continues until 4am in the morning, then a street cleaning machine starts at 6am and housekeeping starts at 8am. I do not come away to get no sleep and this has ruined my trip to Iceland as I'm too tired to do anything. I had 2 hours sleep on Saturday and 4 hours on Friday.
Do not stay here unless Ibiza is your thing.

We are an adult family and we stayed in an apartment. The apartment was a very good size and had the following facilities:
Living space
Hob
Dishwasher
Capsule coffee machine
Coffee machine
Cooking equipment
cutlery and crockery
The apartment was clean, had plenty of towels, only one room had a TV however the was a TV in the living space, there was no extra bedding, the wi-fi worked very well and had hand soap and body and hair soap.
It would have been nice if the cleaning team had refilled the body and hair soap dispenser once it ran out. The breakfast I would say was basic european style and had the following:
selection of meats, cheeses, yoghurts, fruits, cereals and pastries. They also provided insta coffee, water and orange juice.
The breakfast is held in the on-site restaurant which also allows external visitors to attend. It has has approx 15 tables that seat 4 people
so during peak times (7am to 8am) it got very busy very quickly. In addition there is no hotel bar so if you want a drink you can purchase from the restaurant but there isn’t a bar area to drink instead you can sit in the outside area or in the restaurant or take to your room.
Overall we enjoyed our stay as all the staff where friendly and helpful, the location is good and a 5 min walk to bus stop 6 for tours but other bus stops such as number 12 are only a 15 min walk away.
However overall

Comfortable room, friendly staff ( especially Ilsa, on the night shift ). This hotel is located in the heart of the vibrant city center amidst lots of shops and restaurants. It is in walking distance to so many sights in the city. The rooms are small but equipped with everything you might need. I requested a quiet room and they accommodated with a room at the back where we did not hear the street noise. Bed was comfy, shower was good, adjustable and hot. Housekeeping was minimal, no replacements of hand soap or Kleenex which were empty. Towel rack was heated, which was nice.

No parking near the hotel. Difficult to find. The shower water has a strong sulfur smell. Bring your own water to drink, the water in the hotel is all sulfuric. The pillows are pretty worthless. Staff isn't the friendliest either. The rooms are we too warm. Don't recommend this place at all.

We stayed in a suite which had some really good amenities including fridge, microwave, small hob plus crockery and utensils. The was bed but the sofa bed wasn't so I ended up sleeping just on the sofa and it was ok for a couple of nights but wouldn't have been for any longer. The bathroom was a decent size but the smell of the water was awful. Balcony with a view of the street. Location wasn't too bad although depending on the transfer type be prepared for the 10 minute walk from the drop off point. Breakfast was served in the adjacent restaurant (which served really excellent food as we found one night). There was no hot food served at breakfast but there was plenty of choice.
