I had a stopover in Iceland and decided to extend it to a few days. My friend found this and we decided to stay there, and we certainly did not regret it. First of all, the staff was really welcoming, I couldn't have asked more. I was 18 years at that time, and I felt as if I had a mom watching over me: calling the bus for us, because it was certainly more simple to book it in Icelandic rather than in English, telling us about the good restaurants and the good place to go out at night, always making sure that we were enjoying ourselves, etc.
Also, the location is pretty good, about 15 minutes walk from the town. You can also rent a bike there, and it must be about 5 minutes from the town in bike. We went out one night, came back in taxi at 6 in morning, and it was about 15 Canadian dollars.
Finally, the beds were very comfortable, I haven't sleep that good in a long time, I guess the jet lag did help, but still, the beds were amazing.
I would definitely recommend it, and if I ever go back to Iceland, which I hope I will, I will stay there again, without a second thought.

Just back from a stay of 3 nights. Booked a family room and was given a "dorm" room that would sleep 8 (4 bunks), with a large central table. It was great to be able to spread out a bit. The beds were comfortable and we had no problems w/ noise from the hallway or other rooms. Bathrooms are shared but we never had a problem with a morning rush or having to wait for one to be available. Breakfast is 7 Euro and kids eat for free - tasty bread/toast, cheese, ham, coffee, juice, cereal, and soft boiled eggs. The owner - or lady who primarily runs the hotel - Vala, is very friendly and knowledgeable. We arrived at 6am after an overnight flight and our room was ready by 8am or so. The pool across the street is *wonderful* and not to be missed (and great for kids) and cheap. There is a 7-11 type 24-hour store about a block away. There is plenty of free parking and it is a short drive into the central part of town. I believe the buses also run frequently from the street at the back of the hotel. Kitchen is available and has assorted pots and stuff for quick meals (e.g. making some pasta - nothing complicated).

The room was comfortable and clean. Two bathrooms were shared by a few occupants, which is inconvenient but pretty common in Iceland. Breakfast was included and reasonable. There is ample parking space. There are two fully equipped kitchens and its easy to prepare meals with a supermarket located close to the guesthouse and open 24 hours. There is also a nice restaurant not far from the guesthouse. The owner was very cooperative and helpful and allowed us to stay in the room until 9 pm on the day of our departure.

I stayed in Laugabjarg Guesthouse for 7 day and cannot think of one bad thing to say about it. Easyjet lost my luggage and the first they I was offered when I got to the guest house was spare cloths.
The staff were so accommodating and even came down at night to give me my suit case which had arrive while I was out.
The guesthouse is very nice with 3 bathrooms. 2 on the ground floor and 1 on the second floor. There is one bath/shower and while it is a big guest house we had no issues having showers when needed. The bathrooms were cleaned everyday as noticed by the new bath towels present in the morning.
Breakfast was meats/bread/fruit/cereal and juices or Tea/coffee. I don't think you could need much more starting your day.
We were on the second floor in a double room. We had no issue with noise and having 2 windows allowed us to control how hot/cold it got. The guesthouse is located about 25 minutes walk from downtown and there are buses that stop outside but we never felt the need to get one.
There is also an amazing swimming center across the road which had a 50 Meter lane pool while also have a huge relaxation pool with basketball nets and water slides. There is also an indoor pool but as all the pool were heated we stayed outside. The cost was €3 per person for an entire day. Lockers were free of charge so no added extras. Having this literally across the road was amazing to relax after horse riding.
On arrival we were given a map of the area and she also wrote down places that were not highlighted, like a little seafood bistro which we visited and was amazing. If you are ever unsure of anything just ask the staff they are so willing to help. They also have a washing machine and dryer which you can use which helped us a lot until my luggage finally arrived 4 days into our trip.
I cannot fault this guesthouse and If I ever get the chance to go to Iceland again I will be staying here again.

Stayed here with two of my friends for four nights and the guesthouse is one of the nicest places I've stayed while travelling. First of all, it's located in a lovely area outside of the main city (you can walk into downtown Reyk within 20 mins along the harbour which is a VERY nice, picturesque walk). It was nice to experience a quieter part of the city, away from the hustle & bustle. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful, even booking our Flybus for us and giving us a lift when the bus people forgot to pick us up!
Our room was huge, airy and clean. There are blinds which shut out most of the light which was pretty useful, although we did also use eye masks (which I would recommend if you are going to Iceland in the summer). Bathrooms are on the ground floor and were also very clean when I used them. The kitchens on the ground floor were also very tidy and clean, lots of cutlery/plates and tea/coffee.
Breakfast was a highlight, lots of food and drink available and plenty of space for people to sit down, as well as lcelandic newspapers which was fun to look through despite not understanding a word of it.

The Laugabjarg Guesthouse was a perfect place for our family of three to stay during our visit to Iceland. The host (and owner) of the guesthouse is a wonderful, thoughtful man. We only had a very short time to visit Iceland and he really helped us make the best of it. When we arrived at 11:00 AM and told him we needed to leave by 5:00 PM the next day, he thought deeply about the best plan for us, and then quickly made calls to check schedules and availability, and arranged for us to take an incredible afternoon sightseeing tour of the Golden Circle. He carefully showed us on a map, as he marked it up for us, places nearby where we could walk, get food, and even use the public hot springs. He then made phone calls and arranged the logistics to get my wife out for a horse ride the next morning and back in time time to catch the 5:00PM flight. We had a great relaxing soak in the outdoor hot springs (3 minute walk) with lots of temperatures to choose from, and very clean. You can also easily walk along the scenic waterfront to town for dining.
The shared kitchens and bath are beautifully finished in tile and varnished wood, with radiant heated floors. The bedrooms are freshly painted white with a nice big window. The rooms and common areas are immaculately clean, with coffee available, and a nice big refrigerator.
The Flybus or Grayline bus will take you right from the airport door to door to Laugabjarg guest house and back again.
We definitely recommend staying here.

We booked this spot because it was listed in TripAdvisor as a B&B and we discovered that it wasn't what we expect in a B&B. We learned after arriving that there was no breakfast provided -- however, there is an adequately supplied kitchen and the grocery store (Kronen) is about a mile away so we hiked up there and got supplies and did just fine. The shared bath is also not what we expected -- but worked out. The hot water is very hot since it comes out of their geothermal hot water supplies but it also has a faintly sulphur smell to it. The cold water supply is very cold and does not have the sulphury smell or taste to it. The room was clean and utilitarian. The folks that we met who were also staying there were fascinating. The owners were helpful. Baldur and his wife (who is from Colombia, South America, and speaks Spanish in addition to Icelandic and English) were more than happy to help us make reservations for buses, had recommendations for dining out nearby, etc. Although it was not at all what we were expecting it worked out and was very convenient for excursion pick ups. It is walking distance to grocery store, restaurants, bakery and public swimming pool/hot pots if that is your 'thing'. We did not do the public swimming so have no opinion on that. It was good to be able to use the kitchen to make our lunches before our excursions as eating out in Iceland is very costly. My husband and I spent about $36 at the grocery store and got eight meals for both of us out of that. In contrast we bought ONE bowl of vegetable soup with a few pieces of lamb in it one day and it cost us about $18.50!!! Go to the grocery store!

We had a lovely room for our family of four that included a dining table for our belongings and very, very comfortable beds. We arrived at 7am and the room was ready for us to take a short nap after our long flight. Peltur (not sure of the spelling), the owner, was gracious and chatted with us later in the day to give advice and tourist information. We had use of the kitchen which really cut down on food costs, and the wi-fi was great along with the free parking.

Stayed here from the 31st of August 2015-6th September and what a joy it was. It has that "homey" feel to it and by the end of the trip I didn't want to leave. Vala the Guesthouse owner is incredible. She is very friendly and oh so helpful. We missed one of our tours and she immediately got on the phone to the company and switched round our tours so we didn't miss out on anything.
Whilst the location is a little out of town I enjoyed the long but pleasurable walk into the town near the seaside when I did end up going into Reykjavik. But for the most part this didn't matter as I was on tours pretty much every day anyway. There is an ATM close by (You don't need cash in Iceland to be honest. Cheaper to just use your card) as well as a bakery, hot dog, and 24 hour store within 5 minutes walk of the guesthouse.
Room was great and comfortable beds. Kitchen was great and we used it everyday to save us some money rather than eating out everyday as Iceland is super expensive!
I have no bad things to say about this place - I will be coming back here again when I'm next able, that's for sure.

The guesthouse was quaint and Vala was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were small but worked well for us as did the shared bathroom. Breakfast was good. We enjoyed this stay and would stay here again if in Reykjavik.
