At the center of Reykjavik’s booming creative quarter, you’ll find the new, stylish and industrial Grandi hotel. More than just a great place to stay, the hotel is a quite lively gathering place for those in the know. Offering spacious and well appointed rooms that include all the classic comforts such as free WiFi, flat screen TV, telephone, mini bar and a safe. Some of the rooms on the upper levels offer views over to the city center. The hotel lobby and lounge offers good atmosphere and additionally to the lobby and rooms the hotel has a restaurant and bakery on site. The restaurant; Mýrin Brasserie offers good selection of tasty dishes. All guests and Grandi get 10% discount of the á la carte menu at Mýrin Brasserie and other restaurants located at Center Hotels. The bakery Hygge is open daily and offers selection of pastries and coffee. Grandi is in close vicinity to all the main attraction in the city center, making the hotel an ideal place to enjoy Reykjavik at it's best.

Grandi by Center Hotels is often celebrated for its modern vibe and pristine cleanliness, with guests frequently lauding the spotless rooms and overall maintenance. The friendly and professional staff also garners consistent praise, enhancing the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. While the hotel's amenities, including a varied breakfast and prime location close to the harbor, are appreciated, some guests feel the room size and spa services are just average.
Although the location is generally well-regarded, the walk to the town center and occasional noise from construction are drawbacks. Moreover, the value proposition is sometimes questioned due to the high pricing.

Detailed Reviews
We were booked at the Grandi by Center Hotels by our tour company, even though our tour documentation said we were staying at the Midgardur by Center Hotels. We took a taxi from the airport to the Midgardur, where we found out about the hotel switch when the Midgardur could not find our reservation. The Center Hotels employees at both hotels were very apologetic and could not have been nicer. They offered us free coffee, arranged for a free taxi ride from the Midgardur to Grandi, and Grandi staff reassigned rooms so that we could check in to a room upon arrival at 9:30am. The hotel room we stayed in was a standard room with plenty of space for two people. Mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. The sink was outside of the toilet/shower area, which is convenient when two people are getting ready. The shower had a rain shower head (so nice!) and handheld shower head. Our minibar was empty (not a problem for us) and locked. No hotel safe, so I kept our passports with me. Blackout curtains worked well. I never wore the eye mask I brought with me. The room was warm (there is no air conditioning) so we asked for a fan. We were given a nice floor fan with three speeds and it helped keep us cool at night. Our room was on the street side, so it was a bit noisy with the windows open, but this is what happens when you stay in the city - you hear traffic noise. The fan helped drown out the noise. The breakfast buffet was amazing! Food plentiful and delicious. Hotel was fully booked so breakfast times were busy, but everyone was courteous and servers were quick to keep the buffet stocked and tables cleared. Homemade breads, croissants and pastries, fresh fruit preserves, eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit and more. I definitely would stay at the Grandi if visiting Reykjavik again. The Old Harbour area is beautiful and offers many amenities and restaurants. It is a good starting point for walking to sites all over the city including the famous church and Harpa concert hall.

The Grandi is a new, comfortable and well-designed hotel with a deeply helpful staff. We stayed with them for 3 nights and had a breakfast-included (good one, too) package. The rooms are small but beautifully designed with a small fridge and hair dryer. The beds are crazy comfortable. The hotel’s location is about a 15 minute walk from the edge of downtown and right at the beginning of a newly developing foodie area. We had gorgeous meals (Sea Baron! Foretta!) within a 5-10 min walk. We found out later that you can see the northern lights from hall windows (or room windows) on the 5th floor when conditions are right!

I came to Iceland for my partners 30th Birthday with 4 of our friends. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and the hotel is very clean. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed, the only downside was that our room view was of a construction site and every morning at 8am the drilling would start and wake us up! Which was frustrating after a late night from hunting the northern lights. The breakfast was good and was included in the price, we never waited for seats and there was a selection of cereal, pastries, hot food and cold food. The hotel was in a great location, it is a 5 minute walk to the centre and a 7 minute drive from the main bus station which costed around £11 in a taxi.

Dear Megan, Thank you for the feedback. I am very sorry to hear that you had a frustrating experience with the construction site outside. Unfortunately, we have no control over the start/finish time as it is not the park of our hotel, but I completely understand your dissatisfaction. I sincerely hope you will visit us again in the future so that we can provide you with a better experience. Best Regards, Mikaela – Front Desk Manager.

We have just returned from 5 nights at Grandi Hotel. The style of the hotel is industrial, small and perfectly formed. We loved the location at the harbour, as there are supermarkets beside it, reasonable but beautiful restaurants and only 15 minute walk into the centre (it’s quicker to go right outside the hotel and then immediate left to go into town, the reception staff sent us left but it’s 10mins longer)
The rooms are very small but we felt sufficient for our family needs, we booked 2 rooms for ourselves and 2 teenagers who where in the room next door. The bed is comfortable and has 2 duvets on it, so one each with two lovely pillows each.
The rooms are incredibly warm, we tended to open the window, one thing we would note is that there are black out curtains across the window but no option to have the curtains open and privacy from the homes opposite. This may not be a big deal for most be we like light and the rooms are dark with inadequate lighting for dressing or makeup application.
Please note the bathroom is a shower and a toilet, the door is a frosted glass door which doesn’t come fully up or down so if your not very friendly with your room partner be aware that they hear everything from the toilet - loudly! The sink and mirror is in the room and is perfectly arranged.
There is a small fridge and it allowed us to purchase snacks and drinks in the supermarket across the road because you will find out Iceland is expensive.
The breakfast is ok, very repetitive, the usual melon, orange, ham, cheese, croissants. Then there is bread for toast, cornflakes, cheerio’s, porridge, and into the hot stuff, bacon scrambled eggs and beans. There is coffee and tea with juices also available.
We used the restaurant on one night and it was very nice but if travelling with a family who like different things we would recommend the food hall down the harbour, it’s literally 6-7 minute walk, Grand Matholl I think it’s called, it’s open until 9pm each night and is a lot cheaper, one steak without sides in the hotel restaurant was £65 so imagine us as a family of 4!
On 2 mornings the fire alarms went off around 8.30am, we still don’t know why. We found the staff not very helpful and the reception staff not as dreamy as everyone else seems to report on. We asked one receptionist to book us a taxi to the bus station the next morning for a day trip and she didn’t and didn’t tell us, on the morning of the trip the taxi wait was 45mins! We nearly missed our trip only for an Icelandic man Magnus saw us outside waiting and offered a lift.
All in all if the price was reasonable I would return but only for the location. The Icelandic people are fantastic and it’s genuinely been our best family trip

I had a great stay at the Grandi by Center Hotels in Reykjavik for 9 nights in October. Julio was the staff member at the front desk when my travel companion and I arrived early - very tired from three days of travel from our remote Canadian town. Julio was FANTASTIC - he found a way for us to check into one of our two rooms early for a low cost, then we were able to enjoy the delicious breakfast buffet at the hotel and start to recover from our travels in order to enjoy all Iceland has to offer. Julio continued to be remarkable throughout our stay - with a master degree in business, fluent in multiple languages, and the most charming personality possible, he was brilliant, efficient, and thoughtful and made our whole stay the best it could be. He often worked with Khaled, who was also helpful and kind with a positive approach. Truly, all of the staff were very excellent and dedicated. Even when incredibly busy they were each calm and smiling – answering all questions, going the extra distance, and solving everything. The cleaning staff were really nice and did a great job too. Your hotel rooms and facilities are clean and elegant and the location is perfect for walking around Reykjavik with easy access to all the fun shops and sights. I would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone going to Reykjavik, and I would stay there again as my number one choice!

4 nights spent at the hotel and it was everything we needed.
Breakfast was great, selections of cereals, fruits, yogurts, hot items (bacon, egg, beans), cold meats, fresh bread and pastry’s. Always stocked, organised and clean throughout the restaurant.
Rooms were very small, there wasn’t much room, so we did live out our suitcases! But there was everything you need including an iron, ironing board, safe and mini fridge. The bed, pillows and quilts were very comfortable and the room was cleaned to a high standard daily. We did have a disappointing view of the building site, but we knew there would be a risk of this. Despite the ongoing work we were never disturbed by the site and we had our window open whenever we was in the room.
Parking was never an issue. There was only a few spaces outside of the hotel, sometimes we got lucky, other times we parked in a nearby free car park called rastargarta, only a few minutes walk away.
All reception staff are all great, very friendly and helpful. The best we’ve experienced during a city break.
The hotel is very clean throughout. There is a lovely bar at the hotel and seating areas to suit if you wanted to dress up or chill in your casuals and is fairly priced.
Location is great, out of the way of busy streets. Only a few minutes walk to the harbour and around 10 minutes walk to the city centre.
If you are wanting to see the Northern Lights head down to grotta lighthouse, which is around a 7 minute drive away. We were lucky to see them there! However, it’s also lovely to just watch the sunset down there.
Highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed here for 4 nights following a longer stay at a different Center hotel in Reykjavik because I knew that this hotel had been built since my previous stay in the city and was curious what it was like.
Personally I like the location of the hotel, there are places to eat close by in either the old harbour or along Grandagardur and several supermarkets just off the roundabout on Fiskislod. The old harbour is only a short walk away and the main shopping street isn't much farther. I also like the fact that from the roundabout nearby you can walk along the water all the way to Seltjarnes, which is just a different option for an evening stroll.
I stayed in a fifth floor room with a balcony and the room was a good size with the usual kettle, fridge and safe. I do find it a little odd that in a new hotel showers have been installed over baths, rather than just installing a shower unit. No matter what I did with the shower head and the screen I found it difficult not to flood the bathroom floor while showering. What I found really strange was that the sink is outside the bathroom in the bedroom and it's fitted into a unit which isn't ideal. The tap is under a shelf which isn't a big issue but it's just inconvenient and annoying.
Breakfast is a buffet in the restaurant area and it got extremely busy. The staff that they had were working very hard but they just couldn't keep on top of the tables that needed clearing and items that needed replenishing on the buffet.
As mentioned in other reviews there is construction work going on at the back of the hotel and noise started before 8am. Personally it wasn't an issue for me as I was always up by this time but if you are likely to want to still be asleep at this time I'd recommend asking for a room at the front of the hotel.
All things considered I would consider staying here again mainly due to the location, but I prefer the atmosphere at the smaller Center Hotel Arnarhvoll and that would probably be my first choice in Reykjavik.

Grandi by Center Hotels:
The hotel is lovely and comfortable, with new and stylish decor throughout. The hotel were kind enough to upgrade our room for our honeymoon and we had a beautiful view of the harbour.
Breakfast is a great variety and even for early tour pick ups, we were able to quickly get some toast or pastries and take them in napkins.
The location is great with all but one tour being able to collect us from the hotel which is much easier than having to find a bus stop to meet at like a lot of other hotels. For the blue lagoon, we went with the reykjavik excursions transfer as it was cheaper and that meant we had to meet at BSI, on a day where we were that side of the city anyway. On the way home, though, they dropped us back to the hotel no problem. So if you want a hotel with a view and close proximity to food and bars, I'd definitely recommend this hotel.
Finally but by no means least, the staff here are beyond friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for them and with someone at reception 24/7, we felt very safe knowing we could go to them with anything at any time!
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We had a lovely stay here. Reception were friendly and helpful and we liked the way we could lock our luggage away in lockers when we arrived early. The lounge area was very relaxing and had a homely feel. The breakfast was fantastic. It had a huge selection which suited everyone and was always being replenished.
We found there was very little storage space in our rooms. For 2 people in a room, there was only enough for one person and the other person had to keep their things in a suitcase. For the room with 3 people, there was only enough storage space for one person.
Our room was very comfortable but the ceiling was unfinished. It was an expanse of concrete that looked like a multi-story car park as you lay in bed! Lighting was very limited in our room and we were unable to read due to this.
It would be good to warn people before they booked about the building site encompassing the hotel. We kind of expected it as we'd read reviews on trip advisor before visiting. It didn't bother us as it was only noisy in the day but a huge crane outside our window was a bit of a surprise!
The hotel is located in a great place and in a few years time, once all the building work is complete, will be a very desirable place to stay.

Hotel is in a great location & bus stop #15 is a few minutes walk away for all pick ups/drop offs from airport transfers to excursions. Situated close to the bay & old harbour. New buildings going up at the moment but not a problem as we were out exploring for most of the day. All staff, including reception, dining & cleaning were polite & helpful no matter what time of day/ night. We had breakfast which was a choice of hot items ( bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, hash browns, sausages, boiled eggs & porridge), & cold buffet items, cereals, breads, cheeses & meats, also fruit. Rooms were large & clean, only thing I could fault was they could do with more draws in bedroom for smaller items & bathroom needed more storage as Toiletries had to stay in bags as nowhere to put anything although the bathroom was huge. Window blind in bathroom needed addressing. Was a bit tatty & did not fit the window recess properly so there was a gap halfway down the large windows. Would have been nice to have somewhere to hang a hand towel near basin for drying hands on. Plenty of towels & free toiletries in bathroom. Nice to have a free safe in room too & plenty of tea/ coffee in room. More available from reception if needed. Also, some leaflets in room for excursions, places to eat, & hotel/ restaurant times would have been nice. Had a full week here & would definately stay again. Just needs a few things looking at. Would recommend to anyone visiting Reykjavik! Great base for your trip!

There are approximately 10 free-of-charge parking spaces directly in front of the hotel, though these fill up quite quickly. Alternatively, there is a free-of-charge car park approximately a 2-3 minute walk away, which is located just behind bus stop 15.
You can purchase the bus pass on arrival at the airport to take you to your hotel or take a cab.
Hi you can charge your phone via USB ports on the electrical sockets, or you can use a European converter
