Detailed Reviews
I spent 11 days in Reykjavik and booked a small room at Reykjavik Peace Center, since hotel prices were much higher in the downtown area. I planned activities for all days, so I did not spend much time there. The arrival and self-check-in was conveniently flexible, the room tiny but clean as well as the common areas. I did not see many other guests in the house and it was really quiet and peaceful. Since I used public transport most of the days it was very convenient that the house is located very near Mjódd station. Easy to get to downtown or on trips to other towns.
The kitchen was clean but very basic equipment, but anyway I did not have time to cook.
If you have time for reading, you can even find great books in the house.
The only thing I found lacking were proper blinds on the windows, there was always some light coming in and it woke me up every day very early. But overall great experience

I had low expectations going into this as it is a guesthouse in a city. Thankfully it’s a little removed from the city in a nice neighborhood. It feels like someone’s home. I had no problem accessing the bathrooms when needed. My room was a small box but I kept it open as it was near the dining area and made good conversation with guests. Despite it being a very small enclosed room, the place worked out very well as a solo traveler.

Siggi managed to meet us on the road while we were trying to figure out where to go. Not sure how he knew we were looking for the Peace House! Decent place to stay...a few things could improve. I didn't have a pillow in for my bed, but I also didn't end up asking for one, I just used the extra one without a cover from the closet and put towels over it. Kitchen was available, but we didn't use it. Couldn't figure out the coffee machine. We were welcome to food that was left behind from other guests, but we weren't too interested in the half eaten tubs of yogurt. The key was tricky to use at first, but we managed to learn the tricks. Internet was a bit spotty. Siggi was definitely a good host though, and that's a huge plus.

Key code did not arrive via email due to last minute check in. No one there to check you in. None of the 5 (!) phone numbers given to contact housekeeping/owner worked (even booking.com customer service tried to contact them for us and also wasn’t able to reach anyone). Email address bounces (“does not exist”).
We are trying to cancel now and look for something else. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

I read some mixed reviews about this place and was quite anxious before visiting but things that were mentioned as difficult before like check in were a breeze by now. I guess the fact that some of these visits happened a decade ago would explain why things have improved. Reaching the place from BSI bus terminal where you'll likely wind up after the airport is very easy with the number 3 bus that comes around quite frequently but if you have activities scheduled on the weekend be aware that those busses come a lot less often and a lot later then and cab fares in Reykjavik are high. You definitely should price in the out of the way location when choosing where to stay but the area was just another interesting sight to explore for a solo traveler who had the luxury of setting their own pace. The facilities themselves are good from what I saw. A nice shower, good beds and solid kitchen.

Loved my room with plenty of windows and view to lovely flowering tree (lilac I think). Choice of several places to eat or hang out, choice of two kitchens with everything needed and always kept clean and inviting no matter what time of day. Great meeting other travellers (or not if one doesn't want to), I enjoyed talking to people coming from Greenland, Sweden, U.K., Denmark and Italy. All friendly and peace loving people praising the place. Busses right into centre within 20 minutes, or out of town into the mountains for climbing. Plenty of room in the fridge and cooking facilities. Shops 10 minutes walk away open 24/7. Lovely staff, no pressure just good vibes.

Our room was pleasant and warm with comfortable beds. Everything was very clean. The shower was good and the kitchen well enough equipped. There were plenty of comfy seating areas so although it was quite busy it didn't feel overcrowded. The caretaker and his wife were very welcoming and were busy cleaning every day - they were also very prompt at answering any questions and helping with a few slight problems that arose. Communication before we arrived was good and access was easy with a keycode provided. Would definitely stay again.

Very peaceful place, lives up to its name! Despite having a lot of rooms and probably more people, we slept in and woke up to utter quietness, which we appreciated after the long day of walking and driving…
The room and bathroom were clean, common areas were still being set up it looked like, but looked comfy enough.
We were there just to crash and be on our way.
It’s out of the city, and parking was easy…
We got clean linens and towels, water has a sulphuric smell but not very bad.
Yusuf was incredibly kind to allow us to leave some bags while we did a short trip to Amsterdam, saving us considerable fees at a luggage locker. Very appreciative! And he moved our luggage to our room before our check in also. Definitely recommend this host and this house!

+1
Do not stay at this place, especially if you are woman travelling alone. Nobody works here, and the back door that leads to the alley is unlocked, You just walk in. The stairs have no railings, The bedroom door was broken and does not lock properly. There are piles and piles ( like 5 ft high) of garbage around the place. The shared toilet was broken, and ran all night so very loud. Buckets on the floor to collect leaking roof water. Not okay.

Beautiful place, we stayed in a small room but comfy. In the guest room there are some Chernobyl posters that are a bit disturbing at first. But still the kitchen has all the facilities we needed and the coffee maker is WOW!!! Reccomended. Only downside until midnight we could hear someone scrolling on TikTok and it was a bit annoying.

If you book the superior room you have a bathroom next to it on a separate floor that normally nobody else uses.
