We were a group of 5 and very comfortably stayed in a double room and the family studio suite for a night at the Freyja Guesthouse. It is in an unbeatable location, 3 minutes walking to the Hallgrimskirkja church and 8 minutes from the main street. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The family studio had a little kitchen a area to eat, similar to an airbnb. Additionally, the staff (for us, we spoke mainly with Ingo) is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Thank you for a great stay!

After our campervan tour of Iceland's Ring Road, we stayed for 3 relaxing nights at Freyja Guesthouse. It is in the city's central area, full of tourists, with a lot of restaurant and shopping choices. Freyja is a block away from the landmark Halgrimmskirkja where we heard their glorious organ being played on Sunday, a practice session not a concert, but open to the public. The church's bells rang every quarter hour, with a big peal of bells for Sunday services. Our room was just right, clean and modern, with a darkening shade for sleeping in the long-lasting daylight. A kitchen and sitting room had lots of amenities, including smoothies & milk, hot beverage machines, stove and utensils for cooking if you want, dishwasher run daily by the staff, and fresh fruit. The shared bathroom was not a problem, few conflicts, and it was easy to use the other bathroom upstairs. Free, angled parking was available on the street and there were always a few spaces.
An intriguing sculpture garden and art museum were at the other end of the block. We walked all over the central city and enjoyed the local food, public art, and harborfront.
When we arrived, we called the phone number to find out how to get in. The office isn't always open for all the specified hours, which seemed typical throughout the country. We met the friendly proprietors the next day.

Ingo greeted us and was very helpful on several counts during our 2 day stay. Clean, modern kitchen, tea and coffee available
Ingo makes guests a different kind of smoothie each day, and that was both tasty and appreciated. Excellent location--10 minutes to Museum of Iceland, 15 min. to center of city with lots to see and do along the way. Right scross from Reykjavík's modern cathedral, which is very cool.
Reykjavik is about 40 min from Keflavijk airport, and very easy drive. Also plenty of shuttle options. Great stay, great city. Check out John Lennon Peace Tower on Vithy Island.

I had the most wonderful stay here this February. This guesthouse is really well run and it's clear the owners put a lot of thought and care into their guesthouse. It's very clean, the bed is nice and comfortable, and the room was plenty warm. (and you can control the heat on the radiator on the side, so it's whatever setting you like best)
There is a kitchen which has everything you would need for making coffee or tea or even meals, and has plenty of dishware/cutlery. There's salt and pepper and coffee/tea provided. Each room has it's own shelf in the refrigerator and they really got the extra mile with the smoothies they have ready for you on your shelf each morning. There are extra towels in the bathroom if you need them, and l"Occitaine products are available in the shower and at the sink for everyone to use. If you are worried about the shared bathroom situation, it's not a problem at all. There are 3 floors and each has a bathroom; so if by chance it's occupied when you need it on your floor, there are 2 others to choose from. All are clean and well kept.
The location is also a wonderful feature here; it's just south of the cathedral at the top of the hill. And from the second floor kitchen, you look right out at it. Lastly, they have relationships with Braud and Co for a 20% discount on their amazing cinnamon buns, or at the art/cafe around the corner.
The owners know the area well and gave me great tips on where to visit, shop and where to get groceries. Really, this place is so centrally located, it's perfect for staying in Reykjavick or getting to BSI or other bus terminals to go out from the city if you want. I will stay here again when I come back to Reykjavick!

We stayed 6 nights at this guesthouse and it was wonderful. The guesthouse is within walking distance from the bus station (BSI) and next door to the famous Hallgrímskirkja church. There is a shared bathroom (with really nice soaps) and kitchen (with tea, coffee, ...). We went to the Laugavegur trail and left our luggage for 5 days and when we returned the owner was waiting for us and our bags were back in the same room.

The guesthouse is ran by mother, father and son. They are really helpful. We had some trouble with our second COVID-test and the mother called the Health Center for us and when that didn't work the father drove us to the Health Center to get everything sorted. The son is perfectly fluent in English and helped us with tours and car rental.

We had a great time here. It really felt like home!

You can feel the passion the owners bring into their guesthouse. Lovely rooms, the private bedroom as well as the shared bathroom, kitchen and sit area. Everything and more is provided. Clean, all details top notch, and right at the perfect location. You can even see the Hallgrímskirkja from your room or at least from the kitchen. The door system is very handy and you can always contact them by ringing the door bell. Well thought-out and costumer friendly.

They give you a wonderful breakfast option at the next doors Reykjavik Roasters, where both the food and the atmosphere are wonderful. They also have a healthy smoothie ready for you in the kitchen fridge and the possibility to make tea and coffee there.

With everything provided, and the welcoming feeling, this will be your perfect stay in Reykjavik.

A lovely guesthouse with fantastic accommodations, cozy rooms and environment, and the warmest staff who genuinely strive to make your stay great. This was the first time I had traveled abroad + solo, and they made me feel so welcomed and secured in a new country.

I had a room overlooking Hallgrimskirkja, which was phenomenal. Shared bathroom and kitchen areas are maintained very well, and staff are always within reach. They had helped me on numerous occasions from recommending things around the city, to accommodating unexpected laundry needs.

Their morning breakfast smoothies are fantastic, and they even have bike rental available if that is something you're interested in! I stayed here at the start and end of my time in Iceland, and I would stay here again if I were to come back to this beautiful country. Takk!

We stayed two nights at Freyja Guest House on the way to, and on the way from, Akurery. The rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable, yet on the way back the room was way too warm and we were told that this could not be changed. Breakfastwise we regretted that people with an early flight could not have a real breakfast even if it was included in our package.

This is the best guesthouse in Reykjavik. Of course the walls are thin and you hear everything that happens inside and outside, but you'll have this in every guesthouse in the city. What you won't have in every guesthouse is:
- Clean rooms and bathrooms
- Friendly owners willing to help and chat
- Better prices in local bars, restaurants and bakeries if you show your Freyja Guesthouse handbook

And the location is golden, just next to Hallgrimskirkja.

10/10

This is a very cozy little guesthouse. It's not a hotel - you will share a bathroom - but the rooms are large and elegant, the location is just outside the centre of the city, and the owners are super friendly (they'll make you a smoothie for breakfast every day). Iceland is expensive, and this is the friendliest, homliest place you'll find for a decent price. It's not luxurious, but it is very very nice. I'd gladly stay there again.

Hi Lorraine, Thank you for asking. If you requested a double room in your booking - we should arrange it as such. Normally we arrange all of our rooms as double - unless the guest requests two single beds. We look forward to hosting you, Freyja Guesthouse
