Hotel's Favourite
Excellent breakfast with plenty of everything, tasty and great service. You pay for it separately from the room charges but, I think, it is a fair price and the available options, sweet and savory, will cater for everyone.
The room was very clean, good space and great decoration. The shower/bathroom also very clean and modern.
The views were quite good for a city hotel, with Mt Esja visible in the background. Not bad! The double bed was comfortable and good size for 2 adults and a 2yr old. I will definitely recommend and come back if I’m in the city.

This was our first time going abroad in two years since covid and probably was one of our best holidays yet, the hotel is absaloutly lovely, very cosy boutique feel, as soon as you walk in everything looks really inviting there's a sofa area to the right of the reception that looks out on the pick up area for trips so you can sit in the warmth while waiting to go out, there is a little box of books/activities bits which I noticed mainly for children which is a nice idea, and the restaurant is on the other side of the reception where you can get complimentary teas coffees ect. We didn't actually end up trying the food but everyone else we heard talk about it said it was all lovely.
Reception team and all staff we encountered are very friendly and helpful, I think we were a little earlier than check in was but our room was ready and we were allowed to go straight up and settle in.
The rooms are lovely and cozy, always warm to come back to when it's so cold outside, the four poster beds are a really nice touch, the ensuites are spacious and spotlessly clean. The hotel is very conscious on eco products and provides there own bits and pieces in the bathroom including hand wash, hand cream, room spray, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There was also other bits like tooth cleaning tabs, cotton pads and ear buds, there may have been a few other things but long story short there all really great and probably didn't need to bring any of our own stuff, you can also purchase all the products in reception.
The free WiFi is good and normally had really good connection.
The hotel it's self is really close by to the main Street where all the restaurants and shops are you just have to walk out to the left and down the hill and then left again and you will literally see the main centre, If your out on late trips we really recommend devitos pizza it's open until late and is a few mins away from the hotel so somthing easy to grab and bring home. It's about a ten minute walk to the sea front and 15mins to the Viking ship art piece and again about 10mins walk up the hills to the church. So if you want to go and do a bit of exploring to get your bearings everything's really close by. If it's raining the hotel had umbrellas you can take out with you luckily we didn't need to use them.
I think lastly on the hotel's location you generally get picked up last when going out on trips and dropped back first which is a bonus so less time on the buses on day trips, and no need to walk anywhere in the morning to go to the bus stop meeting points that other hotels have to.
All in all we had an amazing stay and can't wait to one day return to Iceland and it's amazing beauty and will 100% hands down be staying again at eyja guldsmeden.
Thanks to all the team for a great stay 💞

Upon arrival after squeezing into really tight parking spaces (small car) where people had parked terribly, I was delighted to find 1 we could check in super early, 2 we had been upgraded in our room and 3 there was a bigger and better carpark at the rear of the hotel so tick tick tick!
We booked a double room and I think were upgraded to a corner room on the top floor (4 floors in total) which had a lovely view onto the sea above the buildings. The room was good size and the bed was big and comfy. I loved the bed linen! I’m not a fan of shabby chique and that was what all the furniture was but it was all perfectly functional.
The en-suite was nice but the toilet was leaking onto the floor. On the first afternoon staff just placed a bath mat directly below the toilet but was fixed by our second night. There were lovely smelling toiletries provided which you could buy in reception if you wanted. The soap and shampoo smelt the best. I wasn’t keen on the shower gel as this smelled of mint! There was also a cucumber freshener spray, hair cover, ear buds and facial wipes. However, after using the ear buds and facial wipes on the first day and discarding of them in the bin, they were not replenished and I think they should have been.
We did not eat breakfast in the hotel because we decided to go to a local bakery instead so cannot comment on breakfast, nor evening meal as we ate in a restaurant close to the hotel (Reykjavik Kitchen was amazing).
I was pleased with free parking at the rear of the hotel (don’t park at the front) as getting free parking in the city is pretty tough and one of the main reasons why I picked this hotel.
The hotel is a little way out from the main sights but its walkable within 10-15 minutes so not too bad.
Trying to leave the hotel at 4am for our flight was difficult as there were no staff to be seen and the doors were locked. We had to reach down into the reception area to call someone, who was clearly asleep.
Overall a good 4* hotel, which I think needs to improve slightly but is a good stay non-the less.

Disappointing stay room was tiny my husband and I were constantly tripping over each other. Bed sheets were scratchy and floor felt icky when walking bare foot. Good bathroom and shower. Breakfast so overpriced for what it actually is not much variety and same menu daily, plus cold scrambled eggs not good at all... no customer service skills from staff just seem to be going through the motions rather than trying to keep customers happy and provide exceptional service. No help with bags on arrival or departure and no room service. After long days touring we didn’t always want to go out to town for dinner but the dinner menu in the hotel was very limited. There were 3 main course options two of which were beef which we do not eat. We were shown to some wedges and onion rings as a dinner option. Location not great quite some distance from the main town in a run down area with constant noise from the road of trucks and Alarms going off. Only positive all the tours picked us up and dropped us off first. This place is a glorified hostel at best.

This hotel was very nicely situated off a main road so you didn't have any noise but still easily within walking distance. The room was adorable with the 4 poster bed! I would have preferred if breakfast was included in the price as all the other hotels we stayed in had this. Very clean and friendly staff, and parking right out front!

The hotel is in a great location with plenty of parking outside. Not far to the city centre. All of the extras in the room are eco friendly which was a nice touch (bamboo toothbrushes, recycled toilet paper etc). The room was beautifully decorated just like the pictures & very clean. Staff are very friendly. Definitely recommend.

We had an 11 days tour of Iceland starting and ending in Reykjavik. We researched hotels and the Guldsmeden was ideally located, had car parking and we incorporated it into two nights stay on arrival and one on departure. In reality, in addition to our hopes, it exceeded expectations! Helpful staff, clean rooms and the most comfortable bedding ever experienced on five continents - so good we contacted the hotel to try and purchase similar pillows in England. Our initial arrival was delayed by the late arrival of our flight. As we had an excursion booked and time was extremely tight - the gent on reception contacted the tour company and then the guide (they waited for us to join the food tour) excellent service. The hotel food at dinner and breakfast was good. Recommended 10/10!!

We are loyal to the Guldsmeden Brand, having stayed here twice and once at the Axel Guldsmeden in Copenhagen.
The brand is very comfortable and upscale without being pretentious. Comfortable seating, nice conversation areas, thoughtful products and excellent food and drinks as well.
The grounds are spotless, constantly refreshed with tea, coffee, etc. that are all complimentary and presented well. The lobby is extremely comfortable and really acts as a fun community spot to start, end, or just kill time during the day. If you have a later flight, it’s a great spot to lounge after check out.
The rooms here are very nice, top-quality products, good coffee and thoughtfully laid out spaces. It’s very spacious and easily fits two people with enough room to move around leave bags etc. without feeling cramped. We have stayed in a double and a superior double, both fairly similar though superior a bit more space and on the corner, which offers an extra window. Rooms with a view of the bay are probably best, the other side seems to view the Bonus shopping center loading area, so upgrading is well worth the price.
Location is 15m walk from the central area, all safe and easily navigable streets. We enjoy the walk and are active, so it makes for a great location for us. It’s like an oasis on the hill after a day of moving about the city.
Highly recommend this hotel and the brand in general.

We arrived quite early but the staff was able to get us in our room. They were pleasant and helpful
They were also able to help with directions to local sites
The room was small by US standards, but clean and nicely furnished. There wasn’t a lot of room for suitcases, but there was a wardrobe to hang stuff.
There was no AC, but the windows opened a little.
The bed was comfortable.
The TV was large enough, but only a few English channels
the WIFI worked well
The bath was medium size and clean. Lighting was OK
The room had a good number of outlets for charging stuff.
Meals were not included. Breakfast was very good with a good variety, but it was pricey at 26 euros.
We ate dinner there a couple times and it was good, but they have a somewhat limited menu
they have a pleasant dining/lobby/bar area in the hotel.
The hotel is an easy walk to the center of town
There is a grocery store next door
There was no ice machine, but the bar would give us ice for our drinks.
Parking at the hotel was available, but there weren't a lot of spaces. we usually got lucky, though.
The room was quiet at night, but there was lots of construction nearby- quite noisy during day
Overall the stay was a pleasant one.

Stayed here for a week for a work/pleasure trip. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the old town area and 4 minutes from stop 13 (closest stop for tour pickups). There are restaurants within 5 minutes. It was a good location for my business stuff, but a bit further out for touristy stuff. There is construction around it, but it never bothered me and I never heard noises during the evening/night/early morning.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
The room was a good size with a double (queen) bed. The bed and pillows were comfortable. As it was winter, heat was a concern and there is a radiator you can control yourself and also a window you can open if it gets too hot inside. There is a kettle with tea bags, but there is also always tea available downstairs.
The bathroom was a good size with a large standup shower. Fabulous water pressure and hot water that lasts forever. All the toiletries you need are provided (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand lotion, body lotion) and they even have toothpaste and toothbrush available. There is also a hair dryer.
The wifi works really well. I have no problems working and could use both Whatsapp video and Facetime with zero issues. No problems streaming Netflix. I did not test Zoom, but assume it will be OK (since Facetime is a big bandwidth suck).
Breakfast is about $25 USD. Since there is no fridge in the room and no breakfast places super close, you're kind of stuck. But it is good!! There is hot food (scrambled eggs, squiggly/USA bacon, beans, sausage), typical European cheese/cold cuts, Icelandic yogurt and muesli, fresh fruit (pineapple/kiwi/grapes/oranges), lots of breads, and pastries.
There is a good grocery store around the corner for snacks.
Would I return? For a pleasure trip I would probably want to be closer to the center, but in the summer it might not matter. In the winter, 15 minutes walking each way can be chilly.

Not possible. To much light.
We didnt use buses but the actual bus terminus was only 10 mins walk by the foodhall.
Yes Couple of rowing machines and few free weights which are of the sand bag type/dumb bell type and machines all out of teke wood, mats and such. Hard core heavy weight workout not doable but can still get a good sweat in. I enjoyed the rowers bc not my norm, I supplemented with walking everywhere. The hotel is really nice.
