The Aurora Hotel garners appreciation for its prime location near the airport, which guests find extremely convenient for early flights and accessing car rentals. However, some guests consider it overpriced given the basic amenities offered. Its cleanliness receives high marks, with travelers frequently commending the spotless rooms and diligent housekeeping. While the rooms are spacious, critiques often point to their lack of charm and dated aesthetics. Guests consistently commend the friendly service and are grateful for amenities like the early breakfast, although a quieter atmosphere with more features is desired by some.

The location of the hotel is the first reason I have stayed here. Next to the airport - an easy walk. The room is comfortable and spacious. The bathroom is clean and spacious. There was no sound of planes taking off but you can see them if your room is on the airport side.
The restaurant offers a variety of choices. The wait staff was very pleasant. The breakfast buffet included in the room price has a variety of choices.
Checking in and out is easy and the person at the front desk was very pleasant.

Exceeded expectations. Lovely quiet room with tea/coffee making facilities and free toiletries. Our superior twin room had two double beds on the top floor and we could barely hear any aircraft noise at all. Breakfast was included in the room rate and had a good variety of food including fruit yogurt eggs bacon porridge and the usual bread and pastries. I would recommend this hotel as a great airport stay.

Booked this hotel as our flight arrived 11.55 pm, so did not want to rent a car or drive anywhere (especially during these covid times). It's only a short walk from the airport, but it was very windy, when we arrived so we put on jackets and scarf.

It was about 1 am, when we finally got to the hotel (due to slow bus pick up from the plane and long wait for luggage) and was pleased to find our key and room was ready - really fast check-in! So nice, when all you want is to go to sleep.

As requested we had a 3 bed room, made up with 3 beds and enough towels for 3, room was clean and ok size for 1 night. Beds were comfy.

Shower was nice and hot, breakfast was good - very good bacon and skyr.

Wifi was fast.

Check out was fast as well. Would recommend this hotel, if you need a place very close to the airport.

Alert, be aware you will stay at the hotel with the travelers arriving from countries affected with corona virus.
They do not allow any change of booking or cancel if you booked non refundable and allow high risk corona virus travelers to stay, even by risking guests and employees health.
I booked a non refundable room at Aurora Hotel before corona virus affected Europe. I know that fare was non refundable but due to critical situation with virus most airlines and other hotels allow now to change even non refundable booking.
I planned to arrive to Aurora Hotel after traveling from Germany and other European countries.
Due to corova virus spred in those countries I wrote to a hotel that due to a fact that I will stay at Aurora Hotel after visiting high risk countries, I want to ask is it possible to cancel a reservation with no or not full fee.
The hotel answered me that my booking will be charged a full fee for a booking change or cancel.

We chose to stay at the Airport Hotel Aurora Star at Keflavik Airport for the last night of our 5 night stay in Reykjavik, purely for the convenience of a hotel located right at the airport terminal. With a very early flight, it made sense. The hotel is located across the road / car park from the main terminal building, less than a 5 minute walk. Also, with Keflavik Airport quite a long distance from Reykjavik, staying there saved a very early start and an expensive taxi ride to the airport. And with Icelandair offering evening check-in for the early flight the next morning, the convenience of the hotel was heightened.

However, it was convenience at a price. At €259 per night for what was no more than a 3 star room at best, it was was very expensive by European and international standards. The room we had booked was a ‘Double Superior Room’ described as ‘Spacious Superior Room with two beds’. The room was spacious, but far from superior. The beds were single beds, not queen beds. It was, to be frank, quite basic. Whilst clean and functional it was soulless and totally devoid of charm. We struggled to find a power socket and ended up charging devices in the bathroom. There were no USB ports. The glass tables between the single beds were in my opinion a safety hazard, with their sharpish corners. With a high room price I would have expected a decent coffee machine / pod machine in order to have a freshly brewed coffee; the ‘coffeemaker’ in the room description was a kettle and sachets of instant coffee. The bathroom was clean, but the shower head was broken (as you can see in the photograph) and had to be held whilst showering.

The hotel had decent WiFi with reasonable speed and connectivity.

We had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. This was a pleasant experience, with good food from a limited menu. The Icelandic lamb was excellent, as was the fish (Icelandic cod) with chips. Service was efficient, and food prices reasonable. We did not partake of the breakfast, the price of which is included in the room rate.

I think our room was in the older part of the hotel… a new extension has been built.

I’d probably look a little further afield if convenience is not your major requirement. There’s a Courtyard by Marriott a little further afield from the airport (but in the airport environs), and many options in the nearby town of Keflavik.

Lot's to like about my stay at the Aurora, staff is very helpful in every possible way. The room was spotless, modern, and very much appreciated the modern walk-in shower (vs the bathtub at some hotels) One area for improvement: bathroom lighting over sink is minimal, please consider increased lighting.

I visited the breakfast area once during the stay - as the offering is geared toward a European style breakfast (am American). Kudos to the amazing Dining Area staff for the excellent presentation and spotless attention to order/cleanliness (5 stars!).

Building is currently undergoing renovation (Aug 2022) - therefore loud construction noise only during the day in your room. I highly recommend as the hotel is a five minute walk from the airport (the rooms are soundproof).

The advantage of staying in this hotel is its location, near the airport, about 300 steps walk. Check in efficient, with on-site restaurant which is expensive. Room noisy, can hear people in other rooms and corridor talking, also sound of running taps from other rooms and planes taking off/flying by. Shower screen does not prevent water from flooding the bathroom. £180 a night is not cheap.

I had stayed at I had stayed at Airport Hotel Aurora around four years ago and enjoyed my stay at the time so decided to use the hotel after a late night arrival from UK on our latest visit.

Check-in was smooth and we were in our room within minutes. The superior room was spacious and more than comfortable for our one night stay. There was a good amount of storage space and the WiFi worked well, from the window there was a view of KEF Airport and the surrounding area but there was no noise at all considering how close the hotel was to the airport.

The bathroom was fine with a powerful shower and a small range of toiletries provided. Breakfast started early but we went after the initial rush so it was fairly quiet and we were impressed with the Buffet selection which was plentiful.

It was a lovely short stay at Aurora. When we booked we were aware of building works taking place as the hotel will double in size after the extension but we experienced no noise issues at all. The hotel's location is unbeatable being a few minutes walk from the terminal. Absolutely recommend the hotel.

Organized a trip to Iceland starting in May 2020.
UNLIKE all other hotels, who offered due to corona very flexible change conditions, this hotel only allows for pre-payments, a 1 time change of schedule, which needs to be fixed before previously booked arrival.
Conversations with the hotel always ended by them pointing to their terms and conditions. I tried to change the schedule and was offered a nearlydoubled nightly rate.
The way, this hotels treats customers is fully inexceptable.

This hotel shouldn‘t be booked at all!

The Aurora does not look charming from the outside, but our room was surprisingly modern furbished and spacious. We especially appreciated not having a carpet but a laminated floor. The location was perfect for us as we had to drop off our luggage at the airport five AM and easy to do as it’s just two minutes walking away. The breakfast buffet was small but offered a good selection of items. Overall good value and recommended to consider.
