Hotel Keflavik receives high marks for its cleanliness, with guests often describing the accommodations as spotless. The range of amenities, including diverse dining options and a well-regarded breakfast buffet, is regularly praised by travelers. While the atmosphere earns acclaim for its polished look, opinions are split over the decor and noise levels in communal areas.
Although the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness, some guests mention space constraints and disturbances. The service stands out as a highlight, with staff members earning accolades for their exceptional care. However, the hotel's value is questioned due to its pricing and additional costs for services like early check-in.

Detailed Reviews
Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights in late January 2020 with breakfast included. The hotel was about 5 minutes taxi journey from Keflavik airport which was perfect for us. It is about 20 minutes from the Blue Lagoon. A taxi cost us around £85 OR 14000 krona for a return journey to the Blue lagoon. This was at a discounted price as we booked through the hotel reception. When we stayed there they were having some work done in the lobby area which i should mention didnt bother us at all and the changes they were making looked excellent. The service and cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. The room was clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable. The shower was very good and not just a dribble like other hotels and the bathroom well lit. There is a fitness suite there which we didn't use so I can't comment on that. A buffet breakfast was included with the room and it consisted of cooked English breakfast, cereal, continental, fruit, juices, hot drinks and again the quality was good. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times and it was excellent quality and reasonably priced for a hotel. The town is around 5 to 10 minutes walk from the hotel where there are other places to eat and various shops. There is a petrol station down the road from the hotel which has the provisions you may need. It is quite near the coast and it was nice to walk down there during the day and at night to try and spot the northern lights. Overall we found the hotel very well situated for the airport, clean, very friendly staff and excellent food. Only thing to improve is more choice on the dinner menu. 9/10

We picked this hotel for our last night's stay as we had a very early flight, so the free breakfast from 5am and the free shuttle were great - and saved us a pig early start from Reykjavik. We combined our stay with a stint at the blue lagoon in the afternoon, and the hotel were really helpful organising a taxi to pick us up and take us to the hotel (approx ISK 6,500). I'm not sure if the hotel is midway through renovating - we couldn't see any works underway - but it felt quite disjointed. The lobby and restaurant areas were really elegent, lots of marble and glass, cool lights etc. But the rooms looked like straight out of the 80's! a bit basic, old bathroom fittings and tired decor. We also had a little trouble at the restaurant when we arrived at 9.15pm and had been told the kitchen open till 9.30pm for dinner, but although they were almost full, the waitress refused us dinner! She then reluctantly let us sit after checking with reception, but then only offered 1 dish on the menu mistaking us for airline staff! It was all rectified in the end and they apologised for the mix up, and the meal was delicious, but it made it a bit stressful on our last night. An unexpected bonus, was walking out to the nearby beach after dinner and spotting a shy northern lights!

The hotel has the most helpful and courteous staff you can hope for, they are always prompt to respond to requests and do so with a fantastic attitude. The hotel was recently had major renovations and has a fantastic feel from the moment you enter the lobby. The breakfast provided by the hotel will not let you down it is both diverse and delicious. If you are flying into KEF this is the hotel to stay at!

The hotel looks nice when you arrive inside but first you have to go up two steps which is not convenient for an "Airport hotel" knowing everybody has one or more suitcases.
Then we waited about 15 minutes to finally get checked-in and the rooms were a BAD surprise for us. The single room was very small, next to the elevator (noisy) and the bathroom is appalling. Small sink, no cap, no amenities and nowhere to put your toilet bag. A tatty shower with moist! The Deluxe room was only half refurbished and the bathroom, again, was old, no amenities, no sink cap and an old broken hairdryer on the wall. Both rooms had nothing to do with the rooms we had booked on the hotel website but apparently, some rooms are refurbished and some aren’t. It’s a lottery but the price is the same! I informed the reception but “since the manager was not there”, there was nothing they could do. And of course, the hotel was “fully booked” so the person in the single room could not get another room.
Once in the restaurant, the food was good but the service from one of the young waitresses was really unkind.
When we checked out early the next morning, the receptionist offered us a 15% discount on the rooms and a 12% discount on F&B. Correct but they need to put the proper pictures on their website and not lie to customers. The hotel management seem to be non-Islandic people and you can see the difference! It’s a bad image for Island where people are respectful and kind.

Beautiful hotel in a very convenient location. It’s surrounded by restaurants, convenience stores (including a 24 location around the corner) and grocery stores. The restaurant in the hotel, for those who don’t want to travel very far to eat, serves very delicious and high quality foods. The staff that we’ve interacted with all speak excellent English and were always willing to go above and beyond to help make our stay the best it could be. The WiFi was solid and never gave us any issues during work meetings. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Keflavik area.

The standard rooms are small, but with good beds and nice bathrooms. The restaurant is absolutely good, but....
They claim to have a sauna, but th sauna is nothing more than a poorly heated, dirty closet in a corner of the cellar. There are no dressing rooms or showers, so you have to parade through the gym to get to the showers and dressrooms. (No bathrobes avallable).
You charge you in Euros or dollars, using a 5% higher exchange rate than your creditcardcompany does. Completely unasked and unnessesary, with creditcards you can pay in any currency.
Breakfast is included, but when you have to be at the airport before 6.00 am there is no breakfast and no refund. You can get a breakfastbox, but have to pay extra for that !
Although hotel and restaurant are basically quite ok, these things spoil the experiance. Next time we book hotel Jazz, much simpeler and cheaper, but breakfast is availabale even early in the morning and dinner can be found in various good restaurants in the naberhood. ( you can even dine in hotel Keflafik if you want)

I have visited many countries and stayed at many hotels. Hotel Keflavik will be the worst in my list. I have never had such horrible experience staying in any hotels. I think giving this hotel a one star is more than it deserves.
When we arrived the hotel for checking in after a long day of hiking tired and exhausted at 8pm, there were no one in the reception for more than 30 minutes while we waited for checking in. I had to go to the bar to inform that no one at the reception. At that point someone called the lady in the reception on her phone informing our presence and in spite of that she did not show up for another 15/20 minutes.
Once she arrived, she gave us a triple room which is in the basement. This triple room is a basically a single room converted into a room for three people. I am sure a Jail Cell will have more space than that. It is impossible to walk in the room if you have more than one suitcase!!! We had to keep our luggage in the bathroom. In any case, it was for one night so we thought it would be fine. But alas, in order to go to this room, one has to carry their own luggage down since no elevators to access this room.
When finally we arrived at the room and visited the bathrooms, there were no soaps/shampoo etc in the bathroom. We had to call the receptionist again who after another 30 minutes brought the toiletries to the room.

Our son stayed in the Junior Suite and we were in the Diamond Suite (separate review). This hotel is very nice, probably the best in Keflavik. The Junior suite is large and comfortable for 2 people only (a daybed would not fit). It had an ocean view, upgraded amenities and modern bathroom. The only disappointment: the restaurant was closed over New Years eve and day, but was absolutely delicious when we had dinner another evening. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance. The service and staff at this hotel are incredible - we will be back!

Without a doubt a 5 star hotel. I was staying the the hotel Keflavik guesthouse for 14 days. The room Was clean, heated floors and comfortable bed with tv. The staff was super friendly, helpful and I have never seen a hotels staff team be so accommodating to its guest. We had asked for microwave and espresso machine and the coffee cups to put in the common area, 30 mins later we had them. I think one of the most important things for me when I go to a the hotel is the food. If you go to hotel Keflavik you will not be disappointed, the food is amazing. The breakfast had all the different kinds of breads, fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, and eggs. The KEF burger was perfectly done, and you have to try the coffee creme brulee. Most hotel alway say there WiFi is fast but hotel Keflavik really has been fast. I played a lot of online games and streamed Netflix and Hulu and never once was the WiFi slow or dropped me out of a game.
This hotel is amazing if your looking for a great experience and want to be taken care of hotel Keflavik is for you.

About 10 minutes drive from the airport, taxis will bring you here (I had been told they would not). It costs a lot less to come here than to go to the airport hotel next to the terminal building. The rooms are small and basic but it's a great place to crash after an overnight flight and the showers worked well. The hallways can be a little loud during the day but we all slept OK. If you arrive before 10am, there is a very good buffet breakfast with interesting items. Below the hotel is a full-service gym which allows hotel guests to use it. There is also sauna and tanning booths. During the summer the rooms are warm so you want to have cool clothes to wear and open the windows. We don't know why but our doors never actually stay locked and we weren't able to get connecting rooms even though we had reserved them for the night before our morning arrival. Best to call the front desk a few hours before arrival to make sure pre-arrival room requests will be honored. Don't count on email even if someone replies; they might not tell the next person on shift at the front desk. For us, this was a place to crash for a few hours before checking into the Blue Lagoon Retreat hotel in mid-afternoon. Aside from this purpose, I don't see why we'd stay here for an extended period unless you had a reason to be in this area.
