Boutique hotel well located in Copenhagen, cool interior and friendly busy atmosphere, however, I question the whole eco friendly bandwagon it is trying to crusade on. At the micro level there were disposable items where reusable made more sense, the stairs are so steep the elevator is the only option, and they have dead animals stuffed on their wall. In not a vegetarian and not overly offended by these and maybe they are replicas, but if you're gonna use the environment as your marketing ploy a bit of consistency would be nice.
We have booked this hotel for it's cozy, charming and unique look and its eco features. And we were not dissapointed. It has a very funky, casual, but yet somehow classy feel. It is conviniently located just few minutes walk away from the main train station and Tivoli, and within easy walking distance to the old town. All the staff were super nice and welcoming. We loved the egg chairs in the lobby, the courtyard and this cute bedroom deco with dragonfly motives. The room itself was suprisingly quite small, given we have booked a superior one, it was barely a room to walk around the bed. The bed and bed linen though were really, really comfy and we had really good rest. The bathroom with a separate bath and walk in shower was amazing, the decor was very charmy and all the provided bath and body products were absolutely gorgeous too. The bath was large and the rain shower was great too. . However the bathroom floor is not leveled very well as each time one of us was taking a shower, the entire floor was getting flooded - so badly that you could not even use a toilet after the shower without getting your feet all wet. And all that water just stayed there on the floor, so we had to keep pushing it down the drain with the towels. Someone came up the first day to check/clean the drain, but that did not help much at all. The next day it was exactly the same. We were offered another room, but since it was half way through our stay and the new room was without the bath and balcony, we didn't decide to move. Overall our stay was very good, but that shower experience really spoiled it unfortunatelly, not what you expect from a 4 star hotel in the European capital.…
I cannot express how wonderful our stay was at the hotel. Everyone was extremely helpful, friendly and smiling. The room was tastefully decorated, lovely body and hair products in the bathroom and small well thought out needs. Eco friendly! I slept like a princess. An added plus is the collaboration between the hotel and the restaurant Vago. The food was divine, delicious vegan options as well! The inner courtyard and atrium added so much to the tranquil ambiance of the whole hotel. I already want to go back!
I have stayed at many hotels in the world and this one is definitely on my list of favorites. The service was wonderful . All the staff members were great and especially Shahid and Dina were incredibly kind and helpful. Our room was perfect after a day of exploring Copenhagen. It was cozy comfortable and the beds were great and the aesthetics were unique. I highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Copenhagen !
Very nice hotel, good location with all the sustainable fancy stuff, very kind staff. Sleep quality was not great though, as there is no A/C, and we had a top floor room, it was very hot, so we had to escape the room as quickly as possible during the day as well. It stayed hot for the night too, and since the room was facing the bar, it was also too noisy when the window was open. The bar should close at 10 pm, but it was not the case. Wifi was also super weak, almost unusable. Breakfast is very expensive and not included in the room rate, also feels overrated. With all these, the hotel is on the way too expensive end. I would recommend this hotel though, if you are not traveling in hot weather.
My stay here definitely set the bar extremely high on the rest of my travels after Copenhagen. From the service to the rooms, the hotel exceeded all my expectations and more. It's incredibly convenient and appreciated their efforts in representing sustainability in their hotels. Will visit again soon!
I’ve stayed at many, many hotels in my life and this one was by FAR the coolest, nicest, cleanest one I’ve stayed at, and the breakfast truly was one fantastic delight! Great location, super friendly staff, and focused on sustainability. Cant wait to come again!
Really love this hotel. This was my 3rd visit, but the first with my family. Everyone loved it. It is the nice relaxing atmosphere combined with the beautiful and comfortable rooms, and the sustainable approach. The inner yard is a nice and relaxing place to just relax or enjoy a drink or a meal. Tired after walking the streets an entire day? No problem, the restaurant has excellent food with friendly service. Finally the location is fabulous. So close to the train station, Ströget, Tivoli etc. Perfect whether you are in Copenhagen for business or pleasure.
I had read mixed reviews about the Axel Guldsmeden, so was rather apprehensive. Don’t be!! It was a wonderful hotel. We had a Junior Suite for less than the price of a standard room in the UK. 2 reviews stood out. One complained about no fridge… Copenhagen is a city aiming to be carbon neutral by 2025; 49% of its population go to work by bicycle. Why would you waste valuable resources by putting an energy inefficient fridge in all rooms when probably only a few people actually use them?! The other thing was a complaint about staff… Danish people are direct and open. Perhaps you complained too much! All told, we had a fabulous holiday in a hotel very accessible to everywhere, Would we go back? In a heartbeat!
We stayed three nights at this Copenhagen hotel in early June. It was the second time we have stayed at this property. It is conveniently located to Copenhagen’s superb mass transit systems. Rooms are spacious and have all the necessary amenities. We did not have breakfast, but the breakfast spread was extensive. We opted to have breakfast at one of the many nearby small cafes and coffee shops. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
