Great 10 nights at Domes of Elounda. We are a family of 4 including 2 small children. We found the hotel well positioned between Elounda and Plaka towns (only a 15 min walk away) for some exploring. The hotel itself is great, very clean and all the rooms provide privacy from other guests. We enjoyed the beach the most but the pool was also great! The staff really made us all feel welcome, they’re fantastic with our kids and made us feel welcome (thank you to the team at Tholos and reception especially). Food was great throughout, Blend and Topos offered a nice change from the daily buffet. We were upgraded upon arrival and changed rooms half way through our stay as we requested a better view - again amazing attentive staff. Thank you!
We loved our week long stay here with our two year olds. Highlights: -our son loved the Creche/kids club and went happily for 3 hours daily. Eleni, the manager there, was kind and caring and filled us with confidence. The space is lovely with loads of toys and both indoor and outdoor space - we were upgraded to a villa and it was beautiful. Comfy beds, terrace, outdoor kitchen - breakfast was delicious! -the staff were ALL friendly and helpful, not a single one of them could we fault - the beach is gorgeous, calm sea, shallow water, shade from trees or sun if you want it. Towels and water brought to your sun bed - golf buggies whizz you all round the resort with a few minutes notice. Amazing for me with a toddler and being pregnant! So fun too Thank you domes, we will be back!
The attention you are given by the staff is exceptional. Hotel and grounds are beautiful. Their private beach is perfect - we would spend most the day on the beach and then move to one of their pools. It is a big property but staff drive gulf carts to take you where you want to go. As a Marriott member, we were upgraded to a suite with a hot tub on the balcony with a lovely view. Try their Topos seafood restaurant! We did twice. Two suggestions for the hotel 1) Have a separate adult beach area - we love children but on a vacation to relax, we do not want screaming kids. 2) More entertainment - they had live greek music at the Topos restaurant and a guitar player on several nights in the lobby bar. Nice but a DJ with dance music would have been fun.
During the week we stayed there this hotel came close to 5*, very close as it is ever so good. So to start with the ‘star’ missed, that was both related to an awful check-in and the buffet restaurant. We arrived late, check in seemed to take an age and once pointed to our room (which was upgraded but we weren’t aware), the key worked for electricity but didn’t operate the door lock. We were assured welcome sandwiches would suit a veggie. Not only did they not do that, they were bland and unpleasant for the omnivore! A Greek salad could be ordered and paid for, so helped that. The buffet restaurant food was OK if sometimes cool, and does feel like a canteen. We gave up on it and eat in Elounda and the other super restaurants on site. The ‘bad’ bit seems to have been too long, so let’s get to where this hotel really is GREAT. Staff are wonderfully attentive and genuinely friendly in all parts of the hotel. Location is great, rooms are perfectly clean, importantly bed was very comfortable. We loved our private pool, though was chilly in early Oct. We used ‘Blend’ for breakfast, and a couple of lunches and evening meals. Absolutely perfect in terms of service and food on every occasion. Topos at the beach is a seafood restaurant, but great for veggie or red meat as well as the setting and staff being perfect. We ate out in some good places, but Topos was arguably the best we experienced. The Haute Living area was friendly and again staff perfect, a quiet place to relax and ideal to shower and change before travel home. This is a lovely property, if a little sprawling and you may well need to use the golf carts. Good for couples, but from what I saw perfect for families with children who will find a haven here. To summarise, this place is wonderful but we had a niggly start…don’t let that put you off.…
This was our 4th time since 2015 staying at Domes. Every single time we felt at home and relaxed fully! The layout of the resort, the design of the suites and houses, the quality of food, the amenities, everything was fantastic and luxurious. But above everything is the friendliness and warm welcome of the staff, every visit they went above and beyond to make our stay amazing! The buggy rides were always fun and loved by our kids, as well as the beach, well managed by Alex. And big thank you to the kids club, Eleni and her colleagues, created fun activities for our kids! We hope to come back again in the future and can highly recommend this great resort.
