BUILT 1640 | RESTORED 2022 The Hotel AZADE is noble, kind and free spirited and is inviting you to enter its private world of true Cretan Hospitality. Azade is in the heart of the Old City of Chania. The building, a 17th century Venetian and Ottoman villa, has a rich history. Notable among its former owners and residents are American poet and artist Charles Henri Ford, as well as an Ottoman Pasha whose name sadly eludes records. Our hotel offers 9 state of the art rooms and suites.

Cute little hotel with nice rooms - despite the lack of storage space and leaning to design over function. Limited breakfast in a small outside courtyard is cool. If you are not driving and just staying here then it works - but if not the real issue is parking and location. The town is pedestrian only so you will need to walk with your luggage to the hotel through cobbled streets and because there is no parking - really no parking the small car park is always full - near the pedestrian entrance nearest the hotel you may have another 15 minute walk to get to the entrance of the town. There is no drop off space nor area near the pedestrian entrance to the town and what there is, is just filled with cars and cars waiting to find a space. We stayed a few days and ended up driving around for up 45 minutes to find a space - the hotel receptionist just seemed to accept this and helpfully told us she never had a problem!! Sadly cannot recommend this hotel due to the parking issues.

Hotel's Favourite
Visiting Crete was a highlight of our vacation but staying in Azade Chania was the real difference! The hotel is amazing well constructed and with a very relaxing and elegant atmosphere! The building is amazing but the special touch is the personnel of the hotel! Xanthos, the manager is the soul of the hotel and an example of Cretan hospitality! Do not miss the chance to ask him about the history of the building and the island in general! His suggestions for places/beaches to visit and activities to do In the island were really amazing and filled our holidays with memories and photos!! All members of the staff are very friendly and make you feel like home! We are definitely going back!

This is a beautiful hotel in a fascinating building, in the very centre of town but so peaceful and quiet. The terrace my room had was gorgeous and a great size. The breakfast is enormous and lovely! The staff are so friendly and kind. I will 100% return to this hotel and highly recommend it for a stay in the old town of Chania

The staff at Azade were all excellent from the time we booked our reservations until we left. They all went beyond the extra mile. Our room was amazing and we felt very pampered. We had a welcome plate of Cretan delights when we arrived. The daily breakfast was superb and beyond our expectations. The staff booked our boat trip and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. We also had exceptional hotel transfers arranged by Azade staff prior to arriving. We thank Xanthos , Artemis, Maria Eva and all the staff at Azade for making our stay memorable.

The hotel kept all of its promises. It' small, intimate and luxurious.(The soundproofing needs working on-—I know, it's a 17th century house). The feeling of luxury, history and exclusiveness is everywhere, from the decor to the room equipment. The staff is helpful , exquisitely friendly and sweet.(Thank you to the manager, the reception staff Maria and Artemis, and the breakfast attendant Eva).Breakfast is marvellous and hearty. NOTE:there is a small step between the bathroom and the entrance corridor in our room(#202)that needs to be enhanced otherwise people can trip on it, especially in the dark. Otherwise,my wife, my daughter and I ,had a fantastic stay! Thanks a million!

One of the most beautiful and relaxing hotels I've attended. The staff were beyond kind, the interior design is tasteful, and the location is perfect -right in the heart of Chania. I would definitely go back.

The best hotel we have ever stayed in! The location, the service, the breakfast, the rooms! My husband and I stayed in the Cretan life suite for our honeymoon and we fell in love with Azade. From check-in to check-out everything was perfect. Their team went above and beyond to make our trip wonderful. Stay here. It is the obvious choice (p.s. the beds are heavenly). We actually miss the hotel!!

We can't say enough good things about the Azade, Chania. A restored pasha's palace, the 9-room hotel feels like a contemporary art museum. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. Maria personally walked us to our suite and left us to enjoy afternoon snacks of kalitsounia, lychnarakis (sweet and savory pastries), nuts, and water. Our bedroom was quite spacious and overlooked busy Zampeliou Street, but it was always quiet at night. The living room/kitchen part of the suite was also spacious and beautifully appointed with original works of art. The daily breakfast was a beautiful spread of pastries, coffee/tea, yogurt, dakos, cheeses and meats. Then there were made-to-order options--eggs, hot cereal, fruit, etc. Eva knew what we liked by the second morning. The housekeeping staff had our rooms made up by the time we'd returned from breakfast! The inner courtyard, which may soon have a spa, was a great place to hang out midday, when we wanted a break from the throngs of tourists. Artemis and Xanthos, along with Maria, answered our daily questions and offered great suggestions on where (and where not) to go. They made our stay so much more personal and memorable.

Beautiful hotel, attention to detail everywhere with absolutely beautiful touches and interiors. The man on reception was so helpful and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Perfectly nestled away right at the top of the romantic steps. Highly recommend. Only downside was that the shower on the balcony was not working however the hotel had just opened hopefully this is fixed now.
