Having reviewed most of the hotels online we decided to stay here for 2 nights due to the central location and great views.

The staff were very friendly and attentive.

The hotel was also very good at ensuring everyone followed the guidelines due to the coronavirus. This made you feel very relaxed.

The hotel has a large terrace on the 4th floor providing amazing views during breakfast or the rest of the day.

my partner and I stayed here for a week. The location is good and the views are amazing. People are friendly. What surprised me is that the breakfast was not included in the price and to be honest 7,5 euros per person for breakfast is too much, especially what's offered and knowing that if you take breakfast in a local cafe you might pay 3 or 4 per person.
The hotel needs urgent maintenance.
We had a safe in the room that we could not use as it was not working.

We stayed for two days whilst visiting family in the area. This is a business hotel but with views to die for! Room was both comfortable and practical ...... and the vista from the balcony stunning. Breakfast was good, proper orange juice for a change, and the staff were both friendly and professional. Recommended!

We spent one night here. We had booked a 'Junior Suite' in the old palacete section of the hotel. The first thing I had to do was call reception to request toilet paper for the bathroom. When we returned to our room after dining in Setubal, we decided to bathe and go to bed. Then we noticed the noise, sounds of furniture being dragged along a floor, persistent banging and what sounded like drilling. We called reception to ask if any work was taking place (even though it was by now 11 p.m.). The receptionist could hear the noise on the other end of the phone, it was that bad. It turned out a conference party was using the roof-top dining room three floors above us and we could hear their chairs being scraped along the floor and the elevator taking them to and from the dining room. Fortunately the hotel was not full and ,despite the hour, we were offered a choice of three alternative rooms. Two were no improvement because of the noise of neighbourhood dogs barking. We finally found one which was relatively quiet and were able to sleep.

For a Four-Star rated hotel the Sado was a great disappointment. Apart from the noise and the toilet paper, the breakfast choice was very meagre (cereals, rolls, toast and drinks), and not fresh. However, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, particular the night receptionist who held us find an alternative room and our breakfast waiter.

we stayed on a business trip and were lucky to stay in one of the suites they have, which was huge !
All the staff were very friendly, food in the restaurant was excellent, very good value and with a fantastic view of the whole city, but beware, it's not open on a Sunday !
Great views of the city and harbour from all the rooms and the sun terrace, which though, I think they should have made into a pool instead and there is also nothing to do for the kids.
One last thing, having a great view comes with a price, it is on one of the highest hills, which is ok going into the town but coming back up is a true workout !

Just returned from a short business trip in Portugal and stayed overnight at the Do Sado Hotel.
The hotel is a little strange as it’s upside down! With the floors to the rooms on the lower floors to the reception, but in the morning at breakfast i understood why, the view from the restaurant is fantastic, you look out across the sea meeting the blue protégé’s sky its very nice indeed.
The room I stayed in was enormous extremely clean and well fitted, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent, a very good visit but much too short !

The hotel is a fake! It looks good on the surface - on distance - but big parts of it is completely rundown, with cockroaches. The wifi doesn't work in many of the rooms. The hotel is simply terribly bad managed, with a manger that walks a round as a ghost without ever greeting the guests. To get to the hotel one has to hike for a half an hour a steep road up the hills - the question is if it's worth it - in our opinion not! We'll never hike back!

I stayed there in August. The stuff were very kind. The hotel is composed by a old building very charming, and a new building (where are the new rooms) . My room was at the old building. To go there, you have to use an old and very narrow elevator, not suitable for a 4 stars, but ok. The room was big and nicely decorated, with windows arch and ancient forniture. Very charming, with wood at floor and roof. However the bathroom was small and very old, with hairs and marks...disgusting for me.
The worst was the lack of air conditioning. This was the hell. I choose this hotel beacause it had air coditionning!. It was boling inside the room, I thought the air conditioning would need some minutes to start working (it was a very very very hot day and I could hear a great noise from it). But it didn't worked, and I was sweeting as I was inside a oven so I asked in reception and they told me the air condicioning worked well, but it needed some hours. I waited 3 hours and the air conditionning didn't worked, I only got the noise. I was desperate, I opened the windows but temperature outside was the same that inside. I was sweeting, my hair was wet, so I go to Reception once again and finally they told me that the rooms at the old building didn't have air conditioning (so it'll never worked), the hotel was full so they could'n change my room for one with air conditionnig. I only could sleep at the end of the night, when it stars refressing outside, with the open windows. So I'll never come back.

On top of the city there lies this hotel with a great service, good rooms and good food.
On our first night we had dinner at the hotel and enjoyed the night view over the city of Setúbal. We managed to have a good night's rest and enjoyed a visit through the city and some of it's tourist points and beaches.

how far to walk to hotel from the bus station
Answer from Marta F
Setubal, Portugal9 contributions
Dear Gillian, If you're doing it without any luggage, 30minutes would be enough. But considering you might have at least a backpack, I would definitelly recommend getting a taxi, which is 5€. The hotel is located on a hill and medium/high level of difficulty of a hike.
