Detailed Reviews
We have heard so much about Martinhal as a brand and were excited to try the hotel as a nice mix of a city break but with pool and hotel amenities so there was no pressure to go out some days. We stayed for a week with our toddler who is 2 and a half in a two bed apartment.
Accomodation
The apartment was amazing! Beautifully furnished, well equipped with crockery and felt very safe for kids, high chairs, step up stools, cots, bed guards all provided. Only fault on the appartnment and things I'd maybe expected because of posts on Instagram was plastic crockery (though we asked for this and they did provide it.) and additionally we were expecting a little goodie bag for my son as I have seen this on lots of other posts on Instagram but perhaps they don't do them at this hotel or only for gifted stays.
Breakfast
The breakfast staff team were AMAZING! So so friendly, brought out colouring for our little boy on a day when he wasn't so keen on sitting, made a fuss of him. Plastic crockery available and high chairs. A great selection of hot and cold foods, salmon, pancakes, cereals, fruit, pastries, eggs and the best orange juice I have literally ever had in my life!
Facilities
The main reason we booked this hotel was perfect! The pool was just lovely, really well maintained, always clean and tidy and you felt like your child could splash around without bothering anyone, I tried the outdoor pool for 30 seconds, a bit too cold in winter but will be so beautiful in Summer! The kids Club Room can be used all day with adult supervision, toys for pre schoolers right up to board games and games consoles for older children. Really nice to have a space to go chill out for an hour where my son would be occupied.
Location
Yes it is a bit out of town but the bus is less than 5mins walk and then 25 minutes to the centre of lisbon, very reliable cheap service. Metro 10 minutes walk away. So it was easy to get into Lisbon and enjoy the sights and sounds. Lots of restaurants nearby, recommend Zero Zero a lovely pizza place we went to twice. Also Aquarium, Science Museum and Cable car all a few minutes walk and great fun, at the end of the cable car there is lots of places to eat and a playground.
Reception staff were also amazing, gave us lots of information answered all my questions. We would deffo recommend and certainly return. Perfect way to do a city break with young children!

I stayed in Martinhal Oriente for one week over Easter with my 5 year old son. We have stayed in the Martinhal jn Sagres a few times and the one in Cascais before it was sold and I love the brand for the child-friendly philosophy. I decided to try the new Oriente hotel as Easter fell too early for a beach holiday and we love exploring cities. It was an absolutely perfect holiday.
The apartments are very well-equipped for a family holiday with an excellent small kitchen which gave us the option of cooking a few nights, and a washer-drier. The bedrooms are also away from the corridor which means they are much quieter than in other hotels and very comfortable.
The pool area was perfect with a small child and the kids room is really well equipped for a range of ages up to teenagers (pool table and gaming screens).
The staff are helpful, attentive to children which is really lovely because kids are often treated as invisible in other hotels, and always very friendly. We recognised Seema, the hotel manager, from our time in Cascais two years ago and she was delightful as ever. Very much on top of all the details in the hotel and quick to react when my son had a little accident out and about in Lisbon.
The location is a bit outside the city but we used a combination of Metro and Ubers to get around. We visited the aquarium (just two blocks away) twice, the zoo, the natural history museum and botanical gardens, did a boat trip, and explored the city and the Castelo San Jorge. Fortunately Lisbon has so much to see and do that we would happily go back and not repeat the same experiences.
The breakfast and dinners were very good and the Easter Sunday brunch was a particular treat.
I would highly recommend a visit. We chose Oriente over the Chiado Martinhal because of the pools and it was a great choice. We didn’t even leave the hotel one of the days which is exceptional for a city hotel!

Martinhal do a great job of looking after families with young kids in all their properties and Lisbon Oriente is the same; great facilities, excellently appointed and set up hotel room, great breakfast, a kids club for young kids and a kids zone for older kids to hold their attention and give adults some down time. The pools (indoor and outdoor) are a great size and well maintained and the trampoline on the side of the outdoor pool is a huge hit with kids. The location is a 15 min (€10) Uber ride or a 20 min metro ride from the centre of Lisbon and the immediate surrounding are of the hotel has a host of kids attractions plus shops, restaurants and bars. Everything about this hotel worked perfectly for our long weekend in Lisbon and the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you Martinhal

+1
I stayed with a girlfriend and we loved that our suite (a studio) had all the conveniences of an apartment with clean kitchen appliances, tableware, a tea and coffee set, a table, a sofa to rest and the most fluffy comfortable huge bed! The shower was also impeccable and of course, everything brand new and top quality. Our breakfast was a highlight, from the pastries to a fun healthy twist on avocado toast and more. Didn't get to use the very inviting swimming pools on this occasion but that's a nice and rare perk in a hot city!
In the area we enjoyed long riverside walks, a trip to the Oceanarium and the Science Pavilion and we both agreed, we'll be back with our families. It's a great place for family, friends and anyone looking to stay and live in Lisbon like a local.

Dear Mrs. Tonissoo, We're thrilled you and your friend enjoyed your stay in one of our studios! Your wonderful review is highly appreciated, and we are delighted to know that you found the apartment well equipped and the food delicious. While you didn't get the chance to enjoy our inviting swimming pools this time around, we're pleased to have them as an additional amenity for our guests. It's indeed a rare and refreshing perk, especially in a hot city like Lisbon. We look forward to welcoming you, your families, and anyone seeking an authentic Lisbon experience back in the future! Thank you! Kind regards, Seema Lodi Hotel Director

Martinhal hotel on the first line. Sea, restaurants, shops, excursion kiosks, Vasco da Gama store, parking. The hotel is clean and quiet, beautiful spacious rooms, comfortable furniture. The staff who served us at breakfast, Sharlene and Tomas, were constantly smiling and polite. Hearty breakfasts: cold cuts, vegetables, casseroles, omelettes, hot dishes, cereals, juices, bacon, pastries. The elevator is very convenient, which is important: the hotel has 14 floors. The night is in beautiful purple lighting, which conveys a special beauty. The room has air conditioning, refrigerator and TV, washing machine, toaster, kettle. Small kitchen with amenities. Everything works well. We had a room on the 2nd floor. Since the windows are well insulated, the room is completely silent. Cleaned daily, efficiently. Towels and linen are changed once a day. . The hotel offers lunch and dinner. Prices are reasonable. all the amenities to spend time with the children and go nearby to the oceanarium and other places, as well as the embankment. In general, the Martinhal is very good, we are vacationing for the second time this year in a row and we liked this hotel the most. Thanks to them!)

We stayed here for our last two days in Lisbon. It is a bit far from the busy tourist areas, but it is still in a very nice location. We stayed in a studio, it has everything we need, including washing machine. They have two pools, I only used the outdoor one as weather is still hot. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

This is certainly one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Every detail of what you may need in your hotel room as a family, or individual, has been carefully thought of, the restaurant menu is vast and exquisite and the bright hotel decor reflects colourful Lisbon! Hotel staff are most helpful and friendly too and the garden and pool allows you to relax whilst being in the capital.
The hotel is in a quiet area and isn't too far from the airport yet next to some fantastic restaurants, the aquarium, science museum and gorgeous walks along the estuary.
We will definitely be returning!

Fantastic hotel! Fantastic location!
Quite rear to find the balance of luxury hotel with all the benefits of a family resort yet located in the heart of a bustling city with so much on offer to experience. This hotel manages to do just that resulting in ticking all boxes for a demanding 4 year old and both parents.
Having stayed in the Martinhal branch in Cascais I expected a certain standard of accommodation and service and was not disappointed at all. The location however, exceeded all expectations. Having only ever visited the centre of Lisbon for a few hours in the past, I was unfamiliar with the surrounding park of nations location. There is so much to do from world class Aquariums to cable carts and interactive science museums, not to mention the plethora of great dining venues. However, on days that you just feel lick chilling in the hotel then there is plenty to keep the kids entertained while the adults can enjoy the food and services of a surprisingly tranquil environment in what feels like a cocoon in the heart of a vibrant city.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and location to anyone!

Having stayed in two of the other Martinhal resorts, we had confidence that we would experience an excellent stay at Oriente, and weren’t disappointed.
The hotel being new (June 2023) is well appointed, clean and has all the modern touches you would expect. And the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 2 bed and it was clean, spacious and decked out with “Smeg” appliances, which all seem to be hardly used. If you are self catering mostly then a couple of supermarkets are 10 minutes away.
It’s very close to the Aquarium, Science Museum and a plethora of bars and restaurants as well. The Metro is a 10 minute walk and it’s 15 mins to the airport.
The breakfast is a wide spread and not at all dissimilar to the other Martinhal properties.
Overall a great place to stay.
