Vitor's Plaza garners praise for its immaculate communal areas and well-kept apartments, with many guests highlighting the cleanliness and inviting atmosphere. Although some visitors find the hotel's location a bit isolated, the proximity to the beach is a plus for beachgoers. The rooms receive accolades for their spaciousness and comfort, but some guests feel that maintenance could be improved.
While the hotel's amenities, including the pools and on-site facilities, are generally well-received, opinions on value are mixed, with additional costs for amenities sometimes noted. The service is commended for its friendliness, though not without occasional hiccups in efficiency.

Detailed Reviews
Vitors Plaza is situated about half way between Alvor and Portimao. Both are walkable Alvor about 30 mins about 5 Euros taxi and Portimao about 45 mins walk or 7 Euros taxi. The beach is about 20 minutes walk and is fantastic. The complex itself is very clean and all staff are brilliant. The restaurant is a little expensive and there are cheaper places around to eat. The snack bar wasn't open when we were there.
The room itself was great very big for an apartment and clean. Room servicing was great and the staff brilliant. The apartment has everything you need for self catering except an oven, there is a microwave that has grill capability, but we managed staying for 4 weeks.
The complex has mini golf which is in poor condition and not worth it, the same for skittles and shuffleboard. The indoor pool is small but very good. There are laundrette facilities on site but it isn't cheap 5 Euro for a wash and 5 Euros for the dryer (if needed) and then 1 euro 80 for washing tablet. If we were going again we would take a couple of our own washing tablets as we use non bio.
The staff all spoke good English as did most people round the area. There is a cashpoint on site that charges 3 Euros 95 for withdrawals.
The complex is also ideally placed for Pestana Alto golf course, about a 5 minute walk to the clubhouse.
Would I go again, yes I definately would.

We stayed 7 June - 14 June (I’m actually writing this review on our transfer).
Our holiday was our first with our 17 month old, after a very successful airport and flight experience it was a relief to check into this great hotel. We arrived around 11ish and checkin isn’t until 4pm but our rooms were ready and that’s definitely the news you want to hear after being up since 3:30am.
Rooms are big and spacious, we had a travel cot and high chair ready for us. There is only a shower (we didn’t check this) so that was a new experience for us showering our toddler who loves a bath but we managed.
We brought our Hauck Runner buggy with us, and it was great for the walks. If you like walking there’s lots of routes to go, the paths to Portimao are great but there’s a small stretch on the one to Alvor which isn’t the best, thankfully our buggy is made for that type of terrain. Alvor was the best for us and we just loved the vibe down there, so that’s where we went pretty much all of the time. (If you like walking good footwear is a must!)
The supermarket is about 0.6 miles away and has everything you’d need for a self catering apartment, there’s a shop on site but is a little more expensive. We had breakfast at the resort, it was great for what we needed and the little one loved the fresh fruit and chocolate shells.
We ate at Alvor almost every night, got an Uber down around 6/7 euro (we got an XL, as 4 adults, 1 toddler and a large buggy), then we’d do the walk back which was about 30 minutes/1.5 miles.
The staff at the resort are great and will go out of their way to help, the beauty of this resort is that it’s so peaceful. The pool you have to access with your room key so no worries of many people who shouldn’t be there accessing, there was always plenty of sunbeds and it doesn’t open until 9:30 so no worry of people rushing to reserve their own. Lots of families of children with all ages and even couples, it just had a great vibe for us.
My only feedback for the resort would be the cleaning, whilst the maids replaced towels from time to time the general state of the floors weren’t great. It’s not a game changer for us but if you had a little one crawling they’d have dirty knees for sure. It’s also not stopped me giving a 5* review.
Would I return to Vitors Plaza…..yes for sure! It was ideal for us and I’m so sad that we’re leaving. If you like something peaceful with option to visit the hustle bustle then this hotel is definitely for you.

It was our first trip to Alvor so we were not sure what to expect. The accommodation was extremely clean, bright and we really enjoyed having the massive kitchen/diner and balcony areas. We were at the end of the corridor so we had 2 private outside areas. We had chosen the B and B deal and breakfast was good though it was the same everyday. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. In the evenings, we alternated between eating in Alvor or cooking. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and even had a coffee machine which made my partner happy! There was a complementary bus but only a couple a day to Portimao and Praia da Rocha. We were surprised that there was not a bus to Alvor. The walk from the hotel to Alvor takes about 30 minutes and various fabulous beaches are 30-40 minutes walk away. We only took taxis a few times and they were around 5 Euros to get from Alvor back to the hotel. To get further afield, there are public buses that run from Alvor to Lagos and are about 9 Euros for 2 people. We had a trip to Silves one day. The hotel booked us a private taxi and it cost 50 Euro for 2 people return. The lady who drove us was originally from Dundee and as she’d lived in Portugal for 36 years was a font of local knowledge. There were lots of loungers by the pool though as it was May the water was a bit cool, as was the sea. To access the pool, you need to use your room key. We did need to visit reception a number of times as the keys were easily demagnetised. This was only a small thing. We had a lovely, relaxing time at Vitor’s and hope to be back soon,

On day 8 of a 14 day holiday - still yet to have the beds and towels changed despite requesting this. Amenities are all great love the pool area one of my favourites of all the years we have been visiting alvor. Pool bar food is lovely too but keep getting charged different prices for the same order so check your bill. Local mini mart is great staff in there very friendly. Maybe I'm a bit picky but the cleanliness of the apartment just isn't there lots of things letting it down - side balcony wasn't clean when we got here and still isn't and now we have someone above dropping cigarettes and ash and dirty ear buds onto the balconies where we have clothes and towels drying. Been visiting alvor for over 10 years and not sure we would come back here.

Vitor’s for us is our go to when staying in Alvor. Quite simply there is very little not to like. Excellent rooms, spotlessly clean, lovely relaxed bar, full restaurant and a well stocked mini-market. Without going into all the amenities, you can be safe in the knowledge you will have everything you need here ( single traveller, couple or family ) and plenty more to help you enjoy the stay.
The main reason we return is because of the staff, very nice individuals and a credit to their employer. Cannot do enough for you and all extremely good at their chosen profession in hospitality.
The one point we would highlight as ‘needs to improve’ most years was about the food. We never felt the food matched the price of the Vitor’s experience in general. We’re delighted to say this year it seems to have been rectified. We have enjoyed fantastic lunches and a dinner this October. With the competition being as it is in Alvor (i.e the quality of dining) we were happy with the level the restaurant is operating at now. This has become an alternative if we fancy staying close to homebase for the evening.
One thing to be aware of — Vitor’s Plaza is situated outside of Alvor, and the walk in is not convenient. We rent a car each year and have never found it to hamper our enjoyment. Uber Taxis in and out tend to be very cheap and frequent, so access to the surrounding towns and landmarks is a non issue.
All in all, leaving a bias hat on I’d mark this as a 6/5 destination. Reviewing with an objective eye, I would say 4.5/5 — I can only mark with whole stars, so 5 it is.

This hotel is situated at approximately 3 kilometers from the city centre of Portimao, which makes the location ideal for us:
far enough from the noise and the traffic, close enough to be in the center in a 5 minutes taxi drive.
It has a modern look and the reception and hotel restaurant are clean, pleasant and really inviting.
Breakfast is fantastic: you will find everything you need at the buffet.
The appartments are spacious with a nice balcony to enjoy the evening sun.
Is there also something that is less interesting ?
Yes, there sure is: the cleaning staff takes more time smoking cigarettes then cleaning rooms.
We had to ask them for new towels and cleaning our room day after day after day.

This hotel is value for your money. It is a lovely hotel set in grounds that are kept neat and tidy. Our room was very large with a kitchen, dining area and lounge, separate bedroom and bathroom and a large balcony. The maids kept the room very clean We decided to go half board firstly because more than likely we would not be bothered to cook and would eat out every night so it made financial sense for us. The breakfast was the generic you get in all hotels of this rating in Europe but the evening meals where a surprise and where very good. There was always plenty of sunbeds around the pool area . The staff where lovely and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel

The Vitor's hotel was over all pleasant BUT half of the hotel amenities were closed for the off season - it would be best to choose a hotel which supports all the aspects they advertise. We had four nights here with a pre-paid package we left after TWO nights. The bed mattress was HORRIBLE!!! The springs gave no support and was extremely uncomfortable. The two twin beds pushed together ended up being uneven- just a terrible experience. The room had a damp smell and the room had an insane amount of moisture so anything of paper left out became wet. The room was very spacious and had A/C, it was clean but the main aspects of staying in a hotel is the sleep quality, hot water and comfort. (Sleep being the negative factor). So we left and got another hotel for the other two nights adding cost to the trip. The mini golf was very run down and weak at best. They did have a small game room and ping pong. The TV in the room is extremely small, actually comical. Would not return.

Dear Mr. Justin G., First of all we would like to thank you for your comments. Our guests satisfaction is very important for us, so your opinion deserved our best atention. Regarding to the amenities, we would like to inform you that everything is working normally except for the mini market; courtesy bus, and entertainment, as well as reduced cleaning service. The snack bar and bar service works in the restaurant space. All tour operators and travel agencies which we have contracts have all this information. As far as concern to the bed mattress and the smell of the room we do not receive any complaint about it during your stay, if so we could have checked it and found a solution. We sincerely apologize that we did not meet your expectations and we will try to improve all of these aspect. We respect your decision to do not return, however if you change your mind, we would be very pleased of welcoming you again. Thank you. Best regards.

We stayed self catering as don’t like to be tied to a hotel for every meal. The hotel is lovely and clean modern and the staff are amazing. The cost of water and bits from the mini market was reasonable and they have activities which were really good for older children archery and rifle shooting to name a few. Situated just outside Alvor we loved walking into Alvor it takes about 30 min (all roads lead to somewhere) and they provide a bus to the beach and to some other places. We had breakfast there once was ok but to be honest there is better for cheaper if u walk in to Alvor or make ur own as there big supermarket on ur way to Alvor. We will be returning here as it really is a great place

This is a lovely friendly clean hotel. It's our second visit, and will certainly be back again. I've read some of the other reviews with interest, as for us personally, we enjoyed the pool having restricted opening i.e. you don't get people hogging sunbeds at 5am in the morning and going back to bed, and they clean the area thoroughly every morning before it reopens. The rooms were clean (and I certainly wouldn't expect my table/dishes to be cleaned on a self catering holiday). We used Uber a lot this year, and it was really cheap to travel into Alvor, Ferragudo and Monchique for great eating experiences and trips out. The local supermarket is a nice 10-15 minute walk. Both Zoomarine and Slide & Splash pick up from here. The staff were so helpful, they helped my husband source local flowers for my birthday, and even left some champagne in my room on the day!
My only point for improvement is to have either additional staff in the bar mid afternoon, or a separate queue if you are not ordering food i.e. you get stuck there a while when you only want a couple of drinks. But the staff were always polite and friendly over this, and good quality when you do get served.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you so much for your lovely review and for choosing Vitor's Plaza for a second time! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that our efforts to maintain a clean and friendly environment did not go unnoticed. It's great to know that the pool's restricted opening hours contributed positively to your experience, allowing for a more relaxing and comfortable setting. We're also delighted that you found our staff helpful and accommodating, especially in making your birthday special. Your feedback regarding the bar service is greatly appreciated. We are always looking for ways to improve, and your suggestion is very helpful. We look forward to welcoming you back for another fantastic stay in the future. Safe travels and thank you once again for your kind words and constructive feedback! Warm regards, Vitor's Plaza Team

Good afternoon,
Thank you for your interest in Vitor's Plaza.
Yes, each block has an elevator.
We look forward to meeting you in October.
Kind regards

We did walk down to the beach from the hotel quite a few times, but there is a regular bus service just up from the hotel and the hotel itself has a minibus that runs a couple of times a day. The bar has a large range of alcohol and there is a supermarket not far away if it doesn't have what you are looking for. Not sure about the laundry prices, but if you email the hotel I'm sure that they'll tell you. It is a lovely and friendly place to stay.
Dear Jade,
There are a few Restaurants within walking distance of Vitor's Plaza, but you will find more restaurants and bars a bit further, like a car drive of 5/10 minutes.
The Taxis and Ubers are always around our facility and they do have a great value for travel as such. Besides that, we have a complimentary shuttle bus that goes to the centre of Portimão once a day.
We hope we could help. It would be a pleasure to welcome you to Vitor's Plaza.
Kindest regards,
Vitor's Plaza Team.
Hello dear Jayne,
