First the good, we travelled as two families (kids 7 & 4) and stayed in a 2 bedroom townhouse that are a part of the PC Villas & Golf Suites.
The accommodation was well suited to our needs; it’s pretty much self-catering that’s well equipped & as there is a small intermarche just outside, it’s pretty easy (and cost efficient) to look after one’s self.
Also, as it’s in the heart of the resort its conveniently located to everything (tennis, playground, pools, restaurants, beach…).
The Resort itself is ideal for families – it’s well located (40 mins from the airport), large (never feeling crowed during our stay), numerous facilities (anyone mention the 7 outdoor pools?) with a range of food options.
That kind of leads to the less good – the dining & drink options are pricey but alternatives are available (see above); getting a morning barista coffee is unnecessarily difficult (you’ll have to go to the golf club) as the espresso bar is open 5 days a week from 9am; the resorts’ kids club needs to be pre-booked.
And finally the ugly – whilst we were there was a 3 day Indian wedding being held; on the Sat night a party was held in the Lemon square right next to many people’s accommodation; the noise kept the kids up and lasted ‘til gone past 2230. I am not sure this was a necessary inconvenience given the size of the resort I am sure the party could have been held elsewhere. This experience left a bitter taste as it heightened the sense that PC were looking to maximise the bottom line (and not the guest experience)

We enjoyed 5 nights as a family of 3 in the Pine Cliffs Deluxe Suites (formerly known as Golf Suites), using it as a base for our golfing holiday. It is a resort which pretty much has it all, we only scratched the surface as golf took us away from the resort for most of our days.
The suites were refurbished (excluding bathrooms, kitchen and floorings) 10 years ago and whilst they are advertised as ‘deluxe’ and ‘recently refurbished’ they are starting to look a little tired. The extent of the refurbishment was in reality new appliances in the kitchens, new paint throughout and replacement of all furniture. So the now 10 years old living area cream seating could do with being replaced. Hard floors are a bug bear of mine, especially when allocated a middle floor apartment. We were disturbed each morning by our upstairs neighbours and we don’t tend to lie in past 7am anyway! The hard tile floors could definitely do with being softened and noise dampened with large area rugs. Beds were hard, linens were good quality but the pillows were insubstantial. Daily maid service was excellent. The balcony whilst small was ample for a dining table and 2 lounging chairs. A highlight was eating breakfast alfresco each morning whilst watching golfers tee off the 1st.
The suites are in an excellent central location within the resort with views over the golf clubhouse and 1st fee from our balcony. The golf driving range is just a minutes walk away too – but not long enough to be able to use a driver unfortunately! Pleasant, easy 5-10 min walk to hotel, sunset bar and beach. Beautiful approach walk to the stunning Falesia beach. It was spoilt by the smell of sewage sadly on 1 day of our stay but the set up with free loungers and towels for guests was great.
The Golf Clubhouse offered mediocre food at extortionate prices. Great view of the 1st tee though and very friendly staff. The staff throughout the whole resort were quite exceptional it has to be said. It was our first and last on-site meal as found much better value and quality outside of the resort.
Free and ample parking along the front of the Golf Suites buildings of which there are several.
Next to the clubhouse is a good sized heated outdoor pool which was a huge and very pleasant surprise for our late October stay as when we checked in I had asked if any of the outdoor pools were heated and had been told no!
Overall a good stay in a great resort. Perfect for young and old families alike. Lots of mulit-generational groups which was great to see too. Just don’t go if you don’t like kids – it’s known as one of the best family resorts for a reason!

Dear Ski-Gal-75, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay. We are thrilled that you and your family enjoyed five wonderful nights in the Pine Cliffs Suites, using our resort as a base for your golfing holiday. It is fantastic to know that you appreciated the beautiful views and the convenience of our central location. We are glad you enjoyed alfresco breakfasts on your balcony—what a lovely way to start the day! Your feedback on the suites is valuable, and we will certainly consider your suggestions for enhancements as we strive to maintain our high standards. We are also pleased that you found the outdoor pool by the Clubhouse restaurant enjoyable; its design and sun exposure do give it a warmer feel compared to our other pools. We appreciate your comments regarding the sewage smell and dining experiences, and we will share these with our management team for review. Thank you for choosing our resort, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay in the future! Sincerely, Guest Relations Team

Lovely grounds and spacious apartment. Golf academy very impressive with driving range, multiple putting greens and short game area. Golf course is well maintained and while short and only 9 holes it is good for a holiday round. Disappointed to be asked to join up with 2 strangers on the 1st tee. This is something my young son would not have been comfortable with at all. Eventually able to sort so that could play as planned however not the start was hoping for.
Biggest issue with the golf course was it closing very early. Latest tee off was 5pm and seems a big waste to have the course empty at what I’d consider a perfect time to play. Would have liked to have played rounds starting at 6 or 7pm and weather perfectly fine to do so but told not possible. Allowing golf all day would be much better.
Food was fine while not quite having the wow factor might expect from 5*. Price of on site restaurants also very high.
Swimming pools are a good size with clear shallow and deep ends, however they are cold. Probably fine in July / August, however at other times of the year, heating these would be a significant improvement. Sun loungers full a lot of the time and the signs that they couldn’t be reserved completely ignored.
Good holiday, however there are areas that could definitely be improved.

So, we stayed in a 3 bedroom villa opposite the golf clubhouse. The villa was lovely, although the taps on the bathroom sinks barely reach the bowl. The showers are stuck in the corner of the baths, so you have to stand in the curve of the bath to get under them. The kitchen is well furnished.

The service is poor, multiple pools, however, I only witnessed pool drink and food service at one pool, and that was 2 staff serving 100 plus by the pool and on the lawns.

A seabass was £45, served on the bone and at the table and then filleted. The server was having a continuous conversation with the barman whilst butchering the seabass.

On arrival, after a long flight, I asked where we could get a drink. I was sent to the Champagne bar, a 5 minute walk, which was closed. There is a bar in the lobby, but it is closed 3 days of the week and only opens at 9pm when it is open. Why? What a waste of space, right by where people are checking in.

We won't be returning. Looking forward to Ikos opening.

Absolutely shocking for a 5 star. Totally dated. Mats are dirty. Weird encasement around the windows. The kitchen is like something from 1989. Miles from places suitable for those with children. We stayed at residences last year and paid €500 less for the week and that included meals! A complete and utter dump and a joke they’d call this 5 star.

It's not the first time I've been to Pine Cliffs, and will definitely go back sometime in the Future. I went with my wife and daughter (11), and stayed in an apartment overlooking the resorts golf course, and then into the distance the red cliffs, and blue horizon of the Atlantic. A truly stunning vista, especially from the Mirador bar, perched on the top of the cliff. Watch stunning sunsets, and fishing boats go out at dusk to catch tomorrow's dinner! All restaurants are recommended, but the most outstanding was the Yakuza sushi bar, memorable...If you need a well earned break, great food, scenery, hospitality, then look no further than here.

The most amazing resort ! Everything was perfect. It's definitely 5 star. The service, quality of accommodation, restaurant choices and food quality were all outstanding.

30 mins from Faro airport. Ubers widely available. We visited Albufeira and Vilamoura for mornings out but wish we had just stayed in Pine Cliffs as it's so beautiful. The beach is incredible and Mare restaurant for lunch is wonderful. Played golf, nice coirse although pros will want a longer game. Weather perfect too, hot sunshine all day.

This was our second visit to Pine Cliffs because we had such a good time when we visited in 2013. It has really gone down and we felt cheated wasting our 1 week holiday here. We went with our 2 children 1 and 3 yrs old. We were told the clubhouse pool was heated but it was freezing cold. What was worse was the front desk kept saying the water is 23 degrees and that is warm! The hotel arranged for us to go to a neighbouring hotel to use their pool and it was far away and not to pine cliffs standard. Our villa was dirty with silver fish in it. There is construction going on to refurb and add rooms. The entrance to the hotel has been changed to accomodate the building works. the whole place leaves a bad taste. The front desk service is poor but service in the restaurant is good.

We have visited the Algarve several times at a variety of locations and unfortunately this hotel is the worst we have experienced. So bad, that I am reviewing whilst still there.

We are staying in a two bed apartment. The apartment is shabby, grubby looking and extremely dated. The kitchen is so grubby and falling to pieces that we will not be using it at all. The fridge door is falling off and there are bits of cupboards missing.

The bathrooms are very dated, with cracked and broken tiles and grubby light fittings.

The living room looks as through it was last decorated in the 1980s and the chairs, sofa and armchairs are all badly stained and discoloured to the extent that we don't even want to sit on them.

The balcony is decorated with dead pot plants and is half taken up by old fashioned air conditioning units which are so noisy we can't even sit out there.

There are several swimming pools, but unfortunately these are also showing signs of wear and tear and there are insufficient sun loungers for all of the guests. The food in the resort is mediocre at best and shockingly overpriced.

There is no way that this is a five star resort. We are extremely disappointed and will not dram of returning.
