Detailed Reviews
What an Amazing hotel!
From the moment you check in you are warmly welcomed by the receptionist. Every amenity is explained to you and you are offered pastéis de nata and fruit. The rooms are all unique, very clean, have everything you could need and more for your stay! The pools are heated, free towels are provided too.
It’s in a great location close to amazing beaches including Porto Covo. Great restaurants locally n the town centre.
The buffet breakfast was a dream, there is every type of traditional cakes, food from the local region and then loads of choices for everyone from young to adults from hot/cold buffet, cereals, juices, coffees of all types, fruit, cheeses and it just goes on and on!
Congratulations to the establishment for providing an amazing hotel and staff during our stay. Highly recommend!!

What a surprise! This little gem had everything! Clean, neat room. Spacious. Nice deck deck off our room overlooking the pool. Hammocks, childrens play area with lots of equipment and a restaurant on site. Breakfast was unbelievable! Dinner very good as well. Highly recommend this hotel even if we weren’t impressed with the town

A remarkable small hotel located in a quiet residential section of the village of Sines.
Without question, this is a true luxury property. It is the perfect place to escape to. Great attention to detail and attention to each individual guest is provided. Everything is done extraordinarily well here - room furnishings, meals (the breakfast buffet is one of the best I have ever seen), housekeeping, reception, etc. I dropped off some laundry, and it was returned to me 3 hours later - and that is the 'regular' service!
Superb food and gracious service in the restaurant.
A perfect place to go to to decompress, chill out, relax, and be pampered. I highly recommend this hotel. It is the the kind of place that you really don't want to have to leave once you have stayed for a few days.

Unfortunately, after the change of owner, the hotel deteriorated. We have been there twice in the past and have never had a problem with the reservation, credit card guarantee or early check-out. This time, the new owner requested a 50% transfer in advance and ordered us to pay 100% of the value for the previously missed days, during which he probably rented the rooms to someone else.
Additionally, during our 8-day stay, the air conditioning did not work for 3 days. People were going to cook in the rooms...
The new owner also closed the kitchen, so for dinner you have to look for a restaurant in the city (which is inconvinient and difficult on Mondays). Better to use other hotels which are closer to downtown or have own restaurant.
Rooms required a renewal because you see that everything is old and in bed condition.

Disappointed !!! I’ve been in this hotel many times and it was great (but not since they changed the owners) disappointed about the drop of quality- No restaurant anymore- the breakfast is a 3rd of what it was before and Laundry service is slow and expensive (lost clothes without apologies)
Beside of this, it’s still the same hotel, rooms, pool etc..
I know now why they asked to get paid 50% at the booking and 100% 2 days before checking
I do not recommend and will not go back in this hotel

Room 201 ..Stayed here for two nights September 2023. Undoubtably our worst hotel stay in recent time. I found only two reviews ..Aug 23 and Oct 21.. difficult to understand why there are no reviews for this ‘top rated ‘ hotel for nearly 2 years..please draw your own conclusions.. we could have written the August 2023 review by Shaun Salter as our experience was eerily similar. AC not working (not rectified after alerting reception) . Two sockets literally hanging off the wall in our ‘deluxe’ room. Only two coat hangers provided and one cup and saucer..sadly no tea etc…tea situation rectified on approaching reception..room desperately needs total refurbishment…only one member of staff at breakfast….beware as you approach the entrance..rather a ‘bomb site’ of dislodged small bricks.. grass as tall as an ‘elephants eye’ near pool..( apologies Rodger’s and Hammerstein’…toilet bowl..please see photo…AC was the main issue and the corridors were stiflingly hot…and the room was only slightly cooler as we opened the windows..hope this review helps inform you about what you may encounter…we booked this hotel as it was ‘top rated’ on Trip Advisor!!

The pools were not taken care. The garden was dry grass. The quality was lower than usual. Breakfast quality also went down. We use to stay in this hotel for the last 20 years but at the moment we do not recommend. The main entrance outside (“calçada”) was not maintained.

This hotel property is fantastic, and the staff strive to attend to your every need. I enjoyed everything about my stay here. From the moment you arrive you get a warm and sincere welcome, truly! No matter how many times you come and go throughout the day, still a comforting salutation awaits you.
The property is immaculate and the accomodations are excellent. For travelers like myself who are used to North American style rooms, they have King beds and modest sized rooms, very comfortable. They are too modest for turn-down service, but what they have is better. After checking-in, the desk clerk summons the elevator and selects the floor, after the doors close when you arrive at your room the SAME PERSON is standing next to the room with the door open, wishing you pleasant stay. (No one knows how they do it, but it is a nice touch and amazing!
Somehow the room has been prepared especially for you with a welcome gift of a small bottle of port wine and special custer pastries, that are unique to that city and region, and they are delicious, almost addicting... The restaurant is as good as you will find in any hotel, and the food is great. The tables and place setting perfect, it appears that they measure the placement of the flatware and glasses. The service is great and almost charming in style, both male and female servers are excellent without being flirtatious, just great. As a matter of fact the entire staff is remarkable, at how professional they are without being aloof, just the perfect balance.
If there was a detractor, it might be that the hotel is located on the edge of what appears to be a dodgey neighborhood, but this is never an issue for me. My company will visit here many times throughout the year and the Dom Vasco is the only place for us to stay. Make reservations because it is always at capacity!
Special Thanks to Maria

Where do I start?
In summary this is a vastly overpriced and overrated hotel, most definitely not a 4 star establishment but a 2 star at best and more a guest house than a hotel...
Firstly, On arrival we were dismayed to find one of the electrical sockets - which had two items plugged into it already - literally hanging out of the wall with the live wire exposed. This was obviously extraordinarily dangerous and I cannot believe that none of the hotel staff noticed this.. As we arrived at midnight we didn't report it to the reception until the next morning so we had to place a chair in front of it until it was fixed so our five year old couldn't go anywhere near it.
We also noticed at this point that the air conditioning was not working...
The next morning we reported the electrical socket and air conditioning to the reception and I to be fair they had fixed the socket upon our return the next evening.
The air conditioning was still not working though, so I sent an email to reception (and never did receive a reply). it was so hot in the room that we had to (try to) sleep with the balcony door open.
The next day we reported the air conditioning again at reception and was told by them that "they weren't aware of a problem with it and maybe we were setting the thermostat incorrectly" (we weren't, it's not rocket science). Again, when we returned that evening it still wasn't working.
So I sent another email (again with no reply) and five minutes later there was the distinct sound of an air conditioning unit being turned on... And hey presto, the air conditioning worked perfectly.
So obviously they hadn't even got the unit turned on, which they must have been aware of in order to rectify it so quickly after my second email (and 3rd complaint about it).
We were informed on our arrival that there was currently NO RESTAURANT in the hotel and that only breakfast was available, apparently because the hotel is "currently changing owners"...
Well, "breakfast" was a total disaster with cold eggs, plastic bacon, not much of anything else and only 1 employee to clear and reset the tables so every morning there was a wait for a table to eat cold eggs and whatever else they happened to have (or mostly not have) on the day.
On our last day there the eggs were actually green (!?!) which I've never ever seen before in 50 years of eating eggs for breakfast every day.
The bathroom in our room was extremely tired and in desperate need of a refit, mostly held together by globs of silicone.
This was not a cheap stay (220 euros per night for a room) and I have to say that out of the hundred plus hotels that we've stayed in, this would rank in the bottom 10 of all time.
Needless to say, we won't be returning and would advise anyone else against it.

Cannot rate it with 5/5 cause I had to stay only for a while, however my less than a day stay there was absolutely fine. Nice room, well decorated and maintained, extremely clean and tidy ! Food was very nice and the staff was so helpful and friendly. Warm Portuguese people and hospitality at its best ! I wish I can visit it again in the near future and have a longer stay there!
