Hi Tilly, wow! Your glowing review just brightened our day. Thank you! It's awesome to hear that our staff made such a great impression on you; they're always ready to lend a hand or share a smile. Your shoutout to our wheelchair accessible rooms is much appreciated – we're all about inclusivity and comfort. Plus, being near those shops is quite the perk for a bit of retail therapy, right? It's like finding a treasure in the city. We're totally with you on the need for a good night's sleep, so we're thrilled our beds hit the mark. We'd love to welcome you back for another great stay! Cheers, Marjolein, General Manager at The Social Hub Rotterdam

I liked the concept of this hotel linked to the city of Rotterdam, the hub port of EU.
This hotel is Functionally, well equipped for mid- to long-term stays, including a kitchen and shered laundry room, cutleries can rent for front of the hotel. Transportation is convenient, including tram and metro. In short, it is an ideal base for a stay.
The hotel gave us to prepare the room with bathtub.
The concept of this hotel is clearly diffrent from any other ordinary hotels.
I feel the comtemporary social entrepreneurship in this hotel. This atmosphere is felt on my skin during staying in Netherlands, in various situations.
The hotel will bring the great power to those who are looking for some new inspiration.
I and my wife stayed at 7 days here and tried to search for where we should visit in.
We can visit the following symbolic places of Rotterdam or Netherlands, where is easy to access from the hotel.
maasvlakte(through a tour of Futureland)
Kinderdijk
where the Erasmus exhibit is located(St.Lawrence Church, Central Library, etc.)
(About hotel location, nearest transport ticket seller)
The hotel is located in front of the nearest tram stop.
You can ride this tram to Rotterdam centraal, and where you can go to Amsterdam, Belgium, and any other Netherlands city by train.
You can also use metro, the most useful station from the hotel is Oostplein.
Unmanned transport ticket vending machine is available here. If you can need to buy the ticket for tram, metro, and city bus, you can do that here.
You can also buy Tourist Day Ticket here. Let's make sure the range of valid it.
(It is not bad to walk)
From the hotel, if you leave luggage in your room, you can walk to Markthalle, the Central Library, and the St.Lawrence Church around the station Braak.
A walk south from the hotel toward the Nieuwe Maas river is good sight. You can walk around to the Erasmus Bridge.
(Security around the hotel, for the traveller)
The caution is residential area which is located by north of the hotel over a street. I think it is not safe for travelers, especially after dusk. Actually I was encounter someone who moved look like snatching against me, there.
On the other hand, I did not encounter danger any other place in Rotterdam. Tottaly Rotterdam is
not danger, I feel.
Other topic, I was suddenly begged by someone at Blaak.
Also, there were people making noise in early morning at Rotterdam Centraal. You need to think those is within expectations.

It is an understatement to define The Social Hub as a hotel: there are meeting rooms, coworking spaces, an area to relax while playing billiards, and a gym where a yoga course open to all takes place on Friday afternoons. It reminded me of the hostels of my youth, but with more amenities; what I appreciated most was the bike rental (€12 per day), the best way to explore Rotterdam, and any other Dutch city. Honorable mention for the breakfast buffet, with a generous choice of sweet and savory options. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the receptionist who advised us to leave the car in the underground car park of a shopping center a few hundred meters from the hotel: you pay 15 euros per day, a more than acceptable figure compared to the rates along the street.
There is plenty of room for improvement in the lighting of the room, which only has blackout curtains: if you leave them open you give up privacy, if they close you give up natural light, which is essential given that the bathroom lacks a light in the mirror.

the cleaning staff don't clean the rooms when they should (my room was not cleaned for more then a week). the rooms have kitchens but the kitchen utensils are a pain to get (on the reception they keep saying there are no available utensils). we had meal vouchers but the staff don't know what we are entitled to with them. the kitchen in the restaurant closes before the supposed closing time. Very bad experience. The only positive point is the gym is better than the average hotel and they have a laundry.

I booked The Student Hotel for my whole year studying at Erasmus University. I saw it as as investment to guarantee that I had a great space to stay at during my master's. This is not what I encountered at TSH.
At check-in, my room was not clean at all. I had to put in several requests and make many complains for it to be cleaned and, even then, no attention to detail was payed and I had to clean many details myself.
Regarding the room itself, they gave me a room with a hole in the wall at the kitchenette and shattered drawers. Eventually, the hole was fixed, but the drawers won't be repaired. This is highly inconvenient given the premium price I am paying.
Additionally, the mattress they gave me was absolutely awful. I had to request that it was changed and, even then, it was not good. I had to flip it myself in order to make it acceptable. The pillows were not good either, but I asked reception to give me a new one and they did - this one is not outstanding either, but I can manage.
On the other hand, as most of you, I booked TSH due to its additional perks such as laundry, bikes, and etc. Regarding laundry, everything is perfect. Regarding the bike, I would say there are about 50 bikes for almost 500 students. Most times students can't find any bikes in the garage and have been fighting with management in order to get new bikes. This is specially frustrating because there are a lot of bikes in the garage, just sitting there. Most people are now purchasing/renting their own bikes, because they simply can't rely on the bikes that are made available for obvious reasons. Moreover, I would like to point out how difficult it is booking free night for parents: the reservations departments says that all rooms allocated to free student nights are sold out, however there are still rooms to be booked on Booking.com. They clearly just want to make money and don't care about honouring what has been promised.
Regarding the staff, they are very nice and try to do their best, but they have very limited resources. The room itself is not great, but is manageable. The extra promised benefits are not reliable and often don't work. On the plus side, the location is fantastic. Don't get me wrong: this is not a bad option for your stay in Rotterdam. However, if you have high expectations, as I did, and you are looking for the best place ever to stay, this is not it. I assumed this would be the best housing option in Rotterdam, but I don't think it is worth how expensive it is.

Hallo! On behalf on TSH, we would like to apologize on the issues you’ve faced while staying here with us. Regarding the bikes, we currently have bikes available, however at peak times it seems that we just run short by a couple. We recently released more bikes and even more will follow soon, which is great news! However, due to the current pandemic the delivery times from our suppliers are longer than expected, which is why we are still awaiting the locks necessary to release said bikes. If there are no bikes available we recommend to come by reception so we can see if we can help find a bike for you. We’re deeply sorry your room was delivered to you in that condition. We try our best to give everyone the best experience here at TSH and even though your first impression was not the best, we would like another opportunity to amaze you. If you need anything else, please know you are always welcome to come by the reception to speak with us! The Student Hotel Rotterdam

I had a very bad experience at this hotel. I would not recommend it to anyone.
I ran out of toilet paper in my room and they told me I had to wait until the next day when room service was done or I should buy it at the supermarket. This is absurd. !!!! I paid a lot in this hotel to not even have toilet paper!
In addition, room service is only done every 2 days and toiletries (soap, shampoo and conditioner) are only replaced every 4 days.
Hotel looks like a hostel, several people coming and going all the time.

The room was spacious with a kitchenette where I made my own breakfast and tea and coffee. I loved listening to Radio 5 on the TV set, there was good music. The Social Hub arranged barbecue once. and I got hamburger, corn on the cob and chicken pieces and fruit punch for the price of 7,5 Euro. The happy hour on Thursdays is good with a cocktail for the price of 6 Euro. The coffee latte was also good. The reception people were very helpful to show me on the map when I was going sightseeing.

I took the studio which is more akin to an appart hotel. The plus: it's clean, spacious, very quiet and the bed is fantastic. The small cons: I would appreciate dish liquid, tea towel and sponges for the kitchen. There is not switch for the ceiling light close to the bed. If you want to have visitor, you need to pick them up as the entrance is an automated gate with cards.
The common rooms, free to use, have great design and practicality. Recommended!

The bed is irritating for me and my partner. The shower of the bathroom wasn't able to move to center of the person. So, it was aiming to the door. The toilet is very hard to flush and needs to be made softer. Wash tables needs to be cleaned better and more fixed. I was even able to turn them. For the kitchen I needed to get the cutlery, pans etc from the reception first, instead they were in place already. For an executive room, I really expect a hairdryer in the bathroom and tv with working tv channels. The price quality is too expensive for this.
