This is the first premium hotel i have ever stayed where there is. - no restaurant/food option available besides breakfast. Stayed ONE week where it was apparently impossible to find staff to man the restaurant. Got a story that it was because first the menu in process of being changed then finally got to the point that it was because of staff shortage.. hmm no problem to staff the restaurant the night of the private party. Super disappointing. - second where you can not changed the temperature in you room. It was apparently disabled and you had to go to the reception. Serious.. unbelievable disrespect for your guest. Feel sorry for the great reception staff that has to deal with this on a daily basis Shame on the greedy owner, you clear does not value the guests. This property does NOT deserve to have the Marriott tribute status. This is at best a low level motel. Disappointing …

Wonderful hotel in a great location. Easy access off tram or train. Nicky, front desk, was great - helped us with directions, dinner suggestions, and overall tips to enjoy our vacation. Breakfast was great - typical buffet style with nice staff - including Honey! Overall - recommend this hotel. We are platinum elite Marriott so we travel a lot and we would stay here again if in the city. Now we are off to a bike and barge tour!

Don’t usually say this but I was truly blown away with the decor and design of this hotel! We had ‘loft’ room in the older part of the building with high ceilings which was beautifully decorated throughout, with three huge windows which we were able to open - something I really appreciate in hotels. Large desk and seating area was great for working and for the night we chose to order in, staff even gave us plates and silverware for our order which was a nice touch. Also really appreciated the separate shower and toilet rooms as well as the underfloor heating, and the bed was incredibly comfortable! Didn’t use the restaurant but the bar area was beautifully decorated and had a good atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and also allowed us to leave luggage upon check out. Super handy for the tram too and a lidl underneath, would definitely stay again.…

Great design, warm staff, the hotel had a cosy and boutique design, beautiful room, great value too. Definitely upgrade to a larger room, well worth it. Modern and chic and nicely located for transport. Rotterdam isn’t that pretty a city, but views from the room were nice and the city has some nice things to do and restaurants, too.

Our family stayed here for 7 nights at the end of Nov. The hotel was located at a wonderful location in Rotterdam. Less than 10 minute walk to Blaak and Markethall which was important to us. All our day trips started from Blaak and all of our dinners were at the Markethall. Having easy access to those 2 places along with 3 closed by grocery stores (Albert Heijn, Dirk, and Aldi), made our trip with a baby easier. Our check in process was simple and efficient. I informed them of our early arrival (14:00) our room was ready when we arrived, along with a great crib. We had breakfast downstairs every single day, and every staff we encountered was helpful and friendly. We wanted some separation in the room from the baby, since she sleeps at 8pm while we sleep at 11pm. the corner room we were given on the 6th floor did a good job at that. Although the lighting in the room was a bit lacking, but it didn't feel dingy and uncomfortable. Floor heating was a nice touch, which made the crawling baby very happy in the winter. Our room was cleaned every day in the afternoon after the baby's first nap and before the baby's second nap which was very much appreciated. the staffs accommodated all of our requests quickly and efficiently. They have also acknowledged my Platinum status and asked for my preference in gifts. WiFi worked perfectly through out our stay. Using the hotel as a base, we were able to quickly get to cities like Den Haag, Gouda, Delft, Schiedam, Dordrecht, and Delfshaven from Blaak. With quick access to Metro and Tram, we were able to also explore what Rotterdam had to offer. Our room had a shower and a bathtub, although the shower has no door which made a mess of the bathroom. The bathroom amenity was a bit lacking in quality, they should seriously consider upping the quality of the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Breakfast was wonderful and plentiful, I much appreciate all the hand squeezed juices. Our stay and points hasn't posted to my account after 2 weeks. Which I am now reporting to Marriott. Hopefully the issue is corrected soon. The stay doesn't even show up on my history for some reason. Overall it was a wonderful stay and we will def. be back and visit.…

I am disappointed with my experience at the Slaak Rotterdam and will not return to this property. I am an experienced traveler and have been a Bonvoy Ambassador Elite for many years. I stay exclusively at Marriott properties with a primary focus on their luxury-level hotels. So I feel I have a strong basis for comparison. The Slaak Rotterdam disappoints, especially in comparison to similar luxury properties. At the Slaak, service appears to be an afterthought. The front desk staff unhelpful. My check-in experience was poor. While checking-in, I was asked to upgrade (pay) for breakfast. The attendant didn’t offer breakfast as my Elite amenity (which is available). When I brought this to her attention, she appeared surprised to see my status, apparently having not checked. I was also highly disappointed to have been turned away from the restaurant for dinner. Apparently a reservation is needed, even for hotel guests. While checking-in, I would have expected the attendant to ask if a dinner reservation would be desired. Instead, we were told there was not room to accommodate us for dinner; not even a sorry or apology. Lastly, our room (we booked two) wasn’t available until 18:30. Check-in is 15:00. It appears the hotel does not have their own room attendants and use a contract service. They didn’t start to clean our room until 18:00, even though the room was vacated at 16:00. Poor planning which negatively impacted our experience. Following on the theme of poor service, the front desk attendant made no attempt to accommodate the delay. A complimentary coffee or beverage would have gone a long way… With many choices of accommodation in Rotterdam, I would highly (!) recommend you do not stay at the Slaak; unless you prefer high room rates and poor service.…

What a gem of a hotel! So cute and stylish from first walking in. The staff was very kind. We had our two kids with us and they made up the pullout sofabed ahead of time for us. They also left us some nice treats - gummy candies shaped in famous buildings in Rotterdam, among other tasty snacks. The food was great. We ate dinner at the hotel and breakfast. Breakfast was really delicious with many options. Our room had a nice, large semi-private patio. I love having some outdoor space so this was a nice touch. Clear view of neighbors on each side with just a little fence in between but no big deal to us. Only odd thing is parking - it’s under the grocery store and was kind of hard to navigate to the hotel from there!

I genuinely enjoyed the homage that Slaak pays to its origins as a newspaper office, with the industrial architecture, scattered elements in menus (even the restaurant napkins!) to its origins as a newspaper office, the conference rooms etc. Very modern hotel too, with care put to ensuring that there were workable tables with power outlets in case you're here on a business trip like I was. The "loft" rooms featured windows that can be opened and a (small) balcony for fresh air. I find that good vs bad hotels really shine when they need to deal with non-standard requests, and that was certainly the case for me as I caught Covid-19 during the trip and chose to isolate in the hotel for an extended period. The hotel staff were very understanding and I was able to minimise contact/request via the Marriott Bonvoy app for any requests. Location is in walking distance of quite a few nice Rotterdam bars and restaurants.…

Fantastic experience, one of our best experience in the Netherland. Location: Great, close to the city center, you can easily walk there in 15 min. Next to the hotel is a supermarket Lidl.
