#10 of 14 hotels in Haarlem
The monumental Ambassador City Centre Hotel is located in the historic heart of the city of Haarlem facing the St. Bavo Church. For city trippers this friendly hotel is an excellent choice. From the hotel, all the fun and interesting attractions can be easily reached. The train station is only a five-minute walk from the hotel. All rooms in the Ambassador City Centre Hotel*** are non-smoking. The stylish rooms are all marked by their unique interiors. A number of rooms also have a gorgeous view of the St. Bavo Church. The other rooms are at the rear of the hotel where you can rest peacefully in the heart of the city. Because of our unique location we are not allowed to offer our own parking facilities or discounts. In the hotel's surroundings there are public parking facilities available at an additional charge. We recommend parking in parking garage 'Appelaar' about 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Ambassador City Centre Hotel guarantees you an atmospheric stay in an ambiance in which you will feel at home immediately. The hotel offers all facilities you need for a weekend away or a long stay, for a leisure or a business trip. You can sweeten your stay by visiting our traditional Italian restaurant or our Grand Café 'De Gouverneur.' I wish you an enjoyable stay. Yours sincerely, Paul van Riek, General Manager.

This would've actually been our third stay at the Hotel. We weren't as satisfied the second time around but the location made us want to come back once again. As we were about to get on our journey to Haarlem I received an email that our booking has been "successfully canceled". I called the hotel and was told that my credit card wasn't working about a month ago and therefore we must have been cancelled. First of all, the email says we were canceled this morning (not a month ago) and secondly we booked with being purchased upon arrival. Even though my credit card has never not worked before, I wasn't even charged by the hotel, so it was a blunt lie. About the hotel in general: The first time our room was very nice which is why we decided to come back. The second time we arrived with my just born and grandma and we stuck on the last floor which is only reachable by two stairways after an elevator ride. It took us almost 20 minutes to even find the room because we had to pass several emergency exits to get there. The reception told us that we received an update! Another blunt lie :) NEVER AGAIN.

Our first post-Corona tourist trip.  We booked this hotel through booking.com and got a Superior room.  Initially we got one without the outdoor seating area that we wanted but as the hotel was quiet that was soon rectified.  Lesson learnt - if you have requirements let them know in advance. They have Superior rooms with baths, with showers, single and double beds and with outdoor seating in the communal courtyard. The hotel is wonderfully situated behind the church on Grote Markt. A busy area but with doors and windows shut there was no disturbance, not even from the church bells ringing every 7.5 minutes! The hotel is old and in the main building it's s bit of a maze. But for me that's a positive.  If you want to avoid mazes then go to a new "container" hotel. We didn't have the €17.50 breakfast deciding instead to walk ten minutes to Albert Heijn for delicious ham/cheese croissants.  We brought our own coffee stuff and used the kettle in the room. We enjoyed our one night stay and would definitely return. Haarlem is a delight and this hotel is a good base to enjoy it from.

I am truly so disappointed with my family’s experience here. Upon arrival, the staff led us astray with room location, sending us on a wild goose chase just to find our room (apparently the 100 rooms can be on the 3rd floor with no elevator access). Not only that, but the staff was very rude to my family during our stay. We then walked in our room after hoisting our luggage up the steep flights of stairs to smell the most horrid sewage scent I have ever smelled and were forced to leave our window open, despite the frigid temperatures outside because it was so potent. A couple of the beds did not even have pillow covers or cases. The carpet was pretty gross as well. Although the location is prime, the whole place was rather dingy and the only thing they have going for them is the shower water pressure. The sad part is the potential is there, but at this rate, this hotel will never reach it. I would strongly suggest staying away from Ambassador City Centre Hotel.

The location of this hotel can not be beaten in Haarlem. Just off the Grote Markt (market square), walking distance to airport link (Line 300) bus stop and railway station. Packed with grandfather clocks and other antiques for added character. Our room was large and overlooked the road (mostly bikes and pedestrians, the occassional delivery van). The view of St Bavokirk, the bikes going past and diners in outdoor cafes was amazing. A little nightlife noise was a small proce to pay for this location. Staff are fluent in English. Who isn't in the Netherlands?

I had specifically ticked of the box "pay on arrival" when I looked for a hotel in Haarlem. In spite of that, the hotel authorized an amount of one night's stay on my card. In the room that we got, there were separate beds. On of the beds had wheels. I was there with my wife, who lives in a different continent than I do. Who puts wheels on beds? That is just stupid. The bed was filled with ants. After my first night there, my wife found an ant in my hair. We had to ask for clean sheets and towels. When we informed the hotel about the ants, we were told that they would deal with the situation the same day. They did not. During one night, when I was going to work (using Wi-Fi), the power went out in our room. We were promised that they would make sure that the power would soon be back. The power was not back until the next morning. Because of that, I lost income. In this room, the windows were misting. After having complained, we got a new room. The new room had separate beds, but none of the beds had wheels. There were no ants in the beds. But there were lots of ants in the bathroom. Because of this, I have asked the hotel for a partial refund, but their response to this is silence. Avoid this hotel!
