We stayed here for a week, and it was absolutely the most perfect location. It was a maximum 20 minute walk to anywhere in the city, whether the museum district, the Anne Frank house, or Central Station. Very safe and tons of restaurants and shopping nearby, including the Nine Streets district. But maybe the best part was the interior decoration of the hotel, which was absolutely beautiful. They really gave thought to every detail, from the lobby to the rooms. My only minor criticisms are that: the room we stayed in, which was a double room with a Canal view, did not have adequate space to store your clothing; and the breakfast seemed a little expensive, and so we wound up eating breakfast away from the hotel each morning. I will definitely stay here again on my return trip to Amsterdam.

Stayed at the Hotel Estheréa for a friend’s 50th birthday weekend. This hotel is amazing, the first thing you notice as you step inside, the scent and the huge chandelier. Staff are always pleasant and a special thank you to “Joanne” who booked us in. The rooms in this hotel are amazing, but we were upgraded by mistake. The hotel bar is really nice, the drinks are expensive but Amsterdam is to be fair. I would definitely recommend this hotel

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The canal room is 100% worth the extra cost and also the room itself was decorated like a 10 star hotel. The resident brown cat was amazing, the snacks were so good, every corner of the hotel was beautiful. Amazing location never once took transportation, just walked everywhere.

Room Tip: Skip the kittenkabinet museum. We’re HUGE cat people but it was a waste of money.

Yep I postponed my flight for a day. The hotel is incredibly beautiful both in the public areas and rooms. 6 star beautiful (it's a 4). The owner obviously loves flowers reflected in the public areas (stunning chandeliers too) and floral room decoration. Each room is different to the other in colour and decoration Best hotel I've stayed in Amsterdam and I've been around 35 times, staying in around.30 hotels. And I've stayed in the 5 star Pulitzer and 717 plus a few dubious 5 stars of which Estherea was light years ahead. Lovely view of of the Singel from my room for two thirds of the price of a no view room less beautiful room in the Pulitzer for example. Bar food was limited but great and interesting write up how it started as a 12 guest house after WW2 and still in the same family I think. . Excellent check in/check out by the lovely reception staff. Only downside was the lack of attention by the very polite but non chatty bar staff. Gave up after waiting 20 minutes for a coffee after checkout and issue with waiting time couple of times before. But my hotel of choice in Amsterdam now. And if you don't believe me read the Daily Telegraph review online, scored a 9/10 same as the Ritz, London for a fraction of the price.

Disappointing experience at Hotel Estheria in Amsterdam. One particular incident that stood out was the unfriendly behavior displayed by the staff in the lobby area. I received one of the greatest humiliations by one of their employees in the reception hall. He addressed me with a very poor treatment, yelling at me because I had the cat, which is hanging around the hotel, in my arms. This employee should have come up to me and politely asked me what I had to say and not that in front of the rest of the guests and my own family he yelled at me saying to let go of the cat and more rude things. An unfortunate situación of shame and humillation. A cat that spends the day among the guests, climbing on the couches and allowing to be petted, behaved rudely. Also, I have to add that both, my husband and me, are veterinarians and we deal with pets every day. I had simply taken the cat in my arms, nothing else. If you don't want that cat be taken, then you came to me and tell me respectfully and not shouting like their employee did, without a simple "please" or "could you", but giving an order me, yelling at me in a very bad way with a lot of witnesses. Additionally, the attitude of the breakfast hostess towards guests was disappointing, only 45 minutes for breakfast. In conclusion, the incidents of unfriendliness and unprofessional behavior exhibited by the staff members at Hotel Estheria greatly impacted our overall impression of the establishment. I hope that management takes note of these issues and implements necessary improvements to ensure that all guests are treated with respect and courtesy during their stay. Breakfast was good but the service was appalling: no morning greeting, only “do you have a reservation?” No smile, no warm welcome, unfriendly at the minimum. You are limited in how much time you can take for breakfast and they literally police you.

Very friendly staff the hotel is absolutely stunning ,The rooms are fully equipped with robes and slippers and they went the extra mile to leave us anniversary chocolates to start our weekend away. The hotel is spotless and offers complimentary hot drinks in the communal area,The hotel is in a great location and very close to lots of bars and restaurants we will defiantly return.

Wow. This beautiful place has it all. We spent three nights here on our way to Africa. Our first time in The Netherlands and with only a short time we needed location to be good. It was perfect! You are walking distance to everything you need. Anne Frank, the Rijksmuseum all the shopping, canals, restaurants in every price range, everything in easy walking distance. The hotel itself is spectacular, I could have sat there all day and treated my eyes to incredible beauty. We were told by the staff that every year the owner takes on a project, changing up decor, updating this, improving that and it shows. This hotel exudes the charm of a well loved building. Breakfast was good, lots of choice. Our room, I believe a “classic” with a canal view was huge, well appointed, super comfy. The staff were cheerful, friendly and always available. Would say so if there was anything that needed improving…..there just wasn’t. If you are looking for a hotel for a few days layover ( or longer) in Amsterdam that puts you in the heart of the city you should check this one out, it won’t disappoint. Started our adventure in fine style!

Disappointing experience at Hotel Estheria in Amsterdam. During my recent stay at the hotel, I encountered some concerning issues that I feel compelled to share. One particular incident that stood out was the unfriendly behavior displayed by the staff in the lobby area. My companions and I were enjoying a game of table games in the library section, which was a bit chilly. In an attempt to make ourselves more comfortable, we decided to close the door. However, we were taken aback when the staff members intervened not once, but twice, to reopen the door without providing any explanation. This left us feeling confused and uncomfortable. Additionally, the attitude of the breakfast hostess towards guests was disappointing. We observed her rudely insisting that guests vacate their tables precisely after 45 minutes, which made for a rushed and unpleasant dining experience. This lack of hospitality and flexibility was truly disheartening and not in line with the welcoming atmosphere one expects from a hotel.

Stayed for 4 nights for our 30th anniversary in Feb. 2024 and…what a disappointment!!! The room we stayed in (deluxe with a jacuzzi/#302) smelled of smoke. Bed linens, carpet, air in the room, towels - everything smelled. The odor was so bad, we both couldn’t rid of headaches and were unable to rest in the room. Despite the fact rooms have “no smoking” signs, guests have clearly been smoking on the premises and the hotel stinks. Breakfast was good but the service was appalling: no morning greeting, only “do you have a reservation?” No smile, no warm welcome, unfriendly at the minimum. You are limited in how much time you can take for breakfast and they literally police you. No one comes to pick up dirty dishes until you self-carry them to the kitchen yourself as you run out of table space. We ate 3x - same treatment every day. There were a few “nice touches” during the stay, but a very expensive and disappointing experience overall. Will not recommend.

We stayed here for two nights after Christmas 2023. The hotel is in a charming building in the old part of Amsterdam, on a canal. The hotel’s decor is fun and cheerful, with a lot of color and lights and plants. We were a family of 4, including two teenagers, and we had two rooms close to each other. Our flight got in at around 8 am and the hotel worked to get us checked-in by around mid-day, which was great. The rooms were big and the beds were comfortable. Our bathroom had a heated floor, which I loved given how cold it was outside! I also liked the lobby area, which had multiple rooms with cushy chairs, a coffee machine (and often pastries and other treats) and a bunch of candy jars. There were two fluffy house cats who come in and out too. I especially appreciated the comfortable lobby when I woke up early due to jet lag, and was able to sit and read my book with a cup of coffee at 5 in the morning. The only downsides were that the carpets in the rooms were soft but worn and stained, the elevator smelled, the rooms had some noise at times from people walking around above, and the breakfast was just okay (not great). I would stay here again though, and our kids loved it.
