We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful grounds with a very nice poo, so relaxing! Staff very friendly, free shuttle to & from San G. There is a back road you can walk, going is a lot harder than coming back. Towels for the pool available at the front desk. The whole place is super clean! Breakfast is a feast, indoor or outdoor seating with a view. We celebrated our anniversary at their 5 star restaurant, which was excellent and not that expensive. Highly recommend making reservations a head of time, well worth it. Our room was nice size with a patio, bathroom was good size. Very clean! Would definitely stay again!

We were lucky enough to stay for 4 nights at the end of August. What a find, our third trip to San Gimignano although we loved the other places we’ve stayed this hotel has gone straight to No.1 It is a little out of town but don’t let that put you off, we’d never walked down the Via Vecchia on previous trips. … wow ! What a photo opportunity of San Gimignano. The hotel provides a shuttle, a quick 5 min drive up to the town, as most have mentioned in other reviews it is easier to walk back.. the via Vecchia is a great Road / path to walk with photo opportunities along the way, need a torch in the evenings but very little traffic and feels safe. The Hotel, I echo the reviews that it is immaculate, the maids clean everyday, rooms and all parts of the hotel until early afternoon. Also groundsman and pool man. All the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, this family owned hotel has got the right balance of a medium size hotel whilst maintaining a welcoming, personal service. Restaurant- we’re lucky to visit Italy at least once a year, in 15 years this is the best breakfast in Italy, buffet is plentiful, the best coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. I’m gluten free and didn’t miss out, they make their own gluten free bread rolls which were the best I’ve tasted. We ate in the restaurant one night, delicious home cooked Tuscan cuisine, again my gluten free needs were accommodated without question. The grounds, a little mini oasis amongst the olive and cypress trees, two lovely pool areas. We had room 55 on the countryside side of the hotel and it was stunning come rain or shine. Finally we arranged through the hotel for my husband to have a guided cycle ride through Chianti with ex professional cyclist, Daniele Righi. If you’re a keen cyclist book him, my husband loved it, best experience. When we’re next in San Gimignano we will be booking Hotel Sovestro.

We stayed at Hotel Sovestro for 4 nights in a double room with Patio and we hope to return one day in soon. The Hotel is absolutely beautiful. This was our first time in Tuscany and Hotel Sovestro provided us with the perfect Tuscan Experience. Even driving along the entrance to the hotel was magnificent enough. The hotel grounds were beautiful and pool was stunning. We went in the middle of July and we felt like we had the hotel to ourselves. Our room had fantastic air conditioning and was spotlessly clean. The hotel also provided us with a wonderful breakfast each morning and we loved the fresh orange juice machine. I would like to say a massive thank you to Laura for helping with any questions I had pre stay and for being so lovely during our stay. We look forward to our next visit.

Having waited since before lockdown to experience Tuscany, we were not disappointed with our chosen hotel. Hotel Sovestro is a hidden gem and one we can't wait to return to. We had a magical 10 days. Even before we arrived we knew we had made a good choice as response to emails was prompt and made us feel really looked after. On arrival and throughout our holiday, every member of staff was extremely friendly and eager to please; nothing was too much of a problem and we were always greeted with a warm 'Buongiorno!' What we loved: ...the hotel's calm and relaxing atmosphere. There is a gentle hum of busyness throughout the day with quiet chatter (in lots of different languages) and the chinking of glasses - but nothing to disturb our peace. ...the hotel's facilities, they are spot-on. The two pools have different features that give you the impression that you are in two different hotels. The poolside bar/snacks service was perfect and always delivered with a smile. The secure car park is large so we never struggled to park the car. The free shuttle bus was great - with 5 runs a day, (really helpful when faced with a hill in the heat!) ... Ristorante da Pode. We ate in the restaurant twice and were so impressed with our meals - all home-cooked Tuscan food that was perfectly presented and - again - served with a smile. We particularly loved the 'sheep's cheese pudding' and the tomato bruschetta. I think we could easily eaten there every night if we hadn't wanted to also eat out in neighbouring towns. A wonderful touch came on our 25th Wedding Anniversary, when the hotel staff gave us a treat with our meal. A lovely surprise. ...our room, it was a triple with patio, (me, my husband and our 16 year old). It was plenty big enough as the patio gave us extra space. The beds were so comfy, with crisp white linen and perfect pillows. The air-conditioning was a dream as temperatures reached 34 degrees outside. We hadn't expected a fridge and safe but both were welcome additions! ...the hotel's breakfast! What can we say! All carefully prepared with a wide variety of options from scrambled egg to hams & cheeses, from fruit and muesli to freshly baked pasties and cakes. Not forgetting the freshly squeezed orange juice (oh how we are missing it!) and coffee that hit the spot. It was a highlight of our day to sit on the sunny terrace in the morning, planning our trips whilst filling our tummies. Just perfect. ...the hotel is immaculately kept. All areas of the hotel are spotless without any signs of wear and tear. The Failli family and their team obviously work very hard to maintain high standards for their guests. ... the hotel's location. Wow. San Gimignano is now a firm favourite, with its tall towers and rustic squares. Unforgettable. Climb the Torre Grossa - what a view! There's plenty of parking around the edges of the town but getting there before 10.30am makes this easier - it takes 5 mins to drive. The town is linked to the hotel by a gravel farm track. This goes up passed the Tenuta and takes about 25 mins. We would get the shuttle bus in and walk back down the hill to the hotel. Amazing views & bat-watching! We also visited Volterra, Monteriggioni, Siena, Colle di Val d'Elsa (SentierElsa) and Modena - to visit Ferrari & Pagani. All routes are so easily accessible from the hotel. We also loved driving the Tuscan 'scenic routes' - the Mille Miglia route isn't far. We flew into Pisa airport and picked up the car. It took us 1 hour 20 mins to drive to the hotel - it's an easy, picturesque route with plenty of fuel stations en route. The other bonus was 'Pam Superstore' - about 8 mins in the nearby Poggibonsi. This was great if we wanted picnic food to take on our days out - lots of choice & very reasonable. We really can't think of anything we would change. We all loved every minute of our stay and can't thank the hotel staff enough for their personalised service and dedication to their guests. Given all of the above, this hotel should rate higher than a 3 star - we were very, very happy with all aspects of our holiday at Hotel Sovestro and look forward to visiting again in the near future.

A gem in Tocana. A really good hotel, with a great location, below San Gimignano (25 min walk, the hotel also provides a shuttle service from the hotel). Lovely rooms, super restaurant, wonderful pool area, fantastic staff, both in hotel and restaurant. Beautiful location, possibility of wine tasting, on-site own wine, oil, grappa, etc. (so you might know what to order for dinner in the evening), and did I mention the wonderful location. The restaurant: Da Pode is in the Michelin guide as a :Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking, it serves delicious Tuscan cuisine. We stayed there for 4 nights and when we come back to Tuscany, we will definitely come back. It was a great experience and a really good starting point for day trips in the Tuscan countryside.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Hotel Sovestro. Everything about the hotel is exceptional. The staff are so friendly, the rooms are really clean and ours had a lovely terrace area, the pools and pool areas are fabulous and the food is amazing. We ate in the restaurant once and we had three lovely meals. We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts with a fantastic selection of food on offer and lovely coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. The shuttle bus is a welcome journey up the hill in an evening when it was still hot. San Gimignano is a wonderful place and a wonderful base. We meandered around the town a few times and apart from the meal in the hotel, ate out every night. Each restaurant we ate in was really good and the walk back to the hotel was easy and safe even in the dark. We visited Volterra, Pisa, Lucca and Chianti by hiring a car from Galerie Peugeot which the hotel sorted out for us. We also went to Siena by bus that we caught from the stop opposite the hotel - you will need to buy your tickets beforehand. I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly and the hotel is based in one of the most beautiful areas of the world. The scenery is just stunning everywhere you turn. We will have such happy memories of our holiday and we certainly plan to return in the near future! Thank you to everyone at Hotel Sovestro for an amazing holiday from the Flint family

Great location, spotless clean Parking easy Fabulous pool area We ate in restaurant twice & both times lovely The 25 min walk uphill into town is so worth it (take trainers) stunning views & photo ops. Coming back late is safe, v dark so used light on phone for path, saw hundreds beautiful fireflies The town is amazing, pretty streets, plenty bars, restaurants We did bus trips to Florence & Siena, both worth it (buy your bus ticket in advance)We drove to Volterra, beautiful drive & town. Lovely, polite staff If had to have any negative comment/feedback..make your bar room/area more welcoming, there is no atmosphere. Too quiet, no background music, have to find staff to get drinks We saw many people pop head in then walk off. Its a shame, great size room, would be great communal area (money maker) chance to meet other travellers over a glass of local wine

Seeing the positive online reviews, I thought I would give Hotel Sovestro a try. First, the pros. The front desk staff is very lovely and helpful, the hotel and the room were sparkling clean to the point it almost felt sterile, the bed is great and they provide plenty of pillows (if only all hotels would understand that!). The location is great to explore the area by car, there's available and easy parking (unlike many places in Italy), and San Gimignano is within walking distance (30 minutes, uphill). While the hotel somewhat shows its age, it is well kept and it is a comfortable spot. There seems to be, for the most part, a sense of pride by hotel staff and management to keep this place clean and tidy. Now, the cons. While breakfast was provided and options were plenty, the food quality was to me below average. This caught me by surprise as the breakfast is served under the same roof as Da Pode, a restaurant which gets good reviews for dining. Breakfast isn't their strength, I guess. As mentioned the bedroom was great, except from the weird fact that the shower was as big as a telephone booth, despite the bathroom itself being massive. Strange setup, really. Lastly, I would like to mention the employee who rudely called me out for "saying hi" to the hotel dog, some sort of beautiful german shepherd I believe, which sits in an enclosure pretty much between the parking lot and the hotel lobby. One employee that I assumed to be a restaurant staff rudely told me off "Don't talk to the dog!" in front of under guests, and just kept walking. I love animals, so of course I will greet the dog - as odd as this may sound! If there is something wrong about it, come see me, talk to me calmly and explain the situation, don't be rude in front of other guests. Or maybe keep the puppy elsewhere. While this may sound silly, it reflects badly on an otherwise good establishment and lovely colleagues who are indeed trying hard (and successfully at that) to make guests feel at home. This behaviour has no place in the hospitality business. Alas this sort of negative encounter casts a shadow on an otherwise good stay.

Dear valued Guest thank you very much for having written your valuable review about our hotel and for having chosen to stay with in occasion of your holiday in San Gimignano We are glad to read that you had an overall good experience However, we are sorry to learn that you had a few inconveniences with some aspects of your experience. We apologise if we looked rude vy warning you about the dog. It was certainly not because you talked to him, but because we were afraid that you could have caressed him, as it happened in the past He is a very good dog, but making the guard, if you put your hand too close to him, he may bite you So our warning was due to our worries for your health We hope to welcome you again in San Gimignano best regards the reception laura
