Excellent location near the baptistery. Very cramped quarters, poor cleaning and maintenance. No lift with two floors of steep, narrow stairs. Bad smell, noise and mosquitoes from windows without mosquito nets. Light breakfast with coupon at nearby bar. On site not even a coffee machine.

Great location, staff are ok, room awful -The rooms are tiny.. mine had no windows, very tired looking, pillow was so flat that I might as well have used an empty pillowcase, the bar that they advertise was never open, they advertise that the suitcases will be brought to the room but didn't do it, bed is tiny and short (and I'm only1.74m tall), moldy in some parts of the room.

It was only a short trip of two days in Pisa before moving on to Palermo. My first time in Pisa. So we tried to book a cheap hotel room there because we would be out exploring the area and only needed a place to sleep. Pros: The Hotel IL Giardino is situated behind the historic retaining wall of the Piazza dei Miracoli. It's only 5 minutes on foot from the hotel to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, only half a minute walking before you can see the tower. The bed was fairly comfortable and there was a little fridge in my room. The hotel feels safe and has suitable door locking systems. The staff are friendly and kind. The roof terrace is quiet and cozy. Cons: Unfortunately my room doesn't have windows, only a skylight that couldn't be opened. The only fresh air was exclusively from the air conditioner. No lamp on the bedside table. Warm water in the shower doesn't come until after 5 minutes and with low pressure. The room door lock is very loud when opening and closing, especially at night when the people are asleep, also impossible to close door quietly and a loud beeping when the key card is used. The walls are poorly soundproofed. There is a little bar inside, but it was closed over the whole time we stayed there. My travel partner moved into the room opposite to mine. His room was a little better, a bedside lamp, better partitioning of the room, but also no windows in the walls. Really annoying: I paid the same as my travel partner for a different state of quality and comfort. Summary: The Hotel Il Giardino has allegedly better and more comfortable rooms in the premises. If you are traveling through and stay for a night or two, and you don't want to really reside there, this kind of room may a solution - if you don't have claustrophobia. But: the value for money is bad. It is relatively expensive, because of the famous sights there. + clean house and clean rooms + close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa + secure room door locks + fairly comfortable bed + little fridge in the room + air conditioner in single room + nice rooftop terrace + nice staff - no windows inside - no possibility to open the single skylight - no fresh air from windows possible - cold to tepid water temparature in the shower - claustrophobic ambience - slightly poor soundproofed walls - very loud door lock - low value for money

Terrible! The worst hotel i have ever been! And i travel a lot! Uppon arrival i called the reception to ask for a parking place; the owner was irritated… the rooms were not clean and we couldn’t open a window. The airconditioning was not working properly. And the noise from other guests at the corridor kept me from sleeping a minute! In the morning there was no water at all! No excuse made for that! The only positive thing is that the position is next to the tower, but thats the only thing…..

I always wanted to visit Tuscany. I have seen so many places in Italy starting with my trips from Milan, moving through Cinque Terre, discovering Puglia and even reaching Sicily. But Tuscany always eluded me. So you can imagine the joy last month when I booked a snall trip to Pisa and Lucca in an attempt to see a little bit of Tuscany. Pisa and Lucca might not be the first options when you hear Tuscany but I am glad I discovered these two places and left the more famous towns for the next trip. Now, as the title suggests my experience with the accomodation in Pisa is mixed. It certainly had enough good points but also a small incident that is worth mentioning. The hotel however has two big pluses which you can't ignore when looking for accommodation in Pisa. First advantage. Location. This place is not close to the Piaza dei Miracoli. It is literally glued next to it. From the window of my first room you could see the Baptiserio, which is about 50 meters away. The place can be reached easily from the airport too. Either a cab for 14-15 eur(5 kilometres ride) or catch the express train from the airport which will leave you at the train station in Pisa from where you take a bus directly to the hotel. During daytime the E3 bus line reaxhes the hotel directly also from the airport so you really have a lot of options for reaching the hotel. Not only is the Piaza close but also the rest of the important sights in Pisa are just a walk away. Places like the Arno River, Piaza dei Cavalieri or the Botanical Garden amongst others. Also, the bus to Lucca stops 20 meters away from the hotel and for 3.5 eur/way you can reach Lucca in under 45 minutes. So when it comes to location, this place really comes on top. The second advantage is the staff. I know I have said many times that I met great people and I was happy but this place reminds me of the hotel I was accomodated in Bari and even pushes hospitality a bit more up. It was a real pleasure talking with the staff, I was encouraged to speak more italian(I'm a mediocre speaker) and help was provided each time it was needed. So the staff really weighs in a lot for this establishment. The room. The room was decent in size but sparsely mobilated. The bed was OK and had no trouble falling asleep in for the first two nights. Overall the room was clean and the big difference from other rooms was the window on the ceiling, window from where you could see the Baptiserio. The bathroom was small but clean. You have to be careful with the sink since turning the water volume more could throw water pellets all over you. I wasn't very satisfied with the warming of the room since it only had one noisy air conditioning unit and to be honest it didn't warm up the room very well. Breakfast. Each morning we had breakfast included in the room's price and it was simple, standard italian breakfast alongside a good cup of coffee. It was much more in quantity and variety than we received in Rome but also less than my experience in Moneglia for example. And now for the big elefant in the room. Remember the ceiling window in our room? Well during our third night there a storm started and it kept raining for hours. Around 06:00 o clock in the morning i moved my foot in the bed and felt something a bit...wet. I moved the foot again and got the same feeling so I woke up and to my surprise saw that from the ceiling water was dripping on the bed. While not a downpour it certainly was enough to make me go to the reception and ask for help. In about ten minutes tops we were moved to another room, on the first floor of the hotel and things here were different. From what I studied later I saw that the new room was a step up and that could be seen in how warm the room was and the difference in the bed. Most important thing was that well, you know, it wasn't raining anymore on the bed. The only downside to this room was the shower cabin. Since I'm 190(6'3") and 110 kg(about 240 pounds) I had difficulties entering the little cabin and actually washing. The opening was very small and I could barely push myself through it so I could shower. In the end. As I said from the start I am having mixed feelings about this place. The staff is fantastic, the second room was so much better and the location is simply amazing. However, I wouldn't reccommend a room on the second floor due to the fact that if weather is unpleasant you might wake up soaked in water.

This place is an unhygienic smelly dump in a tacky location the staff are incompetent the owner doesn’t give a crap about any issues. Everything is dirty and mouldy, insects taking over. We lost money for the room cos we didn’t sleep in the dump of a room offered. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

This is the best hotel if you dont need to do a lot of walking. You can see the tower from your room. When you get out just turn left and the tower is there.Besides the hotel is McDonalds where they have a free wifi.Wifi of a hotel is not that strong.Once you get inside the reception you still have to go up the steps so its not good if you have older ladies having a problem getting up since they don't have an elevator.Guy at reception is very friendly. When you turn right from the hotel there is a small store in there like a7-11 and there is a laundry shop if you need to wash your dirty clothes. In front of the hotel is small shops where they are selling stuff like ref magnets, shirts etc.It is pretty close to airport too and taxi's cheap and drivers very friendly. You can ask the receptionist to get you a taxi going to airport for a cheap price. So far the room is clean and just a place where you can spend the night and relax and have some wine in the nearby restaurants.Good Free breakfast and they have a balcony close to breakfast area.In the morning you can hear people from those small shops downstairs but you can close to the window.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There are only two things going for this hotel - its location adjacent to the Square of Miracles and the roof garden with a view of the Baptistry roof. Other than that it is utterly awful. The building is old and tired, the room was absolutely tiny and the temperature in the room never went below 28 degrees! There is a tiny old "air con" unit by the window which is useless and even after the hotel gave us a fan, it was still sweltering and so difficult to sleep. The shower tray was cracked and it overflowed onto the bathroom floor. The plug was full of hair (not ours) eugh! Everything is very dated and tired. For example, the cereal dispenser at breakfast was held together by masking tape which just about summed up the whole hotel. The staff except one were rude and spoke little English. They told me off for complaining about the hot room and laughed when I told them the fan hadn't made a difference and it was still 28 degrees, a slight improvement on 29.5 on the first day! I cannot recommend this hotel at all. I was even looking for other hotels to move to on our first night as we couldn't sleep. Really disappointed. The square it's situated in has a lot of souvenir market stalls and the hotel is situated over a McDonalds. However there is a useful bus stop opposite to get to and from the station.

I was happy with my stay here. The staff was friendly and always willing to help with anything and they speak English. The room was tiny, and out of date, and the bathroom was very tiny, but everything was clean. My room was cleaned every day, and they also changed the bed every day. No ordinary window, only in the ceiling. Aircondition and WiFi worked perfect for all the 3 days I spent here. Breakfast was very simple, but I did not expect much since I only paid 1500 NOK (aprox. 150 €) with all above included.
