We stayed here for two nights as part of road trip and wished we had stayed longer. Our room was excellent, clean and couldn’t fault it. The grounds and pool were perfect as were the staff who went out of their way to please. The restaurant was closed on our first night and we had a short walk to La Checca for an excellent meal. Second night we ate in the hotel and again a lovely meal. Breakfast was fine and we will definitely stay here again. If you visit Lucca town aim to spend over a day there, there is plenty to see.

We booked this through Easyjet and the location showed as within the walls of Lucca which is where we wanted to be. Once booked we realised the mistake and that it says a 15 min car ride from the centre of Lucca, but decided to keep the booking when we had a proper look at hotel, which was am old hunting lodge. On arrival we were so pleased that Easyjet had messed up with the location as we found our "peace of Tuscan heaven". What a stunning hotel in a peaceful, stunning location. Traditional Tuscan building, furnished with beautiful pieces. We travelled with two other couples and all of our rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious. The staff were amazing and were always helpful, pleasant and informative. The restaurant is amazing and worth a try. At the end of a busy day exploring, the bar area and outside terrace was a lovely place to relax and have a drink or two. John Lucca (apologies if name spelled wrong) is a charismatic member of staff who we loved and he looked after us, as did Sarah. The pool area and grounds are stunning and there is a converted chapel that is a suite which I would love to stay in. If I ever get married, I would not hesitate to book this hotel as there is nothing that I can find fault with. Truly perfect in every way and we will definitely be coming back next year. Well done Albergo Villa Marta.... You have done us proud! ❤️👍🏻

We might not have the advantages of a city hotel, but we can count on a relaxing and quiet atmosphere that is impossible to find within the city walls. What is better than spending the day in our amazing cities, and then sitting by the pool in the evening, maybe with a glass of wine? All of our staff is grateful to your compliments, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the near future In the meanwhile we send our Best regards Albergo Villa Marta & Ristorante Botton D’Oro Staff

My wife and I lived in Italy for three years when I worked at the U.S. Embassy in Rome and finally returned this past week after 23 years. After a few days in Rome, and Montepulciano we headed north to Lucca and stayed overnight for three nights in the beautiful Albergo Villa Marta on Via del Ponte Guasperini, 873, which included a scrumptious breakfast. Villa Marta is an eighteenth-century hunting lodge located just five kilometers from the city of Lucca. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the General Manager Francesco Domenici could not have been more accommodating. The Botton D’Oro restaurant inside the hotel is excellent under the tutelage of restaurant manager Jon Lucca, who along with his staff, repeatedly went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The food and wine were superb and the service top-notch. We highly recommend this Villa and on a scale of 1 to 10 give it a 22.

We made a reservation through booking.com and their good reviews. But what a disappointment it was. The villa itself looks very nice from the outside. Entering the garden there are 3/4 dead palm trees. Not a very pleasant sight but the rest of the garden was well kept. Entering the villa on the first floor I was almost shocked to see the worn furniture. It seemed like the left over furniture was put together. I wanted to leave immediately. The lady in the reception was very friendly and helpful. Our room was o.k. and clean. Breakfast was excellent. But the food for dinner in the restaurant was very bad. The wines we tried to order were impossible to get, in fact we ended up with a wine not on the list. Amuse bouche was panzanella. Big chunks of bread and big chunks of tomato put together with water and some herbs. What a bad start! The quality of my husbands beef was not good, my pasta without any taste. But the worst was the “orata” ??? glazed with a sweet sauce. How to ruin a fish or maybe the fish ( not orata) not fresh? Tiramisu was another disappointment. It was a much to sweet mascarpone mix with cream and 2 soft cantucci cookies stuck in the middle.

Dear FranceMartine, We are very sorry that our Villa did not live up to your expectations. It is curious that among all the secular trees that characterize our garden, the first thing that caught your attention were a couple of palm trees, which unfortunately died during the season. The furniture that you mentioned is typical of the Tuscan style and has been appreciated by our guests since it is an original decoration of the villa, as it was a hunting lodge before turning in hotel. As regards your feedback about our restaurant, we could argue forever since it is a matter of taste; what can I say is that at least its peacefully atmosphere and our beautiful staff survived your judgement. It seems that maybe you were looking for a different kind of hotel, but in any case we would be happy to welcome you back, so to have the possibility to change your mind. Best regards Albergo Villa Marta & Ristorante Botton D’Oro Staff

We have stayed at Villa Marta for one night and it was great: the room was very clean with a lovely view over the main garden, the bathroom was spacious and again very clean and the staff was nice. The restaurant was excellent: they have amazing staff who made us feel very welcome and made great wine recommendations. Food was fantastic and very professionally presented. Breakfast was delicious as well. We definitely recommend this property.

A very beautiful hotel in a very well-kept park. This was my second stay at Villa Marta and, as always, it was very relaxing. The proximity to Pisa, Lucca, La Spezia (Cinque Terre), Siena and Florence makes this hotel special. You can visit a different place every day without driving long distances. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious and very clean.

This is simply a splendid villa! The grounds are immerced into the hills, very large, very quiet, while easely reachable. The villa itself is very well kept, all details are though over! The pool is nice. The restaurant is a must! Great food and excellent selection of wines. The staff is helpful. The villa is very close to Lucca and close to Pisa which makes it a perfect place to schedule a visit in the region. Would definitely return when in the area! Thank you to all the staff for a perfect stay!
