The hotel itself is very nice and would be a good choice if you are traveling by car but it is located in a no man’s land without a grocery or convenience store within walking distance. The hotel website advertises that it has a restaurant but it doesn’t. There is one next door that is closed on Sundays and Mondays and reservations are needed for weekend nights (so you are out of luck if you arrive late on a Saturday).

We have just stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and the staff were very helpful. Rooms very clean, sheets good quality, complimentary bikes available for cycling around Lucca and round city walls. Only negative comment - we didn’t enjoy the pre-packed, unappetising croissants and rolls for breakfast. Would stay here again.

This is a great hotel - perfect location for visiting Lucca as just outside the walls and easy for car parking . All the staff were so friendly and helpful . Room was lovely and very efficient windows as very little traffic noise . Free use of push bikes to use in Lucca was brilliant.

Nice hotel just outside the old town wall, so you don't have to deal with the ZTL driving issue. They have bikes to use to drive around the old city. Staff helpful. Breakfast was just OK, but it was because of Covid restrictions. Rooms comfortable

Stayed one night here. Well located and comfortable hotel just outside the town walls. It caters mainly to business but there seemed to be also many tourist travellers. The rooms are modern and functional and have effective aircon. There is car parking. There is no restaurant but the breakfast is good. The reception kindly reserved a table at a nearby restaurant, very helpful as the town centre is extremely busy. Driving in to the old town is very difficult and the Celide being on the ring road is particularly convenient for motorists.

Stayed here for a night. Clean rooms, nice terrace. Has bikes to rent. Across the walled city of Lucca. Would recommend. Breakfast was ok. The staff was nice and friendly. The bed was comfy and I slept good. The room was quiet. The spa is closed due to covid.

Hotel ideally situated a short walk from the City centre. Initially we were a little disappointed with our room, however it was very reasonably priced but would recommend the superior room. Throughout our stay the staff could not do enough and were helpful in every way. helped us find another hotel in the countryside, booked dinner reservations and served our drinks. We loaned bicycles from the hotel which made our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you for a fabulous time in Lucca.

I stayed here recently and it was a very nice and functional hotel. The rooms were 3/4 star but very clean and functional. I had stayed here before and knew what to expect. Previously we went to a very good restaraunt attached to the hotel but we wanted something more casual which we found nearby. Looking at some previous comments I agree car parking is limited but ok, the reception staff were very friendly and breakfast was quite good.

Arriving at this guest house/hotel and welcomed by a miserable receptionist - my partner was instructed to a different Carpark as the one attached to the hotel was full ! We unloaded the car and at reception whilst my other half was busy parking the car I was given keys to room on first floor. There was a porter present but the Receptionist instructed the porter to leave me to my own devices and I was stranded with two suitcases and bags and coats . I asked the porter if he would help me with bags to the room but was was directed by the receptionist to leave me struggle alone - managed to put suitcases in lift alone and asked porter to assist me/ show me to room. He made an excuse that he would walk up stairs to meet me but he didn’t and hid behind the reception desk !! Clearly he was scared of the receptionist who didn’t want him to assist! AWFUL service! ! If this is how they greet their guests all I can say is dont bother ..... there must be better places to stay !!…

Dear Guest, thank you for sharing your opinion. I'm verry sorry to read such a bad review because I think that there was a huge misunderstanding between you and our Reception Staff. I am the Hotel Manager and I always try to step into our Guest's shoes to better understand their point of view, but I don't accept the denigration of a worker, and calling someone "miserable" it's exactly this. All our Staff works hard to make our Guests live a memorable experience and we usually exceed the expectations on this matter (as you can read on the many reviews), but we are all humans and it may happen that the empathy between 2 persons doesn't just happen, and I think this is one of the rare cases. The staff in this hotel are excellent. The breakfast room is great. The decor of our room was dark, a dark tan effect which might appeal to Italians more than to northern Europeans looking for the light and vibrant colours we associate with Italy. Nonetheless, our room was spacious, comfortable and well-maintained. The hotel faces Lucca’s impressive city walls, and is conveniently located for walking into the historic city centre in the evening for a meal and a stroll afterwards. A particular attraction of the Alberto Celide for visitors to Lucca is the provision of bicycles for free to guests. That is a tremendous treat. Cycling around Lucca is fantastic and fun!
