Very friendly enthusiastic owner. He can tell you a lot about things you have to visit in and around the town. Speaks perfectly English. Well organised if you want to arrive late. Save parking place in front of the B&B. Only 2,5km from the center of Lucca. Best breakfast I ever had in Italy!!!

I stayed here for 4 days in early October. The great reviews are probably due to the friendliness of Yulia and Serena. I never met Serena but communicated with her via social media and on the phone. She was always very prompt in replying and very helpful. And I enjoyed chatting with Yulia during breakfast where she made great cappuccino and ham & cheese toast. Breakfast was quite simple - a very basic cornflakes, some kind of muesli, orange juice, some slices of meats and cheese, some cakes and buns, and yogurt. Very limited choice of fresh fruits which had been sitting around for a while - they were wrinkled. Hard boiled eggs on two of the four days I was there. The second day, they were cold - just taken out of the fridge. The room itself was clean but spare - 2 night stands, a small fridge, wardrobe with 4 hangars, small TV high up on the wall (all Italian channels, except 1 French), a very tiny round table and 2 chairs. I placed my hand carry luggage on one of the night stands. The bed was one of those with 2 singles joined to make it queensized. There was a small safe in the wardrobe. It wasn't attached to anything so can be carried away easily. The airconditioner was dual purpose - it can be used for cooling and heating. Bathroom was clean and spacious although the shower stall was a little small. Shower/hand gel and a hair dryer were provided. When I arrived, I spoke with Serena on the phone and she mentioned the folder in the room containing details about the B&B. Unfortunately, some important parts are not accurate. For example, the folder states that breakfast was self service until 10 am, that there was milk, orange juice, yogurt, butter & cheese in the fridge. When I went in to the breakfast room the next morning, I couldn't find the fridge and called Serena. That's when she told me they served breakfast - it wasn't self-service. In fact, there was a sign on the outside of the door to the breakfast room indicating breakfast starting at 8:30 am. This can be seen only if the door was closed. But the door was open when I checked in so I didn't see it. The folder also indicated that 4 bikes were available free of charge. But there was none available when I was there. It would have been great to use a bike to go down town (half hour or so to walk - buses available) - Lucca is a pretty little town. I had problems with the wifi. It was slow and unreliable - my smartphone kept getting disconnected and I couldn't connect with my tablet. I even went to the breakfast room thinking the problem was my room location upstairs but it didn't help. I didn't have these problems at the other 4 B&B's I stayed while in Italy on this 3-week trip. The 8:30 am breakfast start time is quite late. There was no indication that this is flexible. I had to skip breakfast one day because I wanted to leave early on a day trip to Cinque Terre. Although there is a bus stop virtually outside the door, it's best to have a car. There is much to see in the surrounding area within an hour of Lucca which are not accessible by public transport. It helps that you have lots of free, secure, off-street parking just on the opposite side of the road from the B&B at the Coop supermarket parking lot. And this is a large Coop, which is a real plus. Immediately around the B&B, there's nothing much to see. But the road directly in front is a problem. Noise is not too much of an issue if you close the windows, except when vehicles (especially motorcycles) accelerate. Not far to one side is a traffic circle/roundabout. On the other, is a traffic light. During rush hours, there is bumper to bumper traffic on this section of the road. That means exhaust fumes. Closing the windows helps a little but because of the heavy traffic, exhaust fumes will get inside the rooms. I stayed in 5 B&B's while on my 3-week trip to Tuscany and Milan. Interestingly, this is the only B&B where I never met the owner. In three of the other B&B's the owners also did the breakfast themselves.

We were delighted to have found this true gem of a B&B located approximately 2 kilometers from Lucca. Serena communicated with us very quickly from stage of booking to our departure. We requested an early check in as our flight arrived early in Pisa which was accommodating by Serena, giving us directions by bus on arrival in Lucca to accessing our room via safely deposit box at entrance which we greatly appreciated. Serena texted us to check we had arrived & came to welcome us shortly afterwards, giving us information including maps & bus tickets. We heading off on the bikes available to guests free of charge to explore Lucca, pedestrian crossing directly outside & cross road to pedestrians & cycle lane directly to Porta dell Anna which was wonderful. Our room ( Serena) located at the rear & overlooking the lovely terrace from breakfast room was wonderful, bed & pillows so comfy & bathroom larger than I have experienced in other areas of Italy. Breakfast was very good, including juice/ cereals/ pastries/ sweet cakes & super Italian coffee, we were looked after by Julia who was, like Serena so helpful & pleasant, it was a pity we couldn’t have enjoyed breakfast on the beautiful terrace due to weather but we did enjoy a glass or two of wine in the evenings before dinner. Serena recommended a few local restaurants which we thoroughly enjoyed especially Donna Sofia. The bus stop is located left as you leave B&B Alma.. brilliant service Lam Blu brings you directly through Lucca to the railway station which we found invaluable! I would highly recommend B&B Alma nice to be located outside touristy area & living with the locals ( the buses unfortunately stop at 8.30pm but it’s a nice 25-30 walk) Thanks again Serena & Julia we so enjoyed our stay & will be recommending you to our friends Ciao Maria

Friendly and informative welcome. Super clean room. Yes a little noise from the main road, but nothing that kept us awake. With the window closed it was harldy noticeable. Fantastic breakfast, fresh fruit salad, eggs, bread, cereal, a freshly made coffee if your choice and home made cakes and fresh baked good...croissants etc etc which could all be enjoyed in the sunny terrace. Excellent communication (what time we would arrive, how to get to the hotel) from the owner from booking right through to departure. A 15-20 walk to the centre, a 5 minute €1.30 bus ride,or a 5-10 bike ride using the B&B’s free bicycles. A Coop opposite the B&B and a Lidl right on th corner, plus some nice local restaurants should you not want to visit the centre. Would gladly stay here and again and recommend it highly to anyone considering a stay in Lucca.

The hostis very caring and gave all information needed for a good stay and our next travelling, e.g. locations to go with few tourists but still worth to see! B&B Alma is a very nice place to stay in Lucca. It is neat, clean, with very nice rooms, including airco. The host is really kind and enthousiastic! The breakfast is good and the roof terrace is quite big and relaxt. The city centre is 7 minutes by bike (provided by the B&B), a large supermarket is situated across the road and some nice restaurants are closeby. We visited Lucca one day and went to cinque terre the other day. This B&B is a very good and nice place to stay in Lucca and go to other places as well.

Loved this place. We stayed there on our last night of our holliday and it is very comfortable with great friendly service and very resonably priced. The rooms were spacious and had airconditioning. The breakfast was good with fruit, sweat treats and coffe made to order. Highly recommend this place if you ever visit Lucca.

Together with my family, i have had a chance to be hosted by Serena in lovely b&b of hers. We have been warmly welcomed and hosted throughout our week stay there. Serena proved dedication in directing us towards best locations nearby (being extremely helpful whatever we needed to know). We have been welcomed with the welcome drink and good atmosphere lasted undisturbed till the end of our stay. The location is at c. 25 minutes walking distance to the city center so we have decided to go there by car (Serena, as usual, advised for the best parking location that was free of charge and next to the city center). Rooms are clean in rather traditional than modern style and include safety deposit box, TV and air conditioning controlled individually. You are free to use the large room where the breakfasts are being served (which we did to see some Euro 2016 games) as well as use the small terrace (hard to describe exactly). We have parked our car at the public parking in front of the hotel (there is a shopping center, Lidl and other Fer stores nearby). Parking was safe and free of charge. We can recommend the place! For the price spot set around 50 euro per night (room for a couple) it is like a bargain. The atmosphere there is truly unique. You can ask whatever you need to know and be sure that Serena will provide you with the right answer to suits your needs!
