Our room was the one pictured online, lime green aspects, beautiful glass pendants, spacious bathroom, parquet floor, retro wallpaper in clothes storage. Hotel Diana, Lucca is the newer addition to The San Martino round the corner and is a superb alternative to the nearby Pisa. The historic building is typical of the area, close to the Puccini church, and all that Lucca has to offer. A bike ride ( and a walk) around the city was a highlight of our three week Italian holiday. In Pasta, a nearby restaurant was also a most memorable meal. We paid an extra 10 euros for their plentiful breakfast offering each day.

Easy to follow map directions from host. Quiet room with good shower. Plenty of space for bags. Had key to building as well as our room so that we could come and go as we pleased. Amazing hosts that were very accommodating, we go back too late from our morning walk for breakfast but they were happy to serve us and nothing was a problem. They also looked after our bags once we checked out so that we could look around their beautiful town some more.

Room Tip: You do not need a car in the old town. Best to walk on the wall in morning.

The hotel staff were fabulous. Very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. The loo in our room was so close to the shower screen, you could just about get round it but maybe that was just our room. Great location for walking round Lucca. Sister hotel is just round the corner. I would probably stay in that one next time.

Had a bit of difficulty finding Hotel San Martino to check in but we actually stayed at Hotel Diana which is around the corner from San Martino.

Hotel Diana is nicely decorated inside. We had everything we needed for our stay. We went to a wonderful restaurant (Da Rosolo) suggested by the hotel.

The next day we wanted to have the breakfast buffet but was turned away due to lack of space because of many conference attendees were having breakfast there. The hotel did suggest Pasticceria Pinelli and we had good coffee and enjoyed delicious local pastries with outdoor seating across from the bakery

One negative point: We were a bit cold and wished there were extra set of blankets inside the room as the reception closes at 8pm. By the time we returned from dinner it was too late to contact the reception for help.

We enjoyed our one-night stay and would recommend this budget-friendly Hotel Diana to those visiting Lucca.

Good location. Reception and breakfast room nice.
Internet connection good
Rooms very basic and very old fashioned.
Old fashioned floor tiles.
They only change towels if you request it.
If staying for more than one night - they make the bed and do a quick clean.
The water in the shower and washbasin was lukewarm.
The toiletries are very poor quality and the towels have seen better days.
Hairdryer was weird and impossible to use, so dated.
Lots of noise from people coming in late and from the street until 02:00
They need to put in secondary double glazing and some form of soundproofing
Breakfast - nice, with a reasonable choice

This is a lovely hotel with incredible staff and a delicious breakfast spread right in the heart of Lucca - I would go back in a heartbeat. I somehow forgot my money belt, which also included my passport (!), at the hotel when we checked out. I only realized this when our tour leader got a call on the train to our next location. After my heart attack subsided, my husband and I took the train back and the money belt was safely at the hotel front desk, intact - and the lovely staff also called a long distance taxi for us to meet up with our group again in time for our next activity. This was just the cherry on the sundae - we loved the hotel’s front terrace, lovely breakfast room, quiet sleeping accommodations with lots of space, and walkability. We’ll be back!

Really nice budget hotel in an excellent location, close to the train station and easy waking distance to the main attractions in the city. The only negative was the bathroom was a little cramped, toilet and shower too close together. However the room was clean, comfortable and quiet and we would definitely stay again.

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had unusual but interesting decor. Breakfast was a little uninspiring and the coffee was dreadful. The only real negative was the slamming shut of the outer hotel entrance door by fellow guests. It can't be that difficult to install a soft close door. Overall , good value for money

I stayed at Hotel Diana for three nights with a group. We were all delighted with our time here. Relaxed, intimate atmosphere, ever-present and friendly staff, charming and comfortable rooms. The location was perfect -- in the city center but also a stone's throw from transportation to and from Lucca. Highly recommended!

Steps from the Cathedral and the wall, the room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The exemplary staff were warm, efficient and ready to cater to your every need. Add to that a great breakfast and what else could you ask for? Highly recommended.
