This hotel is divine. We had two rooms with another couple. The owner is the most gracious, welcoming host and speaks many languages beautifully. The overnight man - there is always someone at the front desk - is a charming fellow. They are helpful, the breakfast is absolutely sublime, the beds are perfect, the rooms quiet, and they have heated towel racks. The showers are wonderful. This is a cozy, excellent place, close to restaurants and Lucca's great wall. Parking is available. Warren and Susan
We stayed at the hotel Palazzo Alexander for a family break for 3 days and couldn’t recommend it enough. When we arrived our bags were kindly unloaded and we were checked in quickly and easily. We arrived reasonably late and were given some local recommendations on where to go for dinner. The hotel is small and quaint, but has everything that you need. The rooms are comfortable and have good facilities and are regularly cleaned and tidied. We asked for a family room, which ended up being two large adjoining rooms which worked really well for us - two showers and toilets are always handy… plus two mini bars! Location is excellent, slightly out of the absolute centre but walking distance to everything within 5 mins. Everyone that works at the hotel is incredibly friendly and helpful and completely made our stay. Breakfast was fantastic, everything is freshly cooked and brought to the table and it was creaking once all the food was brought out! If you need a drink, or somewhere to rest / cool down through the day, the bar is open and they will happily serve you coffee and drinks. I genuinely couldn’t recommend this hotel more. We also stayed in Pisa and Florence during our trip but this was our favourite. Thanks to everyone involved.…
We just completed a 3 day stay at the wonderful Hotel Palazzo Alexander within the walls of Lucca. This hotel was a great choice! The hotel and rooms were historically charming, spotlessly clean and worked well. The breakfast beautifully served in their lovely dining area. The father and son proprietors were very friendly, helpful and spoke English. The convenient car park was about 1/2 block away for a modest fee. Walking distance to most sights within the walls of Lucca. Excellent!
Lucca is one of my favorite places in Italy and this hotel, from the owner to the breakfast waiter, is just wonderful. The rooms are lovely, big and comfy, with great services (Including the chance to use your streaming services) and the hotel is located in the city but away from the more touristy parts, so it is quite. Lucca is a small town but still has areas noisier than others. And thanks from the heart to the owner, who told us that the little church by the Duomo had a concert of Puccini arias that night: I mean... Puccini at home, what else can you ask for? I'm not just recommending it, I'm planning to return to Lucca and to stay at the Palazzo Alexander again.
We had a wonderful five day stay at Hotel Palazzo Alexander. The hotel was clean, the room was comfortable, but the people are what make this hotel stand out above others. Mario and Roberto were so helpful with everything! The breakfast was served, rather than a buffet and there was plenty of food, including eggs cooked to order. The location was perfect! It was inside the wall and walking distance to everything we wanted to see. You will not be sorry if you stay at this lovely hotel.
The hotel is in a good position right in the heart of Lucca but tucked away at the end of a quiet street. It is a traditional, rather old fashioned hotel. The beds are comfortable, the rooms quiet, the water hot and everything is very clean. Breakfast is served (rather than self service) and the selection on offer is good. Best of all are the fantastic staff who make the hotel a real gem. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They recommended a nearby restaurant that we probably would not have found ourselves and made our reservation. It was a delicious meal. They also booked us a transfer to the airport which was cheaper than we could have booked ourselves. I would be very happy to stay here again.
Hotel Alexander Palazzo is a great boutique hotel. Feels more like you’re staying at your great uncle’s house. The service is great and you truly feel welcomed and cared for. The breakfast is also nice, and there was so much food!! The rooms are small -but average for Italy.
My wife and I enjoyed our four nights stay quite a lot. We had a standard room on the first floor with a king bed. The room was reasonably priced... spacious, comfortable, quiet, clean, with a nice size bathroom with shower. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was fantastic and an easy walk to just about anywhere within the city walls. The breakfast provided every morning was wonderful and a great way to start off the day. I have no problem recommending this hotel and would stay here again.
We stayed here for a night with our 2 kids (12 and 13) in August. The staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful. The hotel is old-fashioned but that is part of its charm. We had a family room which is actually 2 interconnecting rooms - so 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms and it was ideal for our purposes. Working A/C was very welcome. The staff parked our car for us, booked a restaurant in advance and provided an excellent breakfast. In a world becoming ever more standardised we feel it is important to support these smaller independent hotels because they may not be around when my kids want to take their children to somewhere like Lucca.
This delightful hotel is really professionally run the staff could not be more helpful and friendly Our room Tosca had a lovely terrace overlooking the rooftops. We would certain return when next in the area.
