My husband and I were looking for a cosy place to discover Lucca and Pisa from, before taking the ferry in Livorno to go to Sardinia. Villa La Perla is very well located to discover the essentials of both towns including a nap at the beach in Viareggio in just one day! Probably the large room with separate bathroom and the cosy bed prepared us well for the day. Walter, the manager, served a beautiful and large breakfast and still smiled when we asked for the third cup of his wonderful cappuccino. We highly recommend this place for a shorter stay to discover the surrounding areas. Thank you, Walter, for making our two day stay a beautiful experience. We're happy we made the acquaintance of such a warm, approachable and humorous person. We met Silvia, the other manager, briefly and were stunned by this wonderful bundle of Italian energy! All in all a very good start for our vacation in Sardinia.…
A beautiful house with garden in the countryside just a few km out of Lucca. Beautifully restored, old furniture, making you feel like in the previous century. A rather complete breakfast in the old fashion dining room. We personally had a problem with the toilet but I want to believe that it was a bad moment of the cleaning lady. We referred the problem to Claudia, she apologized and said she would handle it. Maybe more severe inspection...
We stayed in La Perla for 3 nights in a family room. We found the place conveniently located minutes away from Lucca, enroute to Pisa via hills and not far from the highway. The house itself is a villa from 17th century with some original features. AC is available so you can use it when it is too hot to keep the windows open (to keep admiring fantastic views of the hills). The atmosphere is relaxing and cosy from the minute you enter the place. Hosts are super nice, helpful guides and available when needed. Plenty of car park space, good wi-fi and a fridge in a room.
Small hotel on a busy road 5 minutes from Lucca, 10 by bus. Nice room, air conditioned. Lovely garden which is a nice place to take the delicious breakfast. Good, secure parking. The owners are both charming and very helpful.
Looking back at the time we spent with our hosts, Claudia and Antonio, made our time in Lucca special. The historic Villa has a lot of charm and the common rooms are beautifully decorated with murals. We arrived on a rainy day after driving from Rome. We were tired and didn't want to find a place for dinner. Surpise..they offer a home made dinner at 7:30 every evening. There was a couple of choices for appetizer, entree and dessert for 20 Euros. All very delicious. Wine is extra but very appreciated that first evening. We choice to have our last meal in Lucca at the Villa. Our room had a wonderful view of the farm across the street. We were on the 3rd floor and glad there was an elevator. The room and en suite were clean with nice towels and basic amenities. The hand held shower hose was tricky to manage and the water pressure was not as good as I would of liked. There were 2 double windows in our room which help reduce the road noise. It was nice to be able to open them during our stay. They replaced my mattress because I could feel the springs. Claudia said replacing the mattresses was on the top of there list of improvements. Breakfast is like going to your favorite pastry shop. Many delicious choices. I would say breakfast included something for everyone. I am a cereal, milk, fruit and juice person. My traveling companion is a hard boiled egg, toast, cheese/meats and pastry person. Oh by the way, kudos to Antonio for making the best cappuccinos for us every morning! One of the best features of the Villa is the available parking space. It is a short drive to the city of Lucca and there is free parking in the Piazzale Don Franco Baroni but check when the annual fair occurs. We were there in May and 2 of our 7 days there was pop up open market with 40 - 50 vendors. We still found a parking spot and did some souvenir shopping! It is a 5 minute walk to the wall. Cara Claudia and Antonio, grazie mille per la tua ospitalita. Valerie and Donna…
We stayed 4 nights in this villa. The room was huge and very nice decorated. Breakfast is excellent. The owners are very friendly and always ready to give information or advice, if necessary. It's true that the hotel is located nearby a road, but the windows are double isolated and we had no sound trouble at all. A perfect place to stay to visit Lucca, Pisa and other places in this Tuscan environment.
We stayed one night at Villa La Perla with the intention of visiting Lucca the evening we arrived. We received a warm welcome and excellent advice on where to park our car in Lucca and to hire bicycles. The Villa is tastefully decorated and has a small lift to reach the bedrooms in the 1st and 2nd floors. The rooms provide all that you need hair dryers , aircon, fridge etc. The Villa has a small and pretty garden , although the proximity of the busy Pisa-Lucca road means taking breakfast there might not be to everyone’s liking . Breakfast included fruit juice, cereals, traditional meats and cheeses, boiled egg and coffee and tea. Conveniently next door is La Perla Pasticcaria and Galetetia which is justifiably very popular with locals and stays open until midnight - ideal for a nightcap and a slice of cake or ice cream. …
Amazing spot to spend a night or two. I've stayed here before and I will stay again. It's a family business and the staff is very kind and helpful. The best sleep I had in all my vacation. I prefer rooms towards the garden, because the ones towards the street become a bit noisy in the morning.
We spent three very nice days in the "Villa la Perla." The Hotel is very nicely decorated in its Tuscan style. The owners take care very well of the premises. They were always open to help and give pieces of advice. Located in the skirts of Lucca, you can only consider this as an option if you are driving your own car.
Our hosts at La Perle were excellent. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a huge common sitting room. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The only regret was the proximity to a busy road
