Part of the XIV century Torre del Travaglio, one of the three medieval towers of Lucca. L’Antica Bifore has four spacious matrimonial suites, La Divina, Beatrice, Dante, and Paradiso. Each is different in its architectural shape and form, with beautiful frescoes and unique pieces of period furniture. We can organise wine tasting, cookery classes and more. L'Antica Bifore is an absolute gem. Located in the heart of historic Lucca, the building is 13th century with all of the history that goes with it. We stayed in the "Beatrice" room which is directly across the street from San Giovanni church, open the "bifora" window and the church is right there, 40' away, beautiful. Our room was perfect, a trip into the middle ages but with the comforts of present time and immaculate. Our hosts Alice & Alessandro made us feel like family with their assistance and suggestions, we felt right at home. Lucca is a beautiful city with plenty to do, incredible food, amazing art and opera every night, that's about as good as it gets. We highly recommend L'Antica Bifore for anyone venturing to Lucca. Despite the unprepossessing front door, this is a delightful little guest house in the midst of the town. You climb a flight of stairs to the apartment itself, which has four guest rooms; we were greeted by appointment by the hostess (and her young son), and shown our room, which overlooked the church across the street. The room itself was comfortably large and nicely appointed. The only drawback was that at times it was noisy, most notably when a high school band took its place on the church steps around 9 p.m. to play a rock set (twice). But that ended eventually, and the street noise quieted down shortly thereafter. The apartment is well located, with several restaurants and cafes in easy walking distance, as well as access points to the wall surrounding the city. All in all, this was a lovely place to stay, and I recommend it.…

This is essentially a B & B in the heart of Lucca. It's right in the mix, so nothing is far away. It's beautifully clean, has great beds (firm) brilliant shower and washing facilities. Breakfast a little basic but don't let that put you off. Alessandro and Alice are a delight. Alice is a real darling. Highly recommended.

All very good feedback that this guest house already collected is fully earned: very clean , very well equipped, very quiet and excellent AC! Very nicely decorated with full respect of the history of this house in the middle of the town.Very professionally managed by a dynamic couple offering their visitors all support for instance to find the best parking and flexibility with luggage for check-in/out.For Lucca a perfect solution to sleep.

Fascinating rooms set in part of a lovely and quirky medieval building. Central location was exactly what we wanted, and overlooked the buzzing street below and opposite church Chiesa di San Christoforo. Something rather cool too about entering through a rather anonymous looking old door on a busy street... Sweet hosts Alice and Alessandro were lovely and full of great tips and recommendations, and in easy touch on WhatsApp for anything. We'd very happily return! There was nothing we didn't like about it, but to save anyone being disappointed do remember being so convenient and so central means it comes with the buzz of the city below so don't expect peace and quiet. We loved it!

We stayed here for one night and wish we had stayed for much longer. The photos do not represent just how excellent this very special place is. We arrived by a limousine from Pisa, organised by the owners. That worked really well and the driver was nice. Our plane was late, so Alessandro, the owner arranged for us to be dropped off in the restaurant where he works, saving us a table and keeping the kitchen open. What a brilliant meal to start off our holiday. Entry into L'Antica Before was so easy, with very clear instructions. But when we entered the building we just said "Wow". Surely the most historic and beautiful place we had ever seen. We slept well and then Alessandros partner Alice arrived next morning with the most delicious box of pastries and juices. Alice was surely one of the nicest people around - a lovely lady who gave us lots of advice as to what to go and see in and around the city. We were only here for the one night, but wished it had been more. We will return. Five stars really isn't enough - it deserves 10 out of 5 at least 8-).…

The L'Antica Bifore was the perfect stay in Lucca. One feels as though they live in Lucca, as the guest house is in the heart of town near everything, through an old door that leads upstairs to the residence. The interior is absolutely beautiful, maintained in a period style with furniture, murals, artwork and every element consistent with an elegant historic residence from the 1200s. The room was comfortable, with stained glass windows, heating and air conditioning, and every detail thought through. Alice and Allessandro are the owners and hosts, and they pay attention to every detail and are attentive to every need. There are so many thoughtful touches and everything is clean and well maintained. I recommend getting the breakfast, as Alice puts together a beautiful box of pastries, juices, fruits and coffee. She also made suggestions for sightseeing, dining, apertivo, and wine tasting, and diligently helped us with reservations. Allessandro manages one of the top restaurants in town and he reserved a table on the piazza one cool night with blankets and overhead heaters making for a comfortable night out. The guest house is in the middle of everything with plenty of shopping and restaurants and food vendors all around. There is free parking outside town, or one can pay for parking inside and walk to the guest house. If driving, I recommend paying to park to unload/load bags nearer to the guest house, and then parking in the free parking outside the city walls. …

Alice and Alessandro could not have made our stay in Lucca any better! Every detail is thoughtfully considered, the rooms and common area are beautiful and they do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. L’Antica Bifore is located in a beautiful medieval and historic building and yet has all the modern amenities. Most importantly, the hosts are so very welcoming and accommodating.

Alessandro and Alice give us a very good welcome. We were in the middle of the centre and close to all the things we wanted to see. We park the car outside the center on a free parking and was a short walk . The breakfast was very good.
