Some memories are made to be engraved. Like forever. For posterity. Our stay at Grand Universe Lucca on March 6, 2023 has been like a breeze, tucked away jn Italy’s Tuscany — a region with beautiful flowers & vineyards on hilltops overlooking the blue Tyrrehenian sea. It’s a hotel on a heritage property surrounded by charming vintage buildings and market where no cars are allowed except police vehicles & bicycles on the Wall. We had a lovely stay on our honemoon being made special as a Bonvoy Platinum Elite member. There’s everything spick & span here including washroom, brekfast, decors, location, rooms — from flooring to ceiling, cutlery, amenities & cleanliness. The Italian decors — ubiquitous marble flooring, tiles, bathware with windows giving you a glimpse of Tuscany’s city life, locals and schools. The staff led by their team members like Vanessa, Roberto, William and Marriana others are always excited to make the stay a memorable. The staff speaks good fluent English and always finds ways to make your stay convenient, comfortable They even decorated our breakfast table with little heart shaped flowers and chocolates and regularly served us Italian capuccinos, knowing it was our honeymoon. Being home to the chocolcate company Ferrero Rocher, they have plenty of very tiny Nutella jars to pick up for tours. Thanks to the Marriott group for making this a memorable stay at this new two-year-old property in Lucca, 30 minutes away from Pisa. We shall always miss our room 305 — an upgraded junior suite. This is definitely a hidden gem! I highly recommend to visit Lucca, small and quaint and less tourist crowd! We love the Grand Universe, it is so new and pristine, but yet has 100's of years of history, and right in the piazza. Vanessa took good care of our stay, especially during the pre-check in, to help us with dealing with the rental car, unloading the luggages since this is a ZTL zone, and where to park and got us a nice room fronting the piazza! Room quality, breakfast is excellent! Matteo also helped us throughout the stay with restaurant and winery bookings and other tips and tricks. Kudos to the Grand Universe team!

Gorgeous hotel, beautiful location, wonderful staff. I would highly recommend this hotel if visiting Lucca. We stayed for 1 night and the hotel was extremely clean, luxurious, and beautiful for the price point. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was lovely. My only qualms were how tiny the room was - I know it is in the city center and this is Europe but we were told it was larger than the original room we booked so just be aware of that when booking a normal non-suite room. We were extremely hot due to unseasonably warm temperatures in Italy this week and the hotel’s AC being off for the winter. This was the case with all 5 hotels we visited on our trip and not unique to the hotel but just something to be aware of.

This place is awesome. After staying at many remotely located hotels on our Italy road trip, it was great to be smack in the middle of the historic city and all the action and restaurants. Location couldn't be better, but do be aware that external parking is a royal headache. GPS doesn't work well in the city and it's not easy to find your way, but that's the tradeoff of being in the old town so it was expected. Rooms are beautiful and they did give us nice upgrades with Marriott status. High ceilings and great views of the plaza from the room. Comfy bed, massive TV, good towels, robes and slippers. Bigelow bath amenities not quite up to the caliber of the hotel (that used to be the standard brand in Holiday Inns in the US). Also it would be nice if they would provide a couple of bottles of complimentary water and/or a welcome treat of some kind. The food at dinner was excellently prepared, with good service and good pricing. Breakfast was pretty good but the pastries did not taste freshly baked. Overall though, this hotel is a great choice for a luxury and well located experience in beautiful Lucca.…

I stayed at the Grand Universe for six days, and it was perfect in every way. I just loved staying here. To begin with my room, #318, was completely silent at night with the windows closed, although the hotel is in the central historic part of Lucca. The room was spacious with an additional small sitting area, very comfortable bed, modern lighting and bath fixtures, and a view over the rooftops. The management was happy to oblige with any request that I had. The hotel is elegant and luxurious but the price was reasonable. I would gladly stay there again!

We were in Lucca on a 5 day visit. We were upgraded to a gorgeous King Jr. Suite. The hotel is perfectly located near the gates across from the train station. Highlighted by Vanessa, Matteo, and Riccardo, the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The restaurant served delicious fare and was also quite reasonably priced. We look forward to returning!

My husband and I spent five wonderful days at the Grand Universe. We were upgraded due to my platinum status and they included a daily breakfast as well. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, with service twice daily. The location was ideal, near the train station, but within the walled city. It’s a in a quiet part of the city. In fact it was the quietest hotel room I have experienced. We would definitely come back.

We loved Lucca and we loved the Grand Universe! The locations is excellent--easy walk from train station, easy access for walking on the wall, and convenient for exploring many interesting shops and wonderful restaurants. The hotel itself is beautifully furnished and the service both professional and friendly. Reception staff were extremely helpful each and every time we made a request. We were very happy with our room and with the excellent breakfast. We highly recommend this well-run property to anyone looking for a top notch property for their stay in Lucca.

From when we arrived at this gorgeous hotel for our 1 night stay the service was impeccable. Greeted with a welcome drink the staff were very friendly and answered all of our questions. Both the interior and exterior of the hotel was stunning and you could definitely attest that it is a 5 star property. Location was great and there was so many shops and beautiful restaurants in walking distance.

One of the few true “hotels” in Lucca, this place is top notch. Recently renovated rooms, decent size bathrooms, and high quality service. The location is close to restaurants and tourist attractions. The roof top bar provides a great view of the entire city. I would highly recommend the grand universe.
