Hello everybody! I am the owner of Hotel Ristorante Villa Cheli and my name is Vincent. Today I decided to write a review to tell a little bit of our house .. Villa Cheli is a colonial villa built in 1700 , formerly owned by the family Cheli . The last owner was a sculptor , a sculptor of chalk. During the restoration , in fact , we found some of his works in the attic .. And we thought .. Why not share it with our guests ? Coming to visit us in fact you can admire them within the walls (internal and external ) of the Villa .. A bit ' as we were in a museum. The hotel rooms are located on three floors .. The first floor, the main floor of the Villa, are situated the suite and two rooms overlooking the balcony .. The second floor rooms with large windows and high ceilings on the third floor .. Instead there are the most romantic rooms with sloping roof with exposed beams and small skylights in the ceiling. On the ground floor, in addition to the reception, we have our own restaurant, open for the summer season , from March to November , that in addition to the typical dishes of Italian cuisine in general , it also offers some taste of the Tuscan tradition and Lucca. And for relaxation ? Do not miss our pool and our wellness area! All the staff and me we will be happy to welcome you in the warmest way possible and help you with all your needs

A charming but dated old hotel in a lovely setting. Close proximity to Lucca, average but overpriced restaurant, basic and unimpressive breakfast and NO working AC units. We have two rooms, neither has a working AC because the units are 30+ years old and need replacement.

Really a 3.5 . This hotel is in a lovely setting and has a fabulous pool . The staff are lovely too . Much needed after the madness of Florence Rooms must be improved to improve rating and also there is limited food options during the day . The hotel is a few KM from a town and you can feel a tad stranded when you want a snack after travelling

A great place to spend a few days in beautiful Lucca. The surroundings are fantastic. The hotel sits majestically at the end of the avenue. The outdoor restaurant serves fine Italian cuisine. The swimming pool at the back gives peace of mind. Breakfast is good. But the very best is the staff who provide an incredible service. They help guests with everything - and a little more. There is no doubt where we will be staying during our next visit to beautiful Tuscany.

I came back to Villa Cheli after 3 years and it still is a first class experience. The villa is beautiful, the swimming pool is huge, there is a good buffet breakfast and their Camelia restaurant for dinner is absolutely amazing. However, what really stands out is the staff, always so kind and willing to go out of their way to help you, especially Silvia, but all the staff members are top notch. The location is 10 minutes drive from Lucca city center, so you can enjoy the beautiful city and relax in the afternoon. Highly recommended!

Suggest not to buy the olive oil, its a scam. We had dinner this summer at the restaurant with a group of friends and they opened a fanatic bottle of olive oil for us. We were so impressed that we all bought one or two bottles to take back home. When we opened it back home we all discovered its not the same. Colour is very light green and tastes like sunflower oil. Disgusting and so disappointed from this place. We had a fantastic meal, very friendly owner and family, we were not expecting such a scam. Especially since I’ve brought several clients in the past to this hotel. The owner reassured me that it was the same oil, this is the most disappointing part, we spent some time talk about the oil. I’m keeping the open bottle and taking it back to him when I return to Lucca. I’ll make sure he enjoys it.

Goodmorning, we're really sad to read your words and we're sorry about that but the maintenance of the oil also depends on the temperatures to which they have been exposed, such as exposure to the sun or heat sources. Our olive oil is always made with our olive trees that you find in the property. We have no intention of scamming our customers, especcially those like you. We kindly ask you to send us your address where we will be able to send others olive oil bottles. We want assure you that the oil served at the restaurant is the same that we sell in our cellar. Hope to receive your reply as soon as you can. Best Regards Hotel Villa Cheli

When you arrive to the place and see this nice mansion at the very end of cypress alley, you are very impressed - kind of typical Tuscany picture. Once in your room, the dream quickly fades away. rooms would definitely require a massive refurbishing as clearly outdated and bathrooms are really average. We did not try the restaurant but only the breakfast and was so-so. Good point is the big swimming pool on the back of the house but keep in mind that it is in the shade quite early in the afternoon (because of the big hill nearby).

Impressive outside, and has a nice pool surrounded by AstroTurf and wasps. Inside, the rooms have plastic shelves and rusty fittings. The housekeeper is really loud, and wakes everyone up at 6.45am by slamming doors and cupboards and dragging things around. As for breakfast, not quite sure how you can get toast and cereal wrong, but they managed it. There was no milk, a complete refusal to make the bread even slightly brown. Very friendly receptionist though, which is why the score isn’t lower. There’s no bar. Dinner is worth it, should you choose not to go into town.

I called this hotel a slice of heaven after our second stay in 2016 and while the grounds and location are still lovely the persona of the hotel has definitely changed. My sister and I would laugh and joke with the staff when we had dinner or sat in the bar having a glass of wine. But that warmth is no longer there. First the staff chastised me for changing my reservation and confusing them, then lectured my sister about the price of wine when she was just asking about a wine stopper she’d misplaced. (presumably that was because I asked why a bottle of wine cost 6 euros one day and 10 euros the next.) Plus the second floor loggia is no longer available for all guests, just those who pay for the more expensive rooms next to it. While our room was large and reasonably pleasant, the wifi didn’t work there and the water pressure and temperature in the shower would change without warning. And they really need to replace the 1960’s hair dryers.

Like many, I’m sure, we were lured to this 17th century villa by the 4 star rating on TripAdvisor and the pictures of the cedar lined driveway and country location. First, what is good about this property. The rear gardens with large swimming pool are very nice. The young bartender/waiter could not have been nicer and more helpful. The dinner in the restaurant, while not exceptional, was quite nice. And the price is very attractive, which I suspect is why the high rating. Now what put us off: The room (we booked a junior suite) was cheaply furnished. What was advertised as a king sized bed was actually two doubles pushed together, and not secured so if you’re in the middle the mattresses separate and you fall between them. The bedside lamp was so dim it could not be used for reading. The reception staff were not particularly helpful. If you go to the bar for a cocktail, there is no where to sit except in the reception area. The restaurant is not open for lunch so to eat you have to walk down the long driveway and across a very busy road to a deli - which is actually quite nice, but not a restaurant. The breakfast buffet in the morning was awful. Coffee from a machine, days old croissants, rubber eggs. The ham and cheese were ok. We booked for 3 days but checked out after 1. Would not go back or recommend.

We stayed recently for three nights as part of our tour of Tuscany. The hotel is about 30 minute drive from Pisa airport and five minutes by car from Lucca. The drive up to the villa which is lined with cedars is stunning. Hotel offered a very large breakfast buffet and good restaurant offering too - we ate in both nights. The staff were very attentive, especially the lady on reception who provided maps and lots of local knowledge. The only downside for us was our room was very dark and we had a very noisy fridge but that aside a great stay.
