This hotel was part of a group tour I was on. Cramped quarters, no elevator to the second floor so had to drag our luggage up the stairs, sparsely furnished, small and strangely configured bathroom which caused bumped knees in the middle of the night, mosquitoes, street noise, curt staff. So substandard that I bailed out and booked into a nice place on the same block.

I went with a cooking group to Florence, Italy and this was the hotel they booked us in. Run do not walk away from this place. Although it has historical references, it once was a convent, the furniture is outdated and the pictures on the website are not true to reality. The motel is owned by a husband and wife. When you first walk in you are greeted by Peaches a dog that has never been groomed as far as I can tell with knots all over his or her body. I was brought to my room since there was no elevator and it was difficult for me to bring my suitcase up the stairs. The room smelled of male body odor. Not the musk kind, just really stinky. When I went to bed that night I noticed that there wasn't a blanket or a duvet cover just a sheet to use to sleep under. I thought perhaps this was an Italian style. When I brought this up to the owner, Barbara, the next morning she insisted that I had a blanket. I had to prove to her that there was no blanket. When I got back from my cooking class an old blanket was left on the bed for me to use. I noticed that I and the others in the hotel were getting mosquito bites all over our bodies from the hotel. I mentioned it to Barbara and her response was that it was my fault because I kept my window open and this was Florence. When I explained that I have not kept my window open and I am sleeping with my winter jacket over my head at night she then said that the cleaning lady leaves the windows open during the day. I also complained that I didn't get WiFi in my room unless I was sitting next to the door to the room or in the hallway. She didn't believe me and went into the room and saw that the WiFi was sketchy. When I told her that I try to read in bed from my iPad she told me I shouldn't be doing that it wasn't good for my eyes. I was able to move to a fine hotel just a couple of door down but did not receive a refund of any sort from the Hotel Privilege. Believe me it is NOT a privilege to stay here.

Emmanuel was amazing. He was very helpful in arranging taxi service for us, directing and advising us on sites, and ALWAYS available( I often wondered if he even slept) He tried to help my husband and me with our Italian, and was very encouraging (even though I butchered the language) His dog, Peach, is super cute too. What I liked about this hotel was that it was in a great location. If we wanted to visit any major sites, we could walk, or we could take a taxi (and it was affordable). I admit the room was very outdated, but it was clean. The bathroom was nicely updated with a heated towel rack! The complimentary breakfast consisted of Italian meats , cheese, pastries, eggs, tomatoes, and bread. It was good, solid breakfast. The TV had great channels and I was able to wind down at night and watch great Italian dramas and comedies. Wifi worked awesome as well! It was well priced. I enjoyed my stay here.

The Hotel has the most amazing views of the Arno river and is directly across the river from the walkway that goes up to St. Miniato church. The hotel is on the street but closing the shutters, the 2 interior windows and the drapes made the room almost soundproof. The hotel was once a palazzo, then later a convent. The owners are on hand often and were super helpful. Great place to stay in Florence!

After a transatlantic flight, had to wait 30 min for someone to show up as there was only an old dog at the reception when I came in which did not set me for a good start… receptionist was rude and pretty aggressive. He also did want to make a copy of my credit card ! Room is awful, need serious modernization. Rugs are filthy and very worn. Bed cover dirty; bathroom with leaks, extremely small shower, disgusting plastic cover. Will never go back!

We were on a ground level room which, while clean and good-sized, was dated in its decor. The bathroom was large and updated/clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Each morning there was a breakfast buffet which was plentiful. We liked the location on the Arno River just down from Ponte Vecchio and was walkable to everything in the historic center. Just don't expect anything fancy or updated in the room decor. If that's important to you then you might want to look elsewhere.

We can’t say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff! My husband celebrated his birthday in Florence and the couple who runs Privilege made him feel special and like family! We also had an issue while visiting with a moped rental and they were MORE than eager to help us out! Room was fabulous and housed all 5 (3 teenagers included) with a wonderful view! Breakfast was great with pastries, meat, cheeses , cereal, yogurt and delicious coffee! Highly recommend! Staff can’t be beat!

The actual location is lovely right on the river bank and a short walk away from Ponte Vecchio and most of the other usual attractions. The scene is beautiful over the river and the hills beyond. However, if you're visiting in hot weather, it can feel a lot further to walk and it is certainly quite far to walk with even small luggage especially fighting through the crowds on the Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi gallery - best to walk down the back roads which is less crowded and full of interest in their own right. This hotel is on the furthest side away from SMN train station. We were greeted on arrival in a rather unfriendly manner surprisingly but after establishing our booking, our hostess was very interested in helping us plan our activities. Unfortunately our room was poor, the aircon at a permanent full blast setting could not mask the slight smell of mold and the decor of the dim room was very dated (I like retro but this was plain old fashion in a bad way!). I had to unplug the tv to use my mobile charger and the windows looked onto to nothing since it was basement level. Breakfast was a varied little selection but unappealing and not terribly welcoming in a very dated old fashion room. The shower was adequate with basic toiletries but overall, we simply did not like staying there and since we needed to be more central in Florence, opted to leave as soon as we could as we didn't want to spend time trying to change rooms. Shame.

Nice place, family oriented, kids playing and laughing outside as I type. Clean, family ran who obviously care about their business. Great English speaking hosts. This is great value compared to the more tourist centered lodging. Would invite more Americans not only here but to Bulgaria. Learn to say thank you in Bulgarian. It goes a long way with the people in Bulgaria Rick
