Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Ca' dei Dogi has an awesome location! They are just around the corner from St. Mark's Square, Doge's Palace, and the Alilaguna transportation. Our room was small, but very clean. Breakfast was perfect every morning, even at 3:30 a.m. on the day of departure.

The room was comfortable, although up some stairs, and breakfast was perfect each morning. This is around the corner from St Mark's Square and many attractions. When we had free time, the staff helped us find things to do during our short visit. Would be happy to return.

Does the Moon apartment have washer and dryer?
Hi, The Moon apartment has a washer but no dryer. They have a drying rack for you though. It is not a full size washing machine but it served our purpose. Most Italians hang dry their laundry it seems. hope that helps

There are no cars anywhere near St. Mark’s Square. I think you have to leave your car in the train station and then take a water taxi or the vaporetto to go through the water. The hotel is really close to the vaporetto station. I recommend it more than water taxi since it is cheaper...
