Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Aliliiguna Waterbus. You can find the timetable on the internet which gives the different routes into the City so make sure you are on the right Aliliguna or you will finish up the wrong end of Venice. Tickets available in the airport entrance or at the Aliliguna desk at the Pier. Bus from outside the airport to Piazzale Roma a few euros, but you will then have to take the Waterbus down the Grand Canal to Arsenale. Water Taxi if booked in advance (hotel will tell you name of firm) approximately 100 euros and you disembark 50 yards from hotel entrance. Or you can book a shared water taxi, I think approximately 25 euros per person last time I looked.

You can also reserve it in advance from the Venezia Taxi website
In alternative there is the public Shuttle Boat ALILAGUNA Blue Line to Arsenale, it cost 15.00 Euro per person and takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
If you send us a direct email we can provide you with detailed instructions on a pdf file.
Looking forward to the pleasure of hearing further from you, we remain,
