#172 of 412 hotels in Venice
Conveniently located in the heart of Venice, Duodo Palace Hotel is set within a historical building, and has been beautifully renovated and restored to create a new four-star hotel in Venice. Saving some of the most important architectural elements from this 600 year-old palazzo, including the frescoed ceilings in each bedroom, the hotel has a truly Venetian feel. Literally located a stone’s throw from La Fenice, the hotel could not be more centrally located. You can stroll to San Marco Square, the Rialto Bridge, or the Accademia, in 10 minutes or less. The top floor accommodations offer sweeping views of the city’s rooftops and major monuments. Glance below and you can watch a gondola slowly glide by your window. Offering direct access to the hotel from the canal, your water taxi can drop you at the door of the Duodo Palace Hotel where you will be warmly greeted by the staff. The hotel’s 38 bedrooms, adorned with beautiful Venetian fabrics, offer the modern amenities required by today’s traveler, including fully marble baths and plush towels. Relax in the cozy bar, or enjoy a book in the study that has the remains of a piscine - an ancient well - where you can almost hear the voices from the past as they share the day’s gossip Welcome to Venice

What a gem of a hotel. Just a five minute walk to Piazza San Marco. If you book a private water taxi from the airport this will drop you at the hotels private canel entrance. Being set back from the hustle and bustle it is a peaceful place to stay. We booked a junior suite and it was just amazing with an original 16th century painted ceiling. A good size bathroom with a full size bath and shower and all the amenities you would expect. Room had a canal view and being on the third floor overlooked the roof tops of the surrounding area. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful with excellent local knowledge. I would highly recommend a stay here. Should we return to Venice I would use the Duodo Palace again.

We booked a delux room for couple of nights and we were given a room on 5th floor (lift only goes to 4th) which looks nothing like the photos of delux room on the website. Then I thought before judging them I look into other types of the rooms and their picture on the website and surprise surprise, I noticed they gave us a Classic room, when we asked the gentleman (arrogantly) told us “you don’t understand” and we decided to talk to the manager next morning and the manager said this is a mistake, this photo should be under delux and your room is a delux and hotel is not at any fault. Their reason was the size of the room is within the range of delux room and not a classic room and there is no other delux room available, there is delux room with view but there is a surcharge. I think if you read this far you get what kind of customer service you get at this hotel. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Apart from this, they have no iron/ironing bed in the hotel due to fire safety and when I asked why you did not mention it on the website they said you can see that in room amenities there is not iron. But they don’t explain why under room facilities on their website its written bat tub and our supposedly delux room had no bat tub. Tbh I was tired of arguing with them, they were very rude and basically all they care is the money. Room was tired and old, bathroom was too old that you did not really want to take shower, Bed was normal and pillows were ok with two option of soft and hard pillows. Breakfast was alright but the water-bath for boiling egg was something rather interesting. Location was great with 6-7 min walk to San Marco. Water taxis come to the hotel and you can come directly to the hotel from the airport with water taxi. Overall I would say its not a 4 star hotel and poor customer service.

Hotel located in the old palace. This hotel has the Michelin star (yes, they also rated hotels). ROOMS: spacious rooms with a touch. We had a canal view room, it’s good and nice. Comfortable bed, four pillows. Good soundproof. LOCATION: excellent location with 5 min walking to San Marco square, 25-30 min walking from railway station by feet. FOOD: breakfast is not included, it costs €15 per person. FACILITIES: good wi-fi. You can order a water taxi to the Hotel’s door, it’s very convenient and so unusual :) there is a bar on the 1st floor of the Hotel. TRANSPORTATION: it’s 30-min road from the railway station by feet, but it’s rather difficult with luggage because of plenty of stairs. You’d better should go by water bus - there is a station at San Marco, and there is 3-5 min walk to the hotel. There is very nice smell on floors thanks to aroma diffusers. You will be not disappointed if you choose this Hotel!

We loved the location of this sweet hotel. It is close to everything, but also tucked away in a quiet theater area of San Marco. The restaurants/cafes on the plazas around us were our favorites. Also, customer service is excellent. The experience of arriving / departing in a water taxi right to the door is so amazing. Just to note, there is no air conditioning, and although the fresh air from open windows was beautiful, but we did end up with mosquito bites (April stay). The breakfast was good, but we also found we could pick up full Americano coffees and croissants / breakfast sandwiches all around our area very easily. 5 stars, highly recommend!

WHOAH… thank you god for the ability to pack my bags and go anywhere else I want because this place was not for me, nor will it be for any of my clients/friends or any other associates I assist with travel in Venice. Never…Ever. Pinky swear! I booked a junior suite with a canal view (I think I would have rather paid more to not get the view I had) Not a great first impression of Venice. I realize they dont have control over the horrific ugliness and filth of other buildings..but they DO have control over charging more to look at it. If a view like that is important to you.. you should get out more. Really. My first room smelled so badly I woke up nauseous and with a massive headache the next morning. I came in late and tried to tough it out… and thought the open windows (see NO AC comments Below) would have helped. No luck! When I went to the front desk the next morning and ask to be moved I was repeatedly (and sarcastically) told it was the disinfectant due to covid as if I should be grateful. They acted as if they believed I had not heard of this new thing called Covid. They were seriously put out by my request. After insisting ……I was eventually moved to a room that didn’t have the foul odor (ironic that disinfectant only terrorized one room… how do you think that happens?? Hmmm, so was one room clean and the the non smelly room not sanitized?? Someone explain this please!!) I later heard the owners (who were not wearing masks at all by the way..) entering the first room to inspect it (which happened to be next door to the second room I was moved to ….and they quickly agreed there certainly was an issue. Also side note….Never assume your guests don’t understand your language!!) Furthermore…… If you are going to yell at guests for not having their nose covered or whatever (not me)…… maybe do not let the owner and his wife walk around with no masks. “Do as I say not as I do” So ridiculous!!! So…the second room I had was fine by 1.5 star ratings. It was clean but very dated. (When was that Renovation?? 1870??) The bedding is the worst I have ever slept on. There are 2 thin and hard twin size mattresses thrown together on a wooden platform to be called a bed. The pillows are not pillows. They are flat squares of firm worn fabric wrapped in a cheap pillow case. I think I saw something similar in a museum the week before when they didnt have luxurious bedding during the Roman times. Electrical - If you are one of those fancy forward thinking individuals that has one of those new fancy smart phones and you need to occasionally charge it…. dont stay here!!! This is NOT the hotel for you!!!!! I travel frequently and I have all of the fancy adapters and converters you can imagine… but they dont work if you dont have outlets! After inquiring a man showed up to move the furniture around to eventually find an outlet he could plug in a power strip (with more adapters connected…) leaving the room in total disarray. What?? This must be a modern day electrician’s worst nightmare!! This placed needs some serious updates. Hear me now Duodo Palace…Power outlets are a BASIC need for any and all hotel stays. This is 2022, not 1600!!. I appreciate the history but I am not paying these rates to live like a pilgrim. Thank you, but no. I dont like camping. Speaking of primitive…that hair dryer is so circa 1907. It’s like a reverse vacuum attached to the wall and the power is so weak it would take me a full day to dry my hair. In fact it would be faster if I had someone blow on my hair with their mouth. I brought my own hair dryer that had dual voltage with all of the appropriate adaptors…but I didnt want to sit on a floor in the corner of the room with no mirror to dry my hair. *** see inadequate outlet comments above! NO AC!!! WHAT??? There is NO good reason for this in the year 2022. I dont care how authentic you want to be. I have stayed in former palaces around Europe in the past that have figured out how to modernize these very basic needs. Even though it was not in the midst of summer, the room was constantly hot. When asked I was sarcastically told to open the window, which I did but then I get to listen to the noise on the canal all night. To be fair it was fairly quiet most of the night but there was plenty of chatter and passing boat noise that echos loudly against the brick walls and right into your room. The worst part however was being woke to the sound of mosquitos buzzing my face all night long. Thank you for the bug bites Duodo Palace! I have 2 bites on my face and 7 on my arms and hands and 4 on my ankles. Duodo you are the gift that keeps on giving and that is the only souvenir from this trip that I wont have a hard time fitting in my luggage. The first impression of the lobby is nice, however thats the end of it. There is potential but there is currently ZERO atmosphere in this hotel. (INSERT weak and lame covid excuse here that doesn’t affect other hotels I visited) I saw what appeared to be a restaurant/bar area but never saw a soul in there. Perhaps they should use that space for breakfast rather than the dungeon under the check in area which only seats a dozen people at most at a time with one (VERY SLOW) staff member that walks each person individually to the meager “buffet” to serve you like a child. It’s strange and completely awkward. A very uncomfortable environment! I skipped breakfast the next day and went elsewhere. Forget that over used covid excuse! Again this is my 3rd week in Europe and every other hotel I have stayed at has figured this out and does a much better job! Wake up Duodo! I checked out early and forfeited the non refundable room rate for the rest of my stay. It was totally worth it! I also had clients booked at this hotel for a pre cruise trip in June, which I have since canceled and moved them to The Gritti Palace. There is no way I would stake my reputation on putting anyone in this hotel. It may be fine for some, but its definitely not for me. Did I mention the mosquito bites????… thank you again Duodo Palace!! To the Duodo owners and managers, You need to get with the times and step it up quickly!! Hire a good consulting firm and save this ship before its sinks further. If you need some advice let me know I can give you a list of hotels that appear to have figured it out and do it way better than you do. ADDITIONAL TIP: book your water taxis direct rather than through the hotel as you will be charged more through them.

When we got here, we were told that we had been upgraded which is very agreeable to experience ! We were put on the 5th floor (very small, small walkup) which is quite different from the 3rd floor for example. Not a great decoration for the room it looks a bit old but that's okay. Cleanliness was fine everything looked a little worn down but clean. 2 small windows with a very nice view of the Venice roofs. We quickly realized that the toilet would not flush all the time (water to replenish the toilet did not come after each flush so about half the time it would not work and you would have to come back later which is inadmissible for a 4*). During the night, you could very clearly hear the seagulls that were on the roof, they make a lot of noise so if you're a light sleeper be careful. The second night, it was very warm in the room so we opened the windows but it was still very warm. We saw a thermostat in the room but it didn't seem to work so we called reception to ask for help. The person on the other hand first told me to open the windows, which I said I did half an hour ago. They explained that it was too early in the year for the cool air to be turned on so they could only turn the heat on if I wanted. I asked if they had any other options and they said no. I said I understood and would live with it but recommended that they warn guests beforehand to avoid these situations where I could have been mad. They told me they wouldn't, acted like they didn't care at all, said over and over to open the windows (where I answered every time that I had), spoke to me in a very arrogant way and like I was bothering them, never apologized and were overall super rude. I was talking calmly and being understanding so they had absolutely no reason to. As for the bed, the mattress is very thin but fine however the pillows are terrible (it would not cost too much to replace them which we do recommend). As for the breakfast, you are not allowed to serve yourself because of Covid (understandable). The buffet is acceptable but too expensive for what it is. I would recommend going outside and having a pastry and coffee in a shop instead (at Torrefazione Cannaregio for example it's delicious). The bacon, ham and cheese were good but the scrambled eggs were bad (very overcooked). They have eggs to boil available I asked twice for them and both times the servers (even though they were very nice) forgot them each time so they would cook my soft boiled eggs for 7 to 12min. Finally, we were supposed to get a welcome drink when we got there and realized as we were about to check out that we never heard a thing about it. We asked and they said a bit arrogantly that we were supposed to go to the bar and ask for one like (which again no one told us about) so we did when we came to get our bags later in the afternoon before heading to the airport which was nice. You also have to leave your key at reception which feels a little weird and creates overflows at reception sometimes. TL;DR: Very poor service at reception, bad pillows, acceptable bed for a couple of nights but not good, great location, very nice view, toilet that would not flush, old hairdryer, breakfast to avoid, cleanliness OK, possible to arrive by taxi boat, disappointed overall for a 4*

Great location, clean room, poor bed. Two single beds with no upper mattress. People at the front desk did just the payments no support. However good value for money. It is an option just to save on your budget. The mass tourism has destroyed hospitality in venice

Stayed for 1 night, booked through trivago website, managed to get a very good deal. A bit hard to find as it was about first time in Venice but managed to in the end. It is a 4 star hotel and it is what you would expect from a 4 star hotel, all the glitz and glamour. Got a normal double room on the 4th floor, very cosy. Hotel was kind enough to keep our luggage when we left for almost all day before we left for airport. £9 extra Venice tourist tax paid at hotel. Would highly recommend if you're staying in Venice

We were extremely well received and had a great room! The beds are super comfortable, the rooms quite spacious and with a nice Venetian decor. The staff, always there to answer our questions, was great, the hotel superbly located (3mn from Saint Mark's square) I recommend and will definitely return!

Duodo Palace was perfect. Beautiful rooms, lovely atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a new experience entering the hotel from a canal but there is also an entrance off the street. San Marco is minutes away as is the Realto Bridge.
