Great location, lovely room but the stand out is their focus on customer service. We had an issue at the hotel restaurant and they went above and beyond to address it. It's easy to be wowed when things are going right, but the true test is how they resolve an issue. By the end of our stay, we were made to feel special by the attention to the details, amazing service and a coordinated approach to problem resolution. Restaurant is lovely and we loved the food both at breakfast and dinner. Super helpful reception team who booked us a great little restaurant around the corner on a moments notice - and they had the table ready for us when we arrived. I'd definitely return and highly recommend.
Stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Bonvecchiati with a group of friends. The hotel's central location is fantastic for sightseeing in Venice. It's two minutes from Saint Mark's square, and 5 minutes from the Rialto Bridge. A perfect starting place to walk to anywhere. Our room (201) was small and a bit dated, but decorated with Murano glass - giving it authentic Venetian charm. The hotel has been in operation since 1790, so it really *has* to have authentic Venetian charm! The lobby has a couple of nice seating areas. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our group had 5 separate rooms, and each was different. All were on the small side, but I think that's pretty common for Venice. Ours had a view of another building, so the main point of the window was to provide natural light. Room 101 below us was an accessible room, and a bit more modern. It had no view at all - just some air conditioners. A couple of rooms had views over the street (Calle Goldoni). Each was differently decorated. The restaurant / bar departed from the style of the rest or the hotel. It was very bright, clean, and modern. Breakfast was basic but reasonable. Two "baristas" made coffee to order. Dinner there was good. A mid afternoon Aperol Spritz was served with a bowl of mixed nuts. There may be fancier and more modern (and probably more expensive) hotels, but if your goal is to be centrally located to explore Venice, then Hotel Bonvecchiati is an excellent choice.…
Great location. As most hotels it’s quite old inside. The room was small but nice. There was a smell and the AC was noisy. But as you’re outside most of the day you’ll be too tired to notice. Staff is very nice and helpful. The room was very clean. All in all a good experience.
Loved the charm and location of this hotel, but what put it over the top were their employees. They could not do enough for you and have a lovely restaurant. Franchesca put together a wonderful Sunday afternoon guide and water taxi. I learned a great deal about the history of Venice and the beauty of all the islands.
We had a junior suit on the third floor. it was spacious and high quality. the breakfast was really good. the location could not be better. Lots of restaurants near by. a few minutes walk to either the Rialto bridge area or to the San Marco area.
We had a disappointing time unfortunately. We arrived in Venice for one night and were pleased with the location of the hotel. We were shown a room (107) which was a good size and clean. It was modern in style and we had hoped for a Venetian style room. Admittedly, we should have asked at initial check in but did not realise there was a mixture. We asked for an alternative room and were shown one with a more classics style (112) At the time we did not pay enough attention to the curtains being shut. We agreed to the room. A few minutes later, the lady from the desk called to say she had made a mistake and we would have to pay an extra €50 as the room was an upgrade. A €30 payment was agreed as she had not told us in advance of seeing the room. It should be noted here that my husband had to fix the phone so we could take the call. The call kept coming through to the bathroom but could not be answered as the bedroom phone was broken. After this mishap, we noticed a humming noise. We opened the curtains, windows and shutters to find a huge air conditioning unit that must service most of the hotel directly outside our window (see pictures). We shut everything again and could still hear the noise. We decided to have a mini bar drink and mention the noise on our way out. We found a mouldy bottle of spirits in our mini bar fridge. On our way out we took a recording of the noise (shutters, window and curtains closed) to play at reception. The fact a phone picked up the noise with all these closed says it all. We called the laundry to borrow an iron as we were there for one night and needed to iron a shirt. You are not allowed to borrow irons and the laundry only works in the morning. Be prepared to go with crease free clothes for short stays. We mentioned the noise and showed the mouldy bottle. We were told that the member of staff would speak to her colleague so we headed out. Upon our return, no message suggesting a solution had been left. That night, I woke several times. The hum was distracting when trying to fall asleep again. At 8 in the morning, we were woken by someone trying to force the door open, presumably a cleaner. We left the room and went for breakfast. Due to Covid this was not self service and a lady offered us choices and served up for us to take to our table. This all worked fine and she a manged very well (one lady for all the guests). Another lady came to the table to take our coffee orders. This happened quite some time after us getting our food. She came back to the room to say the machine was broken and cappuccino could not be served. She asked some tables for new orders but not us. When we asked about our drinks, she seemed surprised that we had a order, despite ordering with her. Other customers were also waiting and she seemed unclear if they had order either. Another guest exclaimed that he had waited 20 minutes for a drink and 45 minutes the day before. She began to deliver black coffees but in no particular order. She then came out with cappuccinos?? My husband asked about our drinks and she asked if we had ordered for second time! He made our original order again and this time got it. Rather confusing for us all. At checkout, we explained all of the above (our message from the previous evening had not been passed on). We were offered the mini bar for free. Despite our prior complaint about the noise in the room and the morning mishaps, we still had to pay the additional room fee- for an ‘upgrade’ we didn’t ask for and weren’t notified of in advance of seeing the room. I understand Covid has made things hard for the industry but I would expect better from a 4* hotel in a tourist hot spot like Venice. The room wasn’t cheap and was tired. Had our concerns been listened to on the two occasions we went to the desk, I wouldn’t have written this review. Such a shame. Advice to future guests- check what’s outside your window before agreeing to the room.…
My partner and I recently stayed here for two nights. Well located in the amazing city of Venice, the hotel itself wasn't what we expected. We were put into an annex building, and told it was an upgrade, highly doubtful, the room itself was small though the bathroom was much better. The city of Venice itself is amazing, thoroughly enjoyed our visit, though the hotel was little better than basic. Would definitely not go back as value for money it wasn't.
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Two couples in two rooms on the fourth floor. We wanted good hotel in the hart of Venice to stay during the carnival. The hotel location is excellent, no doubt on that. Our room was very small, in a way that one suitcase was close to the bed that did not live enough space to walk or to open the room door. The other trolly was inside the closet. I could not unpack it since there ware no drawers so I had to take it out avery time I needed something. The bathroom was very small with no place to put things close to the mirror. The bath was the worse part: The showerhead didn't had a mounting bracket (see picture). So to we had to improvise. Our friends from the room next door complained not able to turn the TV on. I must say that we did not mentioned this to the hotel manager since we stayed a very short stay. The pictures in the web did not gave any clue on the small size of room…
The hotel has a great location, the staff was always helping and even given us a better room as the one they allocated initially was noisy. It is a bit outdated for the furniture but for what we paid is more than enough! Good breakfast
Lovely position and beautiful facilities. You can get a pass to book some time at the leisure suite in the sister hotel, breakfast was a perfect start to the day although our room was a little warm (rm 419), leaving the window open with the passing gondolas, boat taxis passing and church bells made an exceptional visit, we'll be back to Venice for sure.
