Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

A little gem - not fancy but cosy, with lovely friendly staff in a great location. Cons: no elevator; somewhat old room carpet; no bedroom slippers; small shower stall (if you’re on the larger side); not much in the way of toiletries (best to bring your own) and basic-ish breakfa

I visited with my boyfriend for two nights and we adored our stay here. The hotel is well located in terms of getting around - close to all the big sites but far enough away it is quiet in the evenings and not swarming with tourists. The check in was so quick and easy, and all of

The hotel is a typical European hotel. It is basically a modified older building so there is no lift and the bedroom was smaller than would be found outside Europe and in hotels built in recent times. The bathroom was very compact but just usable.
Breakfast was all that we need

depending from with airport you are coming. we arrived on venice marco polo. In the airport goto the level of the checkins. Walk to checkin nr 1. There is a long walkpath +/- 10 minutes. The Waterbus taxi is already announce. You have to take number 12 (buy first a return ticket or you can buy it online). queue up and it takes anout 1:20 to arsenale and +/- 1:30 to san marco

Hello - we will be arriving from Naples by train. Is it possible to walk to your hotel from the train station? Are there simple directions that you could pass long? Thank you very much.
Hi, We also arrived into Venice by train. Take the no1 waterbus from outside the train station (make sure you purchase tickets first). It goes down the grand canal which is a magnificent sight. It's quite a few stops along, but exit at Arsenale stop. Turn left over a little bridge, and then turn right into a side street on you right called Calle Pescaria, and it's just down there on your right hand side. It's quite easy :)

Hello, I hope this question does not sound too naive (first time in Italy..) We are booked on this hotel and arriving from Milan by train on July 5th. We have not booked our train yet so may I ask which train and which station to take off to reach Hotel Al Nuovo Teson? Looking forward to this vacation of a lifetime, meet the friendly hotel staff and have a good time in Venice. Regards.
