We’ve rarely had an easier choice to make when deciding where to stay in a city – one glimpse of the Al Ponte Antico’s beautiful rooms and fabulous terrace and the decision was made. Fortunately, we were not given pause by the room rates, which are very reasonable for a hotel which offers so much. Matteo and Barbara are wonderful hosts and have somehow gathered together a team of staff members who are equally committed to this beautiful building and its guests. Igor was on duty for the majority of our stay and he looked after us with exemplary care. We saw a great deal of Venice during our long stay, but we always felt most connected to the city when sipping a spritz on the terrace of Al Ponte Antico.
Dear Barbara, Bruno, Alex and Igor, we just wanted to drop you a quick note to say a big thank you for a fantastic stay at your beautiful property, as well as the upgrade to the amazing canal view room! From the minute we arrived by river taxi and were greeted by the lovely Igor with a big warm smile as we docked on to the pier, we were overwhelmed. We absolutely LOVED the feel of the hotel, everything is so authentic and personal and with so much attention to detail. In my industry, I see so many hotels which thrill for different reasons and have something distinct to offer to a group or individual traveller, however your property is really something special and both Markus and I cant wait to be back=) We have already recommended you to our friends so more lovely German people coming your way =) Until then, all the very best from sunny Germany, Natalie & Markus…
What a fantastic hotel. The service is impeccable, all members of staff went out of their way to ensure we had the best possible stay in Venice. The terrace overlooking the Rialto Bridge must be the best spot in town for an apperitivo. Breakfast was a delicious home made feast and the room was spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend for your stay in beautiful Venice.
We took a water taxi which dropped us off at the private dock of the hotel. We were met by a staff member at the dock. Upon check-in at the hotel, the staff member (sorry I cannot remember his name) gave us a tour of the nine room boutique hotel and explained the history of the hotel. Originally, we were scheduled to arrive on a different date with a Grand Canal view. Since we had to change our travel date, we could not have a Grand Canal view. Originally, we were disappointed but after arriving, we were glad to have a more quite room. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. However, the hide-away bed couch was a little uncomfortable. The balcony from the hotel over looks the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge. What views!!!!Breakfast was definitely a highlight of the day. Homemade breads and desserts were served with breakfast. I could have eaten the entire lemon cake!!! Eating breakfast on the balcony was a beautiful way to start the day. Also, having nightly cocktails on the balcony was an enjoyable way to end the day. We have traveled worldwide and we have never had the detail to service as offered at this hotel. When we were introduced to new staff, they already knew our names. The small touches really matter. Besides the beautiful hotel and wonderful staff, the location was convenient to many of the tourist sites as well as the water buses (if so desired). I have always wanted to visit Venice and see the sites but staying at the Al Ponte Antico Hotel was almost the best part of our vacation. Thanks!!!…
From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed all the staff at Al Ponte Antico could not have tried harder to make my wives birthday treat more enjoyable. From the moment we arrived at the dock of the hotel on the grand canal by shared water taxi (a must do) and greeted by Alex with a cheery 'Hello Liz, hello Andy', we knew it was going to be special. At this point, Liz and I would like to say a special thank you to Alex who on a daily basis gave us insights as to the best places to go considering our stay was fairly short. His recommendations for places to eat were superb especially the reservation he made for us on the last night to ensure we had a canal side table at La Porta d'Acqua. Our room overlooking the Grand Canal was gorgeous, tastefully decorated, very high ceilings, air conditioned, the most comfortable bed and terrific views of the Rialto Bridge. The shower is a little small but perfectly adequate with both overhead and directional shower heads. Breakfast here is a treat in itself with everything beautifully presented and the homemade pastries were delicious. Barbara ensured that breakfast ran smoothly cooking the most wonderful eggs (of your choice) and with the help of Roselda ensured that you wanted for nothing. The view from the the terrace is very special and worth the cost of your stay on its own. We wished we could have stayed longer and were very sad to leave this very special hotel. Our thanks to Egor who sorted out a little issue with our return shared water taxi but this just showed all the staffs attention to detail and their endeavour to ensure our stay was as special as possible.…
