The eclectic and theatrical Metropole Hotel is superbly located just a few steps from St. Mark’s square and the venues of the Art Biennale Exhibition. Among the highlights, rooms and suites with a spectacular lagoon view, attentive service and an impressive antiques collection. At the Metropole • Rooms and suites, furnished with original period pieces, precious fabrics and velvets that recall the tradition of Venice. Some are small, but welcoming, others comfortable and with lovely views; • The Garden, a typical Venetian courtyard with an antique well and surrounded by white gazebos, exotic palms, orange trees and jasmines, ideal for al-fresco aperitifs and breakfast in summer; • The Orientalbar, the Metropole Cocktail Bar, favorite venue for artists and musicians, famous for serving amazing Martini Cocktails, special selections of finger food and its signature Aubergine Parmigiana. It hosts a neon site-specific installation by the American contemporary artist Joseph Kosuth. Open everyday from 11.00 am to 1.00 am • News 2020! Metropole Spa & Wellness The Metropole Spa is an enveloping and Oriental-inspired place where to encourage the well-being of body and soul. It includes a scenic warm water pool, Hammam with aromatic essences, shower with chromotherapy, icefall and special treatments. An incredible sensory experience between candle lights and the fire to warm the atmosphere. Authentic hospitality The Metropole Hotel has been run by the Beggiato family, Venetian hoteliers for generations. Today, Gloria continues the tradition, but has introduced to the Metropole a hint of mistery and Oriental elegance, enhancing its unconventional identity.

A wonderful experience here from start to finish over our New Years stay, thanks to the staff and the excellent concierge who arranged for an easy car park and water taxi service directly to the hotel’s private dock. The ambience and cocktails each night at the Oriental Bar were the highlight for us.

The Metropole is beautiful and sumptuous. The service was helpful and friendly if a little bit perfunctory. The room was very comfortable and good size for Venice, but it was on the second floor near the Grande Canal (which means it is easy to get to) so it was noisy in the evenings. While the location near San Marco is definitely convenient, I found it too crowded for my taste. The only real negatory is that I had made a reservation at the restaurant for our first evening figuring we would be too tired to explore and no one let us know that their restaurant is closed and they are only feeding people in the bar which had a very limited menu. We left the expensive dinner still feeling hungry

We stayed two nights here. Very handy for St Marks Square etc and a stones throw from the water taxis, gondolas etc. The room was very comfortable, but we missed out on coffee making equipment. The breakfast was served in the moorish style gardens, quite delightful, but spoilt by bad service at at table. Very odd ordering service, as we were given a print out to fill in with our orders, but what eventually arrived...??

Let me say that I very much liked this property. Great location, great history, wonderful garden for breakfast and cocktails. The service was almost great - but when we checked in they tried to stick us in a room on the first floor. I had requested a high floor several times via email, and they said they'd "do their best", and when we got there the front desk manager said that they had nothing available on a high floor and put us in a room on the first floor. When we got into the room - which was facing the lagoon - people were only a few feet below our room and the noise was demonstrably loud. We rejected the room, and lo and behold, the same room on the 2d floor became available. While only 1 floor higher, the view and noise were noticeably better. Why couldn't they put us in the 2d room the first time? It's like going to a busy restaurant and they try to put you in the worst table to save the better tables for others. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth but otherwise I would recommend the property.

Room Tip: No first floor facing the lagoon. 2d floor is ok; better still go higher.

A beautiful hotel with it's own water taxi stop in a superior location within walking distance of the Doge's Palace. From the minute you walk in you sense a quiet elegance, a lobby filled with beautiful objects and curiosities. The concierge desk works tirelessly to help weary travelers experience Venice. The garden where breakfast and drinks are served is charming and quiet. While food and drinks are quite pricey, the ambience can't be beat. Service is terrific and staff to be commended. Rooms are lovely. Truly an unforgettable stay . Thank you !
