Pros - Friendly staff - Quiet / Out of the way - Decent for tents Cons - Expensive - Basic - Out of the way (long walk from any amenities) - Little/no shade for camper-vans - Run-down washroom facilities - Only squat toilets - Infested with mosquitoes (opposed to other areas) The cost of the car ferry to get the lido plus the expensive site charge (for what?) does not offset a slightly closer proximity to Venice. Better choice and value over at Cavallino-Treporti.
Everything about the accommodation was average, but covered what you neded for a goodnights sleep and a cosy time of something to eat & drink, the people are nice & friendly that work at the campsite. Recommended for value, friendliness and what you need for a stay over in Italy.
So this review is coming quite late after our stay. We stayed here during a road trip round Europe in the summer of 2015. We chose it because it was the closest one to Venice, but I'm so glad we did. During our stay there was a big storm which caused our tent to blow away. Without hesitation the owner of the campsite gave us a caravan for the night. The following morning we realised that the storm had flooded the battery in our car and it wouldn't start. We tried to ring the RAC but they refused to help us (despite having European cover), when the owner found out he gave us a tent to loan and said he would try and sort something for us. With no other option we stayed an extra night and when we woke up the next morning the owner had replaced the battery in our car and refused to take any money! Not only did the battery last the rest of the trip (back to the UK through Austria, Slovenia and Germany) it also lasted another year back in the UK. We can't thank him enough for his kindness!!!…
Chose this campsite as it was the closest one i could find to Venice. If you ate driving you have to get a ferry from Venice island buts its only a 35 minute trip. Site is quite small. Facilities are communal but spotlessly clean. Small bar whuch catered for breakfasts and snacks which was perfect. Fridge and charging facilities for everyone's use. Site is on a very regular bus route to the waterbus stop and to the nearest town. Runs every ten minutes and stop nearly outside the gate. Loved staying here.
Clean and friendly. Hot water, fridge, tables, bicycle rent etc. One of the Last camping site for backpack traveler in italy. The team is helpfull. You can meet a lot of traveler and people worldwide.
Since few years I'm living as a traveller and check out many campsites a month. This campsite was for me a revelation. Familiar and clean. Like a garden for some tents, very clean sanitary installations, fluent hot water, a washing machine for laundry, bar offering breakfast, fridge for common use and docking station for loading of phones, batteries etc. The whole is running by its owner who isn't just polite, furthermore helpful in a lot of matters concerning my trip. I had planned to stay 2 nights and left San Nicolo after four! Will come back, definitely.
We stayed for 2 weeks in 2015. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean and having breakfast there it's like from a travel brochure. The small cafe offers freshly baked pastries every morning and they have a proper professional coffee machine, which means no compromise with your coffee. There is a communal fridge and spot for charging electronics. The owner could be a bit strange, but always very helpful if you need something. I would say he is a real host, not just a manager. There are no specific pitches, but it was never crowded when we were there. The camping it's very popular with cyclists, but other than that you could meet many different types of people - families, couples, friends. It's about 20 min. walking from the center, but next to one of the best bars on Lido at the airport.…
I had a very bad expirience because they tried to charge me more than what was advertised. The lack of public transportation (bus) is also a problem, because the camping is farway from the centre. The pitch is very small, maybe it was a backyard of an old house. I don't recommend, there are dozens of campings cheaper and near the Venice main island
The place itself it is average in terms of cleanliness but it's a very bad value for money. Also, you cannot sleep in another friend's tent: you still have to pay full price, which doesn't make a lot of sense. Staff is incredibly rude and impolite. Worst of all is the owner, which on top of being rude, is also a thief. The price I got via email said 14 EUR per night but I was charged 15 EUR. They said it was mentioned in the email but that was nowhere to be found in the reservation and a lot of people had the same problem. I have tried to complain to the owner, not because of the price difference, but for the sake of it and he started yelling and basically told me to '[--] off'. All I can say is that I'd never go back there, even if it was the last place with accommodation on Earth.…
In response to the review may 29th 2013, we felt we had to ensure an actual representation of the camping site was posted. This camp site is one of the better ones we have visited. The service was very good and the toilet facilites were kept very clean. The beach is a short 15 minute walk and transport to venice about a 20 minute walk to the boat. Downsides are that the site is a bit small and therefore can feel at times there are too many tents set up, also the pit toilets may put some people off. But overall a lovely campsite.
