we thank you for your lovely words, they encourage us a lot to work harder day after day.
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay in Bologna and look forward to welcoming you next time!
The hotel is in the small back streets south of the centre, and is a collection of houses grouped around a central, very pleasant courtyard. It's a bit like an Oxbridge college, with staircases rising at random in unexpected places. This may dictate the modernity...More

to reach our Hotel from the Train Station (there is only one main Station Bologna Centrale) it is possible to take a bus (33, 32 or 30 but probably 33 is the easiest one), you can get tickets at the bus tickets office TPER (you find it at the exit on your right side), it will take around 15 minutes to reach Piazza di Porta San Mamolo stop, 2 minutes walking distance from us.
If you don't have heavy luggage it is also possible to walk, crossing the center it takes 35 minutes. By taxi it takes around 10 minutes for 10/12,00 euro.

No, the Porta San Mamolo is not just in the center; it is just at the edge of where the old city wall passed (that's why it is called "Porta" (Gate)). To get to the Piazza Maggiore, you have to walk four long blocks. The area is very nice, however, and there is a good restaurant at the corner called Sangiovese.

We had a hire car to get to the hotel and then walked everywhere. There is a bus map at people.reed.edu/~reyn/BolognaMap.pdf which is a bit complicated but the A bus looks like it goes within a few 100 yards of the hotel.
