We spent a week at the Appia Antica Resort in one of their apartments. There are three located in the property and you can definitely feel at home, being away from it! Maurizio and his family go to the extra mile to get everything sorted out for their guests and also present us

My husband and I had wanted to take a family vacation to Italy to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. For our children, this was their first trip to Italy. As far as my husband and I, we had been to Italy twice before. On the first trip, which was our honeymoon, we traveled

Dear Friends,Petrosino Family, what beautiful memories you left at Appia Antica Resort ... since your arrival, when we spoke about the famous Italian policeman Joe Petrosino, bearing your family name and all along your stay, sharing so many chats about Italy and America, sitting on our table in the garden... Your words are so kindly detailed, thank you so much for them ! You are right, the center of Rome is not the coolest place where to stay nowadays, because of the hustle and the bustle pervading it: even at night it is no longer quiet. The trendy place where to stay is the area located around the Ancient Appian Way, just inside the largest archaeological park in the world and at a few minutes from the Colosseum (only 30 minutes of jogging !). Three years ago the largest booking site in the world has declared Appia Antica Resort to be the accomodation N. 1 in our planet for families.... We do our best to give families a " Home away from Home", with our spotless apartments drawn and furnished by my wife Luisa ( by the way: why don't you take her to work in NYC for six months...? :-) ), with our daily assistance, with our precious suggestions, as only an old friend might do. We are happy only when we realize our guests could not have spent better their time in Rome, this is our mission. Furthermore, I like to spend time together with my guests, showing them the beauties of the Ancient Appian Way, around us, or sharing my knowledge of the Eternal City, going around the center with them, in a chatting walk, within 2.000 years of history. Have a nice time back to your daily life and let's hope we can see again soon. Ave atque Vale Maurizio - Owner

Dear GloodamnG37, Thank you so much for your enthusiastic review. Just in the title, you said it all. AAR is your home away from home, not only a hotel where our guests can stop while in Rome. Sorry if I correct you but I would like to add something to your amazing compliment… “a great location outside of the hustle and bustle of Rome…’s center!”. As you know, we are located almost in the center, just at 6 km from the Colosseum, but it looks like we are in the countryside. The “ fault” is of the Appian way ! We are your friends, Roman friends whom you didn’t know you had. It’s true, I have a great passion for this Appian Way area and, even if I do say so myself, I have “infected” Paola and everyone here as well! 😊 So now we want to share this passion with you and all our guests… Why don’t you come back soon? I have a lot more things to show you… Ave Atque Vale Maurizio – Owner

Dear Lenore S, Thank you for your question and sorry for not having answered sooner forcing our guests to answer in our stead. As Michael H said, we can absolutely arrange a transfer from FCO: for 4 people we can have a Mercedes come pick you up for 65€ but in your case it would be too packed, so we suggest using the VAN for 85€. Thank you so much for having contacted us, we remain at your disposal for anything you might need. Kindest regards Appia Antica Resort

Dear Khristina, Thank you for having contacted us, we are happy to answer your question. It takes about an hour to get from our establishment to the port of Civitavecchia. We can arrange for a private car or VAN (it depends on the number of people and quantity of luggage) to pick you up from here and get you to the port: for a car, the cost is 185€ and for a VAN, the cost is 220€. Do not hesitate to let us know if we can be of any further assistance. We are at your complete disposal and we would be happy to have you as our guest. In the meantime, we wish you all the best. Kindest regards Appia Antica Resort

How far are you from the airport?
Dear RJE2009, Thank you for contacting us. From our location to Fiumicino Airport (FCO) it would take 30-40 minutes by car and it's just around 10-15 minutes to get from here to Ciampino Airport (CIA). We hope this information is useful to you and that you'll have a chance to come and see in person what Appia Antica Resort is all about! :) We'll be waiting for you, remaining at your complete disposal! Kindest regards Appia Antica Resort

If you're looking for a unique path into Rome, this is it. The walk we took from Appia Antica resort into central Rome, a meditative ramble past monuments thousands of years old, lined with beautiful fields and towering trees, stopping at some surprisingly excellent restaurants along the way, was magical. It takes about two hours on foot, but the terrain is easy to trek and the entrance into the city center as you pass the Baths of Caracalla is really stunning. The bus, while convenient enough with the stop across the street, is decidedly less romantic and a bit of a bumpy ride, but it's only 20-30 minutes and a welcome option since you won't want to walk for two hours every time you go to/from the city. I think Uber was in a bit of a legal gray area when we were there, but if we stayed at Appia Antica again, I would definitely investigate a ride service in place of the bus for at least a few commutes.
