I just got back from a 5 night stay at the Hotel Santa Maria in Rome. Everything was wonderful. Everything you read in other reviews is true, this place is magical. The courtyard looks/feels great. The rooms are well kept. The place has a great vibe to it. It was too bad we were there in very late November so we couldn't enjoy the courtyard more. The location can't be matched in Trastevere, it's that good. Armando who was working the front desk for much of our stay was phenomenal. Very friendly and seems to want his guests to have the best possible experience while in Rome. He helped us with plane ticket issues we were having and took the lead in solving our problem. I can't remember a more helpful/knowledgeable host in my travels. Your will not be disappointed if you decide to stay here. …
The hotel is in a great location..Trastevereis is walking distance from the major attraction ( 30-35 min) but away from the traffic, congestion, crowds, noise of Rome. During the day you walk the streets near the hotel and they are quiet and empty but after 6 pm the whole place becomes alive. People, tables, bars, restaurants appear from nowhere. The hotel is centrally located in Trastevere except it is in a tiny narrow non descript alley that is somewhat hard to find. The two taxi drivers we had were not happy driving to the gate but the truth is that the gate is 20 steps from the larger alley where they could drop you off or pick you up and would have made their lives much easier. Beautiful gardens to have breakfast or a drink in the evening. Nice buffet with a good selection for breakfast. All employees are VERY nice, cheerful and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and spacious ( we had number 14).They have good AC if necessary. Very good restaurants are 5-10 minutes away. If we go back to Rome, this is the place we would stay…
In the heart of the most ancient city, beneath rustic roman tiles and classic balconies often imagined when thinking of Rome, lies a hidden but yet magical garden. Protected by the surrounding amber buildings, the hotel provides a peaceful shelter from the constant vibrance and vigorous alleys of Trastevere. From the exquisite and abundant breakfast to the courteous personnel, everything is graciously designed to guide you in a splendid and unforgettable retreat. During my enchanted stay, I was stunned with serendipity in a pictorial momentum, between a Bosch’s tableaux and a Fellini’s frame. Definitely worth a visit back.
Can't say enough about this hotel. I stayed there with my wife and 11 y/o daughter in Oct. 2022. We loved it! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel right at home. The hotel room and grounds were beautiful. The breakfast and happy hour meals were terrific. The location is AWESOME! Being in the heart of the Trastevere was a perfect introduction to Rome. Restaurants around every corner, and the overall vibe is just so fun. I can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else in Rome.
The serenity and charm of Hotel Santa Maria is your first impression, but it goes far beyond that. The staff truly make the experience one of a private villa, they go above and beyond the call of duty. There is no duplicating Hotel Santa Maria, it is a very, very special place and, quite honestly, we did not want to leave! Everyone should be blessed to have such friendly, warm and kind staff, they were all AMAZING and we greatly appreciated all they did to make our stay so wonderful.
Myself and the family had a wonderful time in Rome last weekend and this was largely down to our choice of accommodation. The Santa Maria is right in the thick of things, slap bang in the middle of Trastevere which is one of Rome’s most popular neighborhoods. The reception staff, especially , Anjan, was very friendly and helpful suggesting us local trattorias that were affordable for us and our 2 hungry kids. Wi-Fi worked very well and we were able to keep the kids busy by letting them watch cartoons on the only afternoon it rained during our stay. Breakfast was very nice although perhaps it should be open a little earlier during the week to help people who have early flights enjoy a coffee! All in all a wonderful property with great staff who pour much attention to detail thus ensuring you have a great time. …
This is a lovely hotel, with beautiful courtyards and lovely outdoor seating areas . Breakfast was really good and Norman made artistic cappuccino for me. The rooms are cleaned and beds very comfortable. Great hospitality and helpful staff. Would recommend to everyone!
I stayed at this hotel with my family in October and I couldn’t chose a better place to stay:) Our rooms was very comfortable with two separate bedrooms. There is a beautiful courtyard inside the hotel and this is perfect if you have children. Hotel Santa Maria is within walking distance from the main sights of the historical center and then when you come back in the late afternoon you will find many good trattoria just round the corner! We will come back soon !
A beautiful place near the city centre (1-2 km) for example to Piazza Navona, Saint Peters, Campo de Fiori, while at the same time in a more quiet area of Trastevere. You can feel at home here during the time of your stay. Trastevere offers book shops, the Roman history museum, and a park very near by. Must also be beautiful to go running early in the morning along the Tiber River.
Just an amazing place! I went this month with my friends and it was beautiful, I enjoyed the breakfast outside and the happy hour, very nice! The staff was very helpful and kind. The rooms also they were clean and comfortable. I took also the bike👍🏻
