We were wary of travelling in these working times but we got lucky and booked a holiday in this hotel. The weather was good which helped and dispite arriving in pouring rain it was a very organised check in , temperature was taken and our luggage was taken to our room. Our room was 264 which faced the car park it was clean and had everything that was needed with a good shower. We paid for half board and I can honestly say the restaurant was first class serving typical Italian food (probably not for fussy children) , Luigi the restaurant manager was absolutely brilliant and a great host. The hotel is a fair distance from Sorrento but the hotel provides a courtesy bus that starts at 8:30am in the morning and the last return at 11:00pm. The hotel was spotless and the maid did an excellent job of cleaning our room daily. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel.

We have just returned from this beautiful hotel. The views are the best you can get looking towards the bay of Naples and mount Vesuvius. Some of the guests Are all inclusive who were supposed to be staying at a different hotel which is still closed so tui have arranged with the hotel that these guests get an all inclusive package. We paid a premium to stay at this hotel and couldn’t afford to upgrade to a sea view room £700+ for the week but apparently the guests that were here instead of the other hotel got given the sea view rooms !! I think tui should have allowed all their guests to have upgraded to AI we wouldn’t have minded paying for the upgrade When you see the other guests continually getting up and down to the bar Several times with their copious amounts of alcohol, soft drinks and food at the pool bar. Yet the half board guests had to pay a premium for everything
This wasn’t fair - no fault of the hotel but bad customer service from tui.
The hotel needs a second pool as by mid afternoon there is limited sun around the only pool. One solution would be to put a small plunge pool on the roof terrace where there are some Sunbeds. One great advantage of this hotel is the Free shuttle bus down to sorrento every half an hour up to 11 pm.
The staff here are fantastic special mention to the lovely carmine on the bar at reception also Nino.
The evening meals were outstanding made special by Luigi who was charming and engaged with everyone.
I would return to this gem of a hotel in the near future.

This is without doubt my favourite hotel in the world. The views are literally unbelievable. It is the best food I have tasted in my entire life, I still pine over it. The shuttle bus into sorrento is invaluable due to the hilly walk on offer otherwise, and the bus driver was a legend. My only gripe was the drinks were so expensive therefore no atmosphere in the bar, which is easily solved with a trip into sorrento. All in all a fabulous hotel.

We booked this hotel and Sorrento after having a trip of a lifetime cancelled due to COVID and it didn’t disappoint. The hotel despite being high up and away from the centre provided a feee shuttle bus in and out of the centre. Could also walk it in around 20 mins which was great going in but not so much coming back due to the hill but the location was amazing. The views from the sea front rooms were something else and worth the distance from the centre. We stayed bed and breakfast which was great given the pandemic it was served to you. The hotel was clean and had everything needed, the staff were great and the whole experience was fantastic. Would return here in a heartbeat!

We ended up staying at the hotel, due to an error with our TUI booking which is being dealt with, so I won’t go into that.

THE HOTEL
I really do not know where to begin. From the moment we arrived, we experienced amazing customer service. Our luggage was taken off the coach and put into our rooms. Check in was speedy and efficient, with lots of information provided where needed. They even give you a leaflet with everything you need to know. We were then directed to the bar, balcony where we were welcomed with a cold glass of Prosecco and canapés. The view was breathtaking. I have provided photos of this. Even though we arrived in a downpour, the view was still amazing.
We then went to our rooms to unpack and I was taken back by the size of the room. It was very big, had a sofa in there (assuming that’s a sofa bed), tv, 2 single beds (which were double but they sorted this in minutes), desk, full length mirror, wardrobes, balcony with table and chairs, the bathroom has shower gel, shampoo, soap, face clothes, body and hand towels. Everything you could need. The shower itself was amazing. Great power and rainforest type.
The bar was a bit more pricey then what I expected (€9 euro for cocktail or spirit and mixer) but wine was from €6. Beer I think was €4 or €5. Service was exceptional again and Nino really looked after us. He was always saying hello and goodbye making sure we were okay. Sadly I didn’t see him on our last day, but he deserves recognition *****
The pool was lovely and has a great backdrop of the volcano and sorrento town. Pool towels available at the bar. Lunch menu was quiet basic but the food was very tasty.
The roof terrace was amazing. So comfy and it’s a great place to watch the clouds go by and get that last bit of sun when the sun goes behind the hotel.
Now for the dinner!
Due to covid, it was all table served. The staff went above and beyond, to make sure our group could sit in the same area.
The 3 courses were absolutely fantastic! Great choice. Fresh ingredients, tasty, delicious, just perfect!
Overall our stay was the best. It was a great place for us to stay for my friends wedding.
Thank you to all the staff involved and the cleaners who cleaned our rooms daily.
I hope to come back one day.
Big WELL DONE!

We held our wedding reception here at the end of August and I can honestly say we couldn't have wished for a more perfect day. Every part of our reception was planned to perfection by Anna Angela who did the most incredible job with spectacular results. From the incredible food, to our wedding cake, the different styles of live music played throughout the reception, the flowers, the table decorations, the views - I could just go on and on! The service was amazing (thank you to Luigi and all his staff) we really did have a fantastic day.

The hotel itself is beautiful with stunning views over Sorrento. It is built high on a cliff and runs a courtesy shuttle bus service every hour, which is very convenient and definitely needed! The hotel is spotlessly clean and looks very bright and modern, with several areas (covered and uncovered) for you to take advantage of the wonderful views whilst enjoying a large range of drinks and cocktails. Our room (we had a sea view) was very spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the hotel gardens and the Bay of Naples. The pool area is clean with plenty of sunbeds and a lovely little restaurant which has a good lunchtime menu. We stayed on a half board basis and were extremely impressed with the food. Breakfast is a huge buffet which caters for every dietary requirement. The evening menu also offers a very good choice with beautifully cooked and well- presented meals. The restaurant staff are truly delightful!

We had such an amazing stay that we will definitely be back!

This is a friendly and smart hotel in an amazing setting overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius directly across.
It occupies a perch at the top of a 100m high cliff on the edge of Sorrento, and is so close that on an evening I could hear the sounds of the town.
The 20 minute walk down into town is down a winding and slightly steep path/quiet road, but from 9am the hotel runs a free and very efficient shuttle bus service every hour that we also used a lot. The bus journey takes 10 minutes and the last bus back leaves town at 10.40pm.
We stayed at the Grand Hotel President for 1 week at the start of May which is before the season has properly got going, and the hotel was only half full at most - which suited us really well as it meant none of the hotel facilities, or the pool, we're busy.
The staff are really friendly and we had a lot of fun and friendly banter with the waiting staff in the hotel restaurant (the food in the restaurant is great by the way), and evening cocktails while watching the sun go down over Sorrento and the Mediterranean was a nightly pleasure.
All in all we loved the Grand Hotel President and highly recommend it. It is clean, friendly, the setting is amazing, and if you can get a sea view room then definately think about paying the extra because the memories of waking up to that breathtaking view over the Bay of Naples and a live volcano will last me a lifetime.

Room Tip: The Amalfi coast is rocky & doesn't have beaches in the usual sense. There are a few small ones...

Having always wanted to visit the Amalfi coast we did our booking research and selected the Grand President hotel for its hill top Sorrento location and the complimentary shuttle bus service and we paid extra for a Superior room with sea views and balcony for my 60th Birthday Celebration holiday.
Wow 🤩 we were so impressed upon arrival in reception and bar area and delighted with our room location with wonderful breathtaking views across Sorrento and the surrounding bay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first evening with pre dinner drinks in the bar although due to an unexpected thunderstorm the terrace was closed but views of Sorrento under a rainbow 🌈 quite Stunning and found the restaurant delightful with such warm and welcoming staff and food delicious, we decided to opt for half board option and were amazed at menu choices and first class quality of food.
Sadly on day two my husband became unwell and had to go to hospital in Sorrento which was quite a scary experience but made more bearable by the kind and helpful hotel staff who were so supportive and caring towards me during this time allowing the shuttle bus drivers to drop me off at the hospital and providing cold meals in my room.
We managed two relaxing days together at the hotel before returning home, although this wasn’t quite the experience we had planned I would still highly recommend this hotel and look forward to revisiting one day to be able to fully enjoy the beautiful hotel facilities and surrounding Sorrento area.

So, let's start with the negative points. We got to the hotel late as roads were closed for Good Friday processions. Arriving around 1130pm we were shown to our room, which wasn't what we expected. It appeared smaller than we thought it would be and we had trouble fitting our power adapters. We spoke to the manager in the morning and he said that we could look at alternatives on Monday.

However, having arrived late the previous night we had been tired and cranky after the travelling and we re-evaluated our thoughts. Our room was on the ground floor and our terrace, which had a hot tub, opened into a garden. The view across the Bay of Naples was fantastic, dominated by Vesuvius. There were USB ports next to either side of the bed for charging phone and the bathroom had a socket for hairdryers etc.

After this rocky start there is nothing but positives. The hotel itself is good but the staff are superb. Nothing was too much for them. This was especially true of Carmine and Nino in the bar. They made us feel special, they were always smiling and they literally made us feel at home, almost part of the family.

We were half board, breakfast was a buffet, with fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheeses, pastries and cakes, hot choices included fried bread, scrambled, boiled and fried eggs, mushrooms, beans and sausage. Dinner was a sit down with the choice of 5 starters, 5 main courses and 5 dessert choices. The food was cooked fresh and the menu was different every day. Lots of fish options but there was also beef, pork and lamb on different days. The restaurant was wonderfully managed by Luigi, with Piero in charge of the wine. The whole of the restaurant staff were fantastic. Masks were to be worn when moving around the dining room and long trousers in the evening. It was my wife's birthday and they made her feel so special.

The hotel has a shuttle bus which goes into Sorrento and picks guests up to bring back to the hotel. Apart from a 3 hour break early afternoon it runs most of the day.

This is one of the best experiences we have had whilst on holiday and we are already looking at 2023.

The best thing about the hotel has got to be the view! The view is outstanding, and you'll never get bored of it. Unfortunately, we were unable to book a room with a sea view as they were all fully booked but although our room had no view it was a nice room, very clean but mattress a bit hard. Handy fridge in the room.
I'm not a pool person so I can't comment on that, but it looked nice, however I regularly sat on a sunbed on the grass looking out over Sorrento.
There is a great free shuttle bus that takes you into Sorrento town from 8.30am until 11pm which is great as it's quite a steep walk however you can walk it safely along a cobbled road that takes you off the main road if you are pretty fit. If you miss the bus don't get a taxi unless you want to pay around 30 euros for a 10 minute journey.
Food was fine, help yourself breakfast with plenty of choice, evening meal is 3 courses that you choose off a menu. I struggled some nights to choose something I liked but I got by!
Most of the staff were great except the tall barman in the bar next to reception who I witnessed being quite rude to a few guests. Reception staff were ok but could be a bit friendlier. Wi-Fi was very poor at this hotel and rarely worked which is why I have only given the hotel a 4. 4G is hit and miss too in Sorrento at least on the network my phone connected too.
Cleaners start too early about 7am and trollies are noisy. Thankfully I am an early riser.
Top marks to the bus driver and the cleaner of our room no 272. Two lovely people.
I would return here again but only if they had a room with a sea view available. A good holiday was had.
